I, too, lived out in the woods and--for me--it was everything terrifying about it lumped into a giant ball of horror(including Stack's voice, imminent threats presented, being so young when it began[8 in 87], and the implication of it being/knowing it was real). Scary movies never did anything to me, but this scared me almost enough to make up for all of them! Then, my dad loved it and we had 1 TV, so--on Tues night--this was what we were watching!
You can still find that piece here on YT as part of a compilation or two: some TH-camrs (such as "defpixel") have posted the entire show's soundtrack, straight from the original discs.

This is the later theme that was reworked from the original. All versions still give me the chills. I loved that show. Robert Stack was awesome.
