Haha, I thought it was OBVIOUS how she was implying the nun with her clues. And then her explanation had NOTHING to do with what I thought she was saying! =o)
+Timmo Warner I saw the arches as matching the arch of her habit and then the white dove looked just like it too! Then totally didn't get the explanation!
+Timmo Warner Absolutely, I thought the kid on the fountain was the nanny, but with the two arches, I definitely thought it was referencing that white frame around the nun. Also, church/convent arches, especially with the building in the background of the nun's card. With the red and white cards, I thought that was the same as the nun's background. I thought Jen was brilliant until her explanation... :D
Rahdo! Your killing me! Jen you did fine as ghost so far. I figured out the suspects you were trying to depict before you showed them. Rahdo keeps zeroing in on some of the most obscure part of each picture. I'm laughing while watching at work. I better be careful not to annoy anyone! :) Great stuff.
The arches could have been used for the nun aswel, behind the nun is a church, arches are commenly used in churches. There is even one on the front of the church.
I can’t believe that you didn’t get Nun from that. It was painfully obvious by the second clue, the third clue not only had the religious motifs, but it also had a perfect color scheme match to the card, and I called the Fisher of Men clue almost immediately!
This game is so fun and funny especially if your the ghost hearing ppl discuss the clue's you have given and try not to laugh to hard :D My wife here toughts go so far it's unreal while our daughter really makes good points to interporate the clue's.
This Polish version is currently available for preorder, shipping end of April, from the Portal Games website. Look in the 'Card Games' section... it is at the bottom. They will ship worldwide. Hope this helps anyone who has been looking for this EVERYWHERE (like I have!). The English version looks set to come out in 4th quarter 2015, but with different and slightly more disney-esque character art. I have a feeling the original is going to be preferable!
I can make a solid case for Jen for the nun, not so much the cop :P arch in 2 cards = archbishop lady in white with white hat = nun in white (/black) with white hat bird card red/white = nun card red/white black/white bird = nun in black white (also good vs evil perhaps)
Michael Kieffer one of my kickstarter stretch goals from back in april was that jen would do one runthrough a month, which she's doing fairly well on delivering on. i think her next appearance will be in escape: zombie city in the next week or so :)
So, excited. Just ordered a copy from a place in the Netherlands. Only $58 with shipping which is still cheaper than some games! I just couldn't wait for this to come out next year since I assume it will take a while for a U.S. distributor to get it on the shelf.
Haha, well August at GenCon and then, what? November/December at my FLGS? I'll probably buy it whenever it finally comes out but still anxiously awaiting my copy that's on its way to me. Thanks for the info!
I LOVE Jen's clues :D Btw the arch - may be -> Nun thing due to her hat that's like an arch. And the chains and the jaily (closed space) thing on card one with the cop :D ... she was very very interesting to crack about reading the clues tho :D
The boy on the fountain looked like a cross, almost in a grave marker sort of way. Jen's blue card with a giant "T" would have been a clear reference to crosses as well.
This was a fantastic video, and OMG this game looks amazing! A perfect fit for my wife -- she loves Dixit and figuring out clues/puzzles -- this is an auto-buy when released in the states. I'm hoping they acknowledge the common consensus that the game needs card stands, and settle on the best rule set. Maybe the delay will be accompanied by refinement for the English speaking world!
Jen was doing pretty good. I found out the arches of the church after the second card, and after the third card, that matched with the colors of the nun card. The chain clue was harder to find out, but rahdo, that was poor performance of you:-) No you both do very good, like everytime. Thank you both.
I think she makes a terrific ghost; even before she showed us what the answers were, I presumed the statue meant ''the nun'' because of many reasons: it was a fisher and the fish is a symbol of christianity; it had that arch which made me think of cathedrals and monasteries (and also looked like the thingie on the nun's head), and maybe the least relevant but the first thing that popped in my mind: it's kinda isolated from the world AND elevated. the second card was also a person who is alone AND elevated. also, a lady. that LOOKED like the nun. (also, the 3rd card looks kinda like heaven & hell AND the white dove is another symbol of christianity)
Thanks for the runthrough, I'm importing this game shortly. On a completely different note, it's just Ukraine not 'the' Ukraine. That's like saying "the Canada". :)
dreadknot69 wow! thanks for the heads up! i just looked up why i've been trained my whole life to say "the ukraine" and found this: time.com/12597/the-ukraine-or-ukraine/ interesting reading, thanks for bringing the slip to my attention. i'll endeavor to change my habits! :)
great video! I'm afraid I figured out the nun pretty early on. The cop however...I don't know what Jen was thinking. What I don't understand is why the investigators are dreaming about different people? Doesn't the ghost know who did it?
13:25 her lougth saunds like Minecraft witch... By the way love your videos they help me to understand how to play..... It helps me to Cope with bordom toooo
I wanted to thank you for this runthrough, it gave me a good idea about the game. Thanks! I went back to watch this one again, you picked my interest last time I saw it and I knew there was english version comming. So I waited to see which one was better and now enough info is out about the english version, I'm getting the polish one. I know why they made the changes (better said I guess I know), so that when you walk by, you say "oh, this game looks so cool, what is it?" And the artwork may be more appealing to some, but since they changed just half of the game's artwork, I'd rather have consistent artwork. And the added components, especially the clock looks nice, but it's really just a thing to take space (I like my games compact when it's not necessary to add these and those clock are so unnecessarily huge). And I don't like the "new" rules.
***** for me the card holder is a bit too big, I wouldn't see anything from behind that... and I'm not really sure I have to have all the things in front of me all the time, I would probably prefer just one row shield with just the current picture
***** Ah no no... see, if u squint yr eyes like this.. And you turn yr head this way...Hold the card at arms length... See its a nun.. *ok, back to my hole*
Did anyone understand the setup or the game play? What are the cards shes looking at on the card stand? He kept talking about how nice it is to have card stands but no mention of the cards she was looking at? Or I just missed it?
Hi Rhado and Jen... I've had my eye on this game but the main thing that's holding me back is... what's to prevent the Ghost from purposely confusing everyone or sabotaging one player by consciously giving out unhelpful clues?
+AnonymousInternetPerson001 well it's a co-op game and that's the challenge to the ghost, to try to give out good clues so that everyone can win together
For the Nun: the clue I got was the 2 arch cards match the arch in the church photo, then the red and white dove card matches the red and grey background of the nun card....until she turned it around.
I haven't watched the final thoughts video yet like Rahdo suggested and I don't want to speak for him but it seems as though many (maybe not all) of the comments that could be perceived as passive aggressive were actually comments suggesting game play strategies, scenarios, etc... i.e. suggesting Jen may be playing bad cards on purpose for strategical purposes, she could play two or three cards is letting viewers know that the rules state you can lay more than one clue. Anything else that could be perceived negatively (imo) is just people being too sensitive! They're laughing and you can tell it's not staged or uncomfortable laughing... They're not arguing in any way. Just because their relationship/marriage isn't ideal for you Skygge doesn't mean you should publicly announce it as something that Rahdo and others may think you are calling abusive... your words being misconstrued is entirely equal to you misunderstandings their interaction.
I'm lost here in the first ten minutes. If there is ONE murderer, ONE room and ONE murder weapon ... then why are the two investigators looking for TWO characters?
chuckm1961 i agree, it is thematically odd. i think my variant is better about this, i've just posted a thread on it here: www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1279218/my-mistaken-variant :)
It's just murder mystery writing basics 101. Like in Sherlock Holmes, Poirot and countless other novels, the identity of the murderer is almost always the last thing they discover. Rahdo, I really like your videos, but you seem like a condecending passive agressive bully when talking to your wife. I honestly cant stand listening to you talking like that, because it just ruins my mood - I really hope you will change that, because I want to continue watcing your videos

