    I have been on Mounjaro since Halloween 2022, to help with my Type 2 diabetes and eeight loss.I have lost 35 1/2lbs so far. I take my shot on Sunday morning and like clock work I feel terrible on Monday - headache and nausea. But the rest of the week I feel pretty good. If I over eat or eat too much sugar, I feel really bad. I have about 60lbs left to lose. My diabetes now is non-existent! A1C yesterday was 5.2 (from 6.5) and my glucose is now under 100. Whoohoo!

      If you’re in the USA, do you have tips on how to get this drug cheaper that it’s full retail prices?

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have T2D, you can use the manufacturer coupon on Eli Lilly's website. You can also check the GoodRx App for cheaper prices in your area, but aside from that, I don't know a way to get namebrand meds for less.

    I guess I’m one of the lucky ones. The only side effects i have had is mild constipation. Upping my fiber helped with that. I’ve been on mounjaro for 3 and a half months and lost 46lbs my sugar and junk food cravings are 100% gone. I no longer over eat because I stop when I’m full now. This drug is a life changer for me. I’m on 5 mg now.

    Just started 5mg Sunday. The first 48 hours were awful. I forced myself to eat. I was severely tired and slept a lot. Yesterday was the first day I felt myself. I’m also feeling normal today. Constipation is real, however that was an issue for me before this medication. I’ve been on Linzess for about an year. I’m supposed to take it daily, but it’s too much with my job so I take it once a week and it helps big time. No sleep issues here. I will say there are periods throughout the day where I get a bad taste in my mouth, very dry...water helps. Drinking water actually helps with a lot of my side effects. As a cardiac nurse of 25yrs, please don't tell someone what they won't experience as a woman having a heart attack. YES they can have right arm pain and numbness, yes they can have a myriad of symptoms, jaw pain, either arm pain, neck and jaw pain, mid back pain, and mid sternal chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, tightness and heaviness of the chest. ALWAYS get checked if something is not a normal thing for you, any new onset of symptoms and NEVER let a doctor tell you it's anxiety without a work up for heart disease, which means bloodwork and an EKG and possibly a stress test. Doctors are VERY quick to tell a woman it's anxiety or a panic attack.

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My mother has had 3 heart attacks and never had any of those symptoms. The reason I said that was not to tell people to ignore them but to warn them that heart attacks for women can look very different (which is what my mother's cardiologist told her and all of us). I had never heard that before myself, and neither had she, so she never knew she was having a heart attack and thus waited way too long to seek treatment.
      I appreciate you addressing it and bringing all of this to people's attention. ❤️

      @@mindypweightloss I had a heart attack at 39 and also had none of those symptoms except for a dull ache for months mid-sternal, my body was trying to tell me something and I was not listening, it wasn't until I had the actual heart attack that I got the right arm pain and back pain. Always good to live a clean life, no smoking, low carb diet, that means carbs below 50grams a day and get regular exercise, go for a walk once or twice a day and have your triglycerides checked yearly, triglycerides are a big indicator of heart disease and vessel disease, a fasting insulin test to check for diabetes and elevated insulin levels and a CRP to check for vessel inflammation.

    My theory about the cold and the fatigue is that it is actually magnifying HYPOTHYROID symptoms. Those that have been previously tested for this usually only get a TSH test and not a FULL thyroid panel withT3 & T4 and testing for Hashimoto's antibodies.

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@mindypweightloss Hi, I have had full thyroid panels for over 20 years that came back normal. Then in March 2022 a doctor said that I need a scan or the thyroid and not just the blood tests. This is my 4th month on Wegovy & I have lost 51 pounds. I STILLLLL have extreme nausea Every. Single. Day! 😩 I dealt with months of constipation then it switched to diarrhea. BUT…here is my bottom line: I am almost never hungry- and I mean never! I make myself eat. The weight falls off. I have never exercised 1 day since starting the meds. When I say this Med works, I really mean it, because I literally have to make NO effort. My doctor has said that it is absolutely NOT a problem to eat so little, because I have plenty of fat to burn. I also have not had the first cold day, and I also am very hot natured. I have no hair loss. So, are the side effects worth it? Absolutely 100%! I take meds for the nausea and try to be close to a bathroom after I eat. I have never had dry mouth either, and whereas I have had insomnia since menopause 12 years ago, my sleep is much better since on the meds. I guess I say all this to say there is no standard of side effects for everyone. I would recommend anyone try it. I’ll also add that I’m a Masters educated RN with a specialty in nutrition.

