Very nice Andrew. As a film maker myself and a person who love the Kalahari, I love each and every second of this series! Can't wait for the next episode. Cheers
good decision to chill out and camp the night. We used to have a four wheel drive expert in Oz by the name of Jack Absalom, whenever there was a problem that needed some time and effort his solution was to have a cup of billy tea. I followed the philosophy and it works, problem solved.
Andrew, FYI there is a strange audio glitch at ~ 6:30. Great stuff though, keep it coming! As a Utah native I don't often deal with mud stucks, mostly its just strait rock abuse.
+4xOverland I think I read somewhere that the BF Goodrich mud terrain tyres are 30% on road 70% off road just a thought :-) maybe you could confirm or when you have time make a video of the comparisons. I love the BF Goodrich all terrain tyres they are fantastic I can't wait to fit the new T/A K02 :-) keep up the good work Andrew I love all your reviews and expeditions
love your trips and videos!....any footage of that travel trailer mike pulled behind?.....I would like to see some cooking going on to watch thanks for all you do for us on u-tube ! Joe in Eureka, calif
+Jarrod C Ever heard of Tifors and snatch straps? Not everyone is weighing down their vehicles with unreliable electrical winches that then are on the wrong side of the car when needed.
+claus dettelbacher Yes, however, a snatch may not always get you out of trouble. They also depend on someone else to be there and be able to snatch you in the right direction. Additionally winches can be a lot more gentle, cause less track damage and potentially less vehicle damage. There are also the options of hydraulic and PTO driven winches if you don't favor the electric type. Mine is the electric type and completely reliable. I don't find the weight a problem as I have the correct rated suspension -also considering the 4WD weights about 2,500kg ..I don't see an additional 40kg an issue. I have a winch fitted and I carry snatch straps -I have found both invaluable in my travels. cheers.
Andrew you have a life that most of us want but few dare.

i noticed that the Prado did not get stuck as much.......
Were lifejackets required on that trail?! Great video once again.

BF Goodrich Mud terrain I think next time Andrew :-) great documentary I love it
+stephen lalor This expedition was 65 days on sand and gravel and just one day in mud. Next time, I would use the same tyres.

I thought you had a winch on your truck. Also, before snatch straps we used rope.
Thanks for another great vid.
Side-note; I noticed none of the 4wds were fitted with winches? -I am assuming this kind of country wasn't expected?

Could you give me the brand name of that marvelous little trailer?
why do you recover in reverse ? always worried about the cooling system if something snaps
Andrew are you packing anything like Maxtrax?
+fredbrackely surprised you asked. We used them in this video.
Hah. Thanks. I was getting constant interruptions trying to watch. It must have been during of those that you deployed them.
where's your green truck?
+0521carlos This was shot in 2010. My green truck build began in 2011.
That must have really sucked. But you witnessed something that only occurs in one's lifetime.
Check how the Russians deal with terrain like this, truly impressive
none of the 4wd's have the right tires thats why they keep getting bogged.
They're not proper mud trucks but that would make this trip 45 days of hard life and counting.