I think Jen's clues were pretty good, especially for the nun.
I hope to see real Jen on more runthroughs!
Dude the Nun cards were SO obvious. The arches and upside down white bird mirrored the shape of her hat exactly!!
"I am literally not looking at Jen's cards."
These two are so cute when they play together. Signs of a good marriage. 😄
Jen is playing awesome clues! When Rahdo keeps saying "the ghost needs to play better cards" he should be blaming himself instead.
+3ldfilms completely agree, i thought the red and white matched the color scheme of the nuns card though.
+Timmo Warner Absolutely, I thought the kid on the fountain was the nanny, but with the two arches, I definitely thought it was referencing that white frame around the nun. You can tell this is the kind of guy that gets ANGRY at GAMES.
+Brandon K Well, I mean he was probably disappointed that he has to rerecord to get a decent game going.
She basically played the same colors that were on the nun card. Was so obvious to us here. =)
The arches could have been used for the nun aswel, behind the nun is a church, arches are commenly used in churches. There is even one on the front of the church.
That's what I thought!
Steven S I was thinking her really wide hat for the arches
I can’t believe that you didn’t get Nun from that. It was painfully obvious by the second clue, the third clue not only had the religious motifs, but it also had a perfect color scheme match to the card, and I called the Fisher of Men clue almost immediately!
Jen is awesome! Had fun watching this video. It sold me on the game. See you at GenCon in 2 weeks I hope!
2532robh1 nope wont be at encon this year :(
This game is so fun and funny especially if your the ghost hearing ppl discuss the clue's you have given and try not to laugh to hard :D My wife here toughts go so far it's unreal while our daughter really makes good points to interporate the clue's.