      Hey Crystal,
      Thanks for sharing your experience. My hope with putting this video out was to let people know what was possible and how to cope with them IF you have them. When I started Wegovy in Octover 2021 there was very little information out there in the way of firsthand accounts and experiences so, I hoped it would bring people some comfort to know that even if you do have side effects, they are manageable.

      @@mindypweightloss really anyone who's taking the first dose. Valid correction. Lower hunger. Not zero hunger 🤣 I'm just debating if I should go up to 5 mg on week number two. From what I understand, 2.5 and 5 mg is supposed to just be therapeutic

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @nemodeals2034 One thing I wish I could go back and do is take my time titrating. I was in such a hurry to get to the highest dose to "lose the most weight as quickly as possible" that I didn't think about what would happen if I was at max dose and the meds stopped being as effective. (I didn't even know that was a thing at the time) If I had it to do over again I would have stayed at each dose until my weight loss slowed down or the positive effects started wearing off. I definitely wouldn't go up before the 4 weeks... I've heard of people ending up in the ER from side effects that way. But that's a discussion to have with your doctor. ❤️

    I started with Mounjaro in March. I’ve lost 30 lbs so far and will in two weeks start 7.. I can’t even tell you what the first weeks did to me. Every side effect possible plus extreme anxiety. That’s when I took control over the side effects myself. Zofran for nausea…. Which was the one thing I didn’t experience that often. Acid reflux….. major problem…. Called my doctor and she prescribed me a strong antacid. No more problem there. Constipation…. Still working on that… 1 Walmart laxative should do it. Insomnia…. Ambien…. But the most awful side effect for me was anxiety…. Called my doctor and she prescribed Alprazolam PRN. I do forget to drink enough water. Seems I sip my cold brew for hours ( only one per day) and am not feeling dehydrated at all. I gotta work on that. So at the end of 6 months I have no side effects per day at all. Learn to control your side effects. You will not even know that you took the injection. Oh…. 1more thing…. No sugar products on injection day. I am thrilled with my journey.

      I'm glad you've found a way that works for you, Barbara! The side effects are definitely manageable for most people. I chose to try the more natural route myself with supplements, etc, but my own side effects were fairly minor aside from the constipation, which is manageable with the probiotic and magnesium Glycinate. I would definitely caution you against taking a daily laxative as it can cause long-term damage to your system.

    in the past, i had experienced a rare condition in Americans, and that was low sodium - and the main symptoms was strong nausea and fatigue - so while you are drinking a lot of water, try and make sure you are not leaching out your electrolytes.

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know that can be a really common issue with low carb diets as well since glycogen holds onto water (and thus electolytes) in your tissue. When eating a very low carbohydrate diet, glycogen stores are depleted, and the water and electrolytes are flushed along with them... thus the "Keto flu".
      "Recommended" water intake is usually 0.5oz per pound of body weight... I don't consume that much. ❤️

If you don't have a bottle that stores 90+Oz at once I HIGHLY recommend filling one up the night before and storing in the fridge... refill your water cup throughout the day and when it's empty you have a little dance party. The one I use has timestamps on it to keep me on track throughout the day.

    most of the symptoms you are describing, I have experienced while doing a keto diet(diarhea, constipation, hair loss, being cold, etc...) and this is due to the rapid weight loss. I had told my doctor how cold i was feeling, and he told me that this is normal when you are in weight loss mode, because your metabolism is slowing down, trying to save your energy.

