Based on a patented technology, SOLABOLIC will significantly increase the economic efficiency of solar thermal power plants, through the next generation of parabolic trough solar collectors.
Over 100 years ago, suspension bridges vastly increased the span of bridge technologies, reducing both material consumption and manufacturing costs. The patented SOLABOLIC mirror system can do the same for the concentrated solar power (CSP) industry and achieve system dimensions nearly twice the size of the industry standard parabolic trough.
Using a similar construction of cables and main supports, SOLABOLIC can realize the industry's largest dimensions with 20-30% less material. The principle of the suspension bridge automatically creates a parabolic shape and therefore allows SOLABOLIC to utilize flat mirror segments instead of expensive curved glass segments. This allows lower costs as well as the possibility of maximizing local content in the developing countries, by enabling them to achieve a perfect parabolic shape without any high-tech manufacturing processes. That is both an industry first and a tremendous cost savings, translating into a 35% reduction in solar field capital costs and a 15% reduction in electricity cost (LCOE). This allows our industrial partner (licensee/EPC contractor), to more than double profits, and have nevertheless a 16% price advantage over conventional technologies.

Wouldn't putting this apparatus facing from east to west instead of from north to south eliminate much of the need for solar tracking? Or you would still need it?
what's cost of the reflector metal sheet?? need an answer when you got this because i'm gonna prepare parabolic trough for my project. and the video was ggood
Wind load? That trough is going to have a tremendous amount of force on it if it is facing the wind.

do you sell this? is it affordable for a home? Using suspension for a parabolic surface is nothing new.
