    Hi Mark. Im trying make my own particle mix at the mo, ive used tigers and hemp last summer and done well with them. This winter ive used a parti mix from a company and had 3 fish out this winter. So it gave me the idea of makig my own mix. I buy my stuff from an animal feed shop and theres not lots of options, so i chose the ones what are available! I've gone for hemp, red maize, groats and chick peas. They're soaking as we speak, and im looking forward to trying them out 😁

    • @MarkCarp

      I think you'll do well with that mix andy, don't neglect the tigers mate, i had a spectacular winter on them the year before last👍 i keep hearing particles don't work in winter but they certainly do. i'm sure the bait companies spread that myth!🤔🤣

    • @andywhalley3669

      @MarkCarp probably mate! I got a small amount of nut mix and a parti mix, put them out together and ive only had on the parti mix so far, so I've made my own parti mix and gonna stick with that through the winter now, then go back to tigers in the warmer months 👌🏻

    • @MarkCarp
      @MarkCarp  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i still like to use a bit of hemp andy but i tend to bulk it out now, 1 part hemp, 2 parts groats to keep the cost down. I love wheat, it's one of my favourite particles and i just can't understand why it's not popular?👍

    Very informative videos Mark - thanks. Can I ask you about groats... you describe them as rolled oats, however when I search rolled oats they are described as having been steamed and rolled and are flattened in the process. The seed in your video looks more like unprocessed oats... is this right or am I missing something please?

    • @MarkCarp
      @MarkCarp  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      hi andrew, they definitely aren't flattened or steamed, i think 'rolled' has more than one meaning, it can also mean the cleaning process they go through to get rid of stems/roots and any other rubbish picked up when harvested.

      @@lazycarper7925 the quality does seem to have dropped a little with hemp, it's a shame it's so expensive but it is what it is, i've used these groats loads of time and they always perform really well. They are quite filling so i prefer to use them in small amounts rather than spod the granny out of it, they've done me a lot of fish over the years though. they mix with hemp too, 1 part hemp, 2 parts groats to bulk out the mix, you get the best of both with that combination👍

      hi dave, your local seed/livery merchant will have them, thats were i got mine, larton livery in wirral. failing that try a pet shop as groats are used to feed canaries so they should have them or can order them for you. Never seen anything so stupid in all my life groats better then hemp 😂🙈🤔 why dont tackle shops sell them if there better then hemp. Well thats easy because there not llf good to us as part of a mix no problem on its own definitely not. And how in the world he made 5 cups last all day is crazy lol 2 spombs and it would have been gone our better still 2 fish in your swim would clear that out straight away. Dont come on you tube talking about something but have zero knowledge about what your talking about lol

    • @MarkCarp
      @MarkCarp  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      with respect mate, i think you need to watch this video again, nowhere have i said groats are better than hemp, if you can find that statement please add a time i say it so we can all have a look. what i did say was that groats do the same kind of job as hemp in that they get fish grubbing around and hold them in a swim but they cost a lot less, there is a big difference in those two statements. And yes, 5 cups does me for a day, well it was actually a 5 hr session, there's no spomb involved, as you can see it's a small water so i used a few pouchfuls to create a small spot and fished for them one at a time, a bucket full spodded in would be pretty stupid in this situation. you don't have to fill swims in with particles, most anglers actually ruin their chances of a bite before they start because they put too much in. Me, i know my particles and how to fish with them, i got my bites in 5hrs whilst others around me struggled and i did it on 5 cup fulls, actually i had plenty left at the end of my session... lol👍😁😂