      I have quite a few videos from the beginning of my Mounjaro journey (July of last year) where I talk about that and include my doctor's visit where I talk to her about MJ. As far as cost... I was lucky enough to get in under the first coupon, so my experience wouldn't apply. I do have a video about the most recent coupon change where I talk about current pricing. ❤️

    Thank you for sharing these tips. I am switching over from Trulicity to Mounjaro. I took my first 2.5mg shot yesterday. With Trulicity, the only side effects that were bothersome were chronic constipation and nausea (just when increasing dosages and for just a few days). I lost weight with Trulicity but it was from restriction (unhealthy, I know) because it really didn't reduce my hunger very well. I did take Ozempic prior to Trulicity. Ozempic worked great for appetite control but I could not tolerate the never ending diarrhea. My hope is that Mounjaro has the great appetite control of Ozempic and the tolerable side effects of Trulicity (a girl can hope, right??!!). Check into hydrogen peroxide. Some say that it can damage healthy tissue. Really appreciate the videos you put out. Thank you for taking us along with you on your journey.

      You definitely want to talk to your Dr about proper caloric consumption. 700-900 calories a day isn't enough for basal metabolic function (meaning what your organs and various systems need to work, etc).

      @mindypweightloss  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to hear about the nausea and Sulphur burps. Ive heard that green, chamomile and peppermint tea can help with those.
      According to the drug literature the temperature of the Mounjaro will not effect the stinging. That's definitely been my experience. I've had it not sting straight out of the fridge and I've had it sting like crazy... same with letting it sit out... it's completely random.
      I did my first 10mg shot this morning straight out of the fridge and if it hadn't been for the little bit of blood I would have bet money it didn't even go in... that's how little I felt it... lol.

    The sulfuric burps, constipation, headaches after your injections, stinky farts 💨, feeling cold, possibly hair loss, when you drink alcohol you feel more hung over in morning, some hair loss, I mean I lost 11 lbs in 2 weeks but to me I’m not sure if all the side effects are worth it. Going to see if they fade with time but also they say it depends on your injection sight like trying to inject in a new location avoiding the belly area more like the 🦵 legs. You can leave your Mounjaro out up to 21 days before you have to discard of it in a sharps container. I leave mine out at room temp a day prior to injecting because the colder it is the more it will sting. It also depends on the needle 💉 not sure what size the Mounjaro needle it but it always does seem to sting room temp or cold. But ofcourse more when it’s cold. 😅 you can take some Pepcid or Prilosec for the heart burn. Also yeah you can eat what you want but remember what you eat will slowly empty out your stomach and stink up your burps so the cleaner you eat and drink more water the better you’ll feel I’m sure. For constipation drink some fiber like metamucil.

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jennifer,
      I eat as I like and don't have any GI issues at all aside from some minor constipation that is easily treated with the probiotics and Mag Glycinate.
      If you read the literature it specifically states that the temperature of the medication will not effect the sting and that has definitely been my experience. I always inject immediately out of the fridge and sometimes I feel nothing at all.
      If you have only been on the meds a couple of weeks many of the symptoms you are mentioning (stinky farts and headaches to name a few) could be associated with detox as well. If you weren't eating the best before and are now making healthier choices (especially drinking fiber) that will clean you out and that can get interesting. 😉

      Personally, I don't believe GLP meds cause hair loss... I believe it's the weight loss and lack of protein/nutrients in most diets among other deficiencies. I am still on GLPs and after increasing protein and addressing some deficiencies my hair has started to get better. ❤️
      Regardless of the hair loss, IMO your health is far more important and if the meds you are on now aren't helping... it's probably time to try something new or at least consider it with your physician. ❤️❤️

      It sounds like your body may need some additional time to adjust to the meds. If the side effects are bad enough that they are disrupting your life I would definitely contact your Doctor. You may need to go back to 2.5mg for another month just to give your body time to adjust. Many people have done that and had a much easier time going back up afterwards.

I have gained five pounds. Has anyone had this reaction and will it reverse and start working? Feeling a little confused about it all.

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Riva,
      Have you made any changes to diet or exercise at all? Often, when people start a new health journey, they will jump head-first into a new exercise regimen and, believe it or not, intense exercise (if you are usually sedentary, most things will seem intense to your body) can actually cause your body to gain weight temporarily. (Cortisol, water retention, hormones, etc).
      It could also be hormone related, not enough sleep, not enough water intake, any number of things that aren't related to the meds.
      Also keep in mind that the 2.5mg dose is not a therapeutic dose. It is just intended to get your body used to the medication. Many people don't start seeing results until the higher doses unless they are making major changes to their diet.