Won't that be her 3rd appearance in less then a months time :p? She was in Lap Dance too.
Tokikosworld yeah, she's done 9 of her 12 now... only 3 more to go! here's a list of all her major appearances to date in my vids: jen.rahdo.com :)
I hate to tell you, Radho, but those were awesome clues. :)
i thought it was the Nun on the first clue! but i thought the water was in reference to baptism. lol

The boy on the fountain looked like a cross, almost in a grave marker sort of way. Jen's blue card with a giant "T" would have been a clear reference to crosses as well.
Guessed both at two clues! Great job Jen.
i knew jen's clue on the nun after the second card /before you showed it

I do have to admit I was guessing the nun based on the arches not the "Fisher of Men" :D

I MUST buy this game!!
Yes, me too!! ... But... where?? :-/
+Juujuu gurl I bought it already . It´s a great game!! Very, very funny! :-D
Fisher of Men was a stretch xD But I thought it was nun because of monastery arches...coincidence xD
Jen, you gave good clues for the cards you had. I got the Nun as soon as I saw the second arch. It wasn't you. ;D
This play through is great and so funny. The 2nd card Jen played for the nun... isn't it a nun crossing the bridge?
Wayne The Lonely Gamer hehe, nope, it's a woman carrying luggage :)
***** Ah no no... see, if u squint yr eyes like this.. And you turn yr head this way...Hold the card at arms length... See its a nun.. *ok, back to my hole*
The first 2 cards for the Noun representing 2 bridges, they have the noun's hat shape. That was obvious =P
I was actually thinking the first 2 cards for the nun were the arch shapes mimicked the nun's hats.
I knew White's murderer from the first clue. Still have no idea about Blue's thinking until the 3rd card
There were Arches in the Background photo and even on their head for White
when do you get the predetermined murderer is it like clue? shuffle and pick or how?
that's part of setup, which i didn't show, but basically it's a random card draw
Thank you 🐢
Did anyone understand the setup or the game play? What are the cards shes looking at on the card stand? He kept talking about how nice it is to have card stands but no mention of the cards she was looking at? Or I just missed it?
Daniel Filippus jen was looking at cards that told her which of the public display cards i was supposed to choose :)
+Daniel Filippus You missed it. She showed the camera. around 13 minutes or something.
I picked the nun because the 2 archways looked like her hat haha
Same here!

Hahahahaha!! This is great +rahdo !! I enjoy a lot with this video!! :-D
She had the perfect cards for the officer, and didn't play them. But I would have guessed the nun on the first card.
do you know if its out yet ??
+Horrified it was launched at gencon in august i think :)
+Horrified It was a limited release at GenCon, but the regular release was early October.
i got one already so excited!!!
"I'm not killing yus!" 20:18
:D
Totally got the who on the second card.. Good job for Jen... Nice try Richard.. LoL
does anyone know the exact release date for the english version?????
skittlemonster001 there hasn't been one annouced, or even who's publishing it, though rumor has it that will be asmodee
***** is there a date now?? im about to give up , im in australia , where is the best place to buy this online and what version???
Horrified pretty sure it's supposed to be out at Gencon in august, and it' probably worth waiting for... some of the new components look amazing!
Except for the first card of the nun, everything else was pretty clear.
Arches & upside down dove was so obvious. I blame the investigator.
always a smart move! :)
I'm lost here in the first ten minutes. If there is ONE murderer, ONE room and ONE murder weapon ... then why are the two investigators looking for TWO characters?

Wait we never found out why Jen picked those three cards for the cop...please tell me!
sorry, recorded this a couple years ago, so don't remember now :)
lilacwest She explains it in the extended gameplay video :)
I got jen clues on the nun but I also had the chance to know what it was first.
Your wife looks fun to game with. You're a lucky man.
Wouldn't the game be more suspenseful if you have to guess in order: weapon, place, murderer? Instead of murderer, place, weapon.
It's just murder mystery writing basics 101. Like in Sherlock Holmes, Poirot and countless other novels, the identity of the murderer is almost always the last thing they discover. The theme of the game is already suffering a bit with the ghost broadcasting different dreams to each investigator for no particular reason. I agree; "whodunit" is the main thrust of a murder mystery and better suited for the end. That being said, I haven't played the game, so this is just an uneducated first impression.
Actually, this is how the game is intended to be played according to the English rules...
Holy crap, you are much much worse of a guesser than she is a clue giver. How much blame you put on her too, I feel bad for her! lmao
6:50 it's obvious fisher of men
Thank you for putting me on to this game Richard. I'd seen this on the shelves in Poland and had no idea what it was until I saw your video. Turns out it's GREAT for teaching English too. hi jen
Yeah, sorry
Thanks for showing me what the mechanics of the game are like. I appreciate it. I will say it was hard to watch you be so exasperated at Jen so I stopped watching.
COLORS. LOOK AT THE COLORS... lol.

Louisa Diliberti Never fear, Ben was just poking fun at Skygge's accusing me of being an abusive husband :)

This game is from Russia, not England, not Poland. There are Russian names on the box,
The designers are Ukranian, the first edition came out in Poland.
+sub for pronounce :)
I'm confused why you bothered to "look up" the pronunciation if you didn't actually intend to pronounce it correctly.
i did, and found multiple different pronunciations, so i did the best i could with what i had
