I actually WROTE to Lexus UK after test driving this car when it first came out. Remember they were already late to the EV party, so I was expecting great things. But I just could not fathom the overall high price, smallish battery, below average range and then the 50kW max CHADEMO charging! Basically, I asked them what the hell they were thinking?! They did reply. They thanked me and told me they would take my feedback onboard and involve the necessary technical departments! Who knows if it helped? The car did have some potential: Build quality, refinement etc. But it was destined to be a sales flop (Compliance car?) right from the start. MM

Well Tom it started off reasonably well but went down hill after you mentioned the charging times - who the heck in their right mind wants one of these when there are very good alternatives - such as the Leaf which can be had 2nd hand up here in Scotland.
I've driven one a couple of times and I really liked the drive. However as Tom says there are issues, the first time I drove it, the weather was practically perfect, the route I took was a nice mix of city, fast a-roads, and slower a-roads. the trip was 42 miles. I arrived at the destination with 126 miles (165 starting miles (indicated) and I was using the climate control the whole time). The return trip to the dealership took another 56 miles, I arrived at the dealer with 67 miles remaining, I wasn't driving like a saint or doing less than the posted limit to save the battery. So far so good given the propensity for electric cars to overestimate their range. I borrowed one again a little later in the year and repeated the same journey, temperature hovering around 0, snow on the ground and the climate control maintaining a pleasant 21 degrees, I only used the heated seats and steering wheel long enough to warm me up (a mile or so at the most), I arrived back at the dealer with ~25 miles and the low battery warning light on.
As a current Lexus owner (CT200h) I was really excited when they announced a BEV, sadly it has disappointed me, they now no longer offer me a car that suits my needs guess my next car won't be a Lexus...unless they do me a bloody good deal on a used one.

Honestly, the CHAdeMO is notably less of an issue if they made any attempt to work on the efficiency or charging speeds. There are older cars that can do 11kw on type 2 and upwards of 60kw on CHAdeMO. More importantly, they dont feel like a cop out
In Norway we have 1 mill km warrenty. The updated UX has got a 72,8 Kwh battery with 450 km etsimated max range (Its not Wltp tested yet))
Half arsed compliance rubbish from fancy badge arm of Toyota. Even their new Busy Forks is good on paper only if it were 2018

Avoid
Lexus for 2023 UX model here are three suggestions 1. Get a LFP long range battery 400km. 2. Change the DC fast charging to CCS with 100kw battery . 3. Lower the price.
They did increase the range and battery capacity on the new versions.

Too expensive as a local runabout and not viable on long trips. Not on my list. Time and technology have moved on. 'Fuelling' lacked forward thinking when designed, far too restricted. I liked the video because the intel was valuable.

I drove a Lexus UX hybrid once and in terms of the overall experience (apart from more up to date tech), it felt virtually identical to my dad's far cheaper mk2 Toyota Auris
It is spookily similar! I found it an improvement over my dads 2019 CT 200h, especially with regards to the ride quality
One of the most compelling reasons to get a Lexus is reliability, but most EV nowadays are pretty much more reliable than a regular car and are on par with Lexus reliability. It no longer makes any sense to get a Lexus for me as most car batteries get an 8+ year warranty, and if you don't get Drivetrain & Bodywork prob etc in the first 3 years it's improbable...Maybe Lexus is entering a dead road with the EV future coming

I think this car has been given a lot of bad reviews. I do not think it is well deserved. However, I have the newest generation, and I guess that is like a totally different car all considering!

That said, after watching the review, I will pass on this one.
Came here after the bargain second hand EV's video..... Then you got to Chademo and 50kW max charging and I said no! AND different ports on each side WTF! Toyota/Lexus have really lost the plot on EV's. Even their latest offering is soo forgettable I've forgotten what it's called. At least I can remember what the new forgettable Honda EV is called! :D
That's a terrible buy. Sort of sums up the problem with the rush to EV's. Far too pricey and limited by battery and charging technology.
It is so pathetic it is unbelievable. This shows Toyota has no interest in BEV.

The most boring cars ever, SUV's. every neighbour and its mam has one or wants one. What else is there but 4-door 5-seater EV's that cost €35.000 and up.
When the masses have to shift to EV's, bring more affordable EV's between €15k and €20k. And make them less huge with all the rediculous empty space.
Use less material, smaller cars are more efficient in transporting that 1.1 person on average.
Build 2-door 2-seaters, those will weigh less, smaller batteries and still have longer range.
Still waiting for an electric MX5 equivalent.
@@davidhumphries3614 cabrio's rulle :) The Fiat 500e Cabrio 42kW would be enough for us, but at €35.000 it is rediculous. They say, wait till price drops. . . . but that Fiat 500e Cabrio started in 2020 at €31.000.
Every EVhead tells the same since 2012, that EV's will get cheaper and cheaper in the coming 10 years . . . Well, Tesla prices are climbing every month, and so are the other EV's.
@@BMWHP2 When I was at Goodwood FoS recently, the cabrio 500e they had on display was £39,000!! Still had cloth seats etc