    • @RivaG

    • @mindypweightloss

      Hey Lori,
      Most people see decreases in side effects as the week goes on and they lessen as you go. Mindy - about halfway through you mentioned muscle soreness. Did you experience this only related to exercise or exertion, or was it random? I ask bc I started Mounjaro 2 days ago after being on Oxempic for about a year, and yesterday I had the most horrible soreness in my body that I've ever felt! It was primarily in my torso - front and back all the way up to my neck, all the way up to the base of my skill and into my face. It was even sore to the touch! It seems a bit better today. My arms & legs were not affected. Have you or any of your followers here experienced anything like that?

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely both. It exaggerates muscle soreness from exercise, but in the beginning, I would also have random muscle soreness, kind of like when you have the flu... feeling achy all over.
      I rarely get anything like that now. As with anything, if your reactions are severe or prolonged, I highly recommend talking to your doctor about them just to make sure it isn't anything more serious. ❤️

Lots of ginger, Gaviscon etc. I am wondering if anyone who experiences heartburn notice that it gets worse when you are standing doing never minor physical activities like cleaning the house? Ugh it gets so bad when I move around too much. I also get the muscle soreness in the same arm. It’s frustrating but trying to stick it out. I just took my first 5 mg shot, ironically I feel better after taking that then I did on the 2.5. Weird. I’ve only lost 6.5 lbs, this is my 5th week. Needing advice and insight. Am on my 6th injection at the minimum dosage of 2.5. Great first month, as I lost 20 pounds without side effects. But that fourth week I noticed slight fatigue. Now in my 6th week, I am too worn to exercise and needing rest between household chores. I have the B12 ordered that this lady recommended. Caffeine keeps me from napping, but does not increase my energy. Am 52 and just spent three years with fatigue for lack of estrogen and testosterone; just stating to feel 'normal' again until this. Am on no other meds besides estrogen. Am still 200 pounds overweight, but no other health issues.
    Will this fatigue go away?
    Anyone have luck with B12?

      I obviously lost way more on Wegovy but that isn't a fair comparison since it was the beginning of my weight loss journey and I have had some setbacks on MJ of my own making. Comparing apples to apples I lost more on the 5mg MJ than I did on one of the 1.7mg Wegovy months... I hope to see some really good results on the 10mg but we will just have to wait and see.

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jodie,
      I know that Saxenda has a MUCH higher incidence of side effects than Mounjaro (or Wegovy) does but if you want to be safe you can always start your injection on the evening before your weekend (assuming you work) so that if you do experience side effects, the worst of them should pass before you have to return to work.
      If you are one of the many who do not (the majority of people do not experience major side effects) you can add one day per week to your injection day until making it to your desired day.
      I have always injected first thing Monday morning because that's when I start my week. 🤷‍♀️
      I also do calorie cycling and the weekend is when we tend to eat out the most... so as the week progresses and the appetite suppression gets very slightly less I am able to make up for my calorie shortage during the week.
      Ultimately it won't make a difference as to IF you will get side effects so, it's just about taking it at a time that's convenient to help mitigate them if you do.
      Excited for you and your journey! Let me know how it goes! 🥰

    I have been on Mounjaro since August 2022, only lost 35# to date. I take it every Sunday and also follow the WW program. Right now I feel it works Sun, Mon, Tue and then after that it does not work. Very frustrated

      I understand completely... the appetite suppression and food noise side effects definitely diminish over time. Are you already at the max dose?

      If you are on it for weight loss, you may want to talk to your Dr about trying Wegovy if you haven't already. I lost way more weight and had fewer side effects... experiences are different for everyone, but I plan to go back to Semaglutide after my Mounjaro coupon runs out. ❤️

      @dbbeaulieu5371 If you are T2D, then your insurance may cover Ozempic, which is the exact same drug as Wegovy.
