    Hi Mindy, thank you for sharing. I have struggled too with my weight all my life and recently learned that I have Lipedema. It affects 11% of women and is a lot of times misdiagnosed as obesity. I wonder if this is something you may have too based on your story. You have worked so hard and are such an inspiration.❤

      Hi Rachel, My mother has both lipedema and lymphedema. They are such frustrating and difficult diseases. I don't have any of the pain associated with them and I lose weight too "easily" for it to be likely. I also don't have the kind of swelling most associated with those conditions. Thank you so much for the suggestion and I hope you're able to find treatment that helps with your lipedema! 💜💕

    this is one of my favorite videos of yours - I am 60 yo and started on Mounjaro due to A1C of 10 and high blood pressure (starting weight: 311 current weight: 256) I thoroughly enjoy your videos and your recipes and I am really proud of you. This is not easy - like many of us I've been fighting obesity since I hit puberty and have done all the things -- all the diets - all the exercise - and I appreciate your honesty and helpfulness. WE need to continue to educate the naysayers who think this shot is a "easy" pill to weight loss - we all have worked hard to lose the weight. The meds just help through providing us with those missing pieces. I celebrate 1 year since I started Mounjaro in November (on 5mg for 33 weeks) and I have to say it was the best decision I've ever made. We are all different.. we all respond differently but I am so glad we have this available to us. I'm looking forward to retiring healthier than I would have! Thanks again for a great discussion.

    Every cheat day you have, every day you don't exercise, and every day you put your diet off is another day you are away from your goal.

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't believe in "cheat days". (It indicates a disordered relationship with food) Exercising every day is not beneficial for anyone. (it increases stress/cortisol levels and does not leave room for muscle recovery) My goal is to get healthy... sure... part of that is losing weight... and I have... over 125lbs of it... that doesn't go away as long as that remains my focus.

    • @theonerm2
      @theonerm2 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@mindypweightloss I don't mean like lifting weights or hard-core cardio every day. That would be a bit much for me too. I consider walking as exercise too, though, and just about anyone can do it. You can do it anywhere, almost. Also, if you're shy about exercising in public, walking can be done at home, provided you have enough space to do it safely. I've always been kind of shy about exercising in public. Also, walking is something that won't make you stand out, everybody that can walk does walk. Walking and other light exercises can indeed be done daily, and the increased blood flow will help you recover faster than if you just rest all day. You can get creative with how you incorporate it into your day. I walk every morning for at least 30 minutes after I wake up. I do around 3 or 4 walks per day, because my lifestyle isn't very active. If I didn't do the walks, I would be sedentary every single day. A sedentary lifestyle is bad, and it makes weight loss harder. When you're big, it's easy to lose weight without moving around much, but the closer you get to your goal, the harder it becomes to maintain or lose weight without exercise. If you're able to do it daily, you should. Everybody can at least do a little extra than what they have to do just for the regular day-to-day tasks at a minimum. I understand that maybe you personally don't want to do it every day, I'm not saying you have to, but any way you want to look at it, it's still lost progress if you don't.

    I have followed you since the start Mindy, on my own intermittent GLP1 weightloss journey - intermittent in my case due stock and suplly issues in the UK. I loved your early videos in the kitchen with the occasional happy dance! Thank you for your honest sharing about the challenges of weight loss slowing down and those negative thoughts which crept in. I am exactly there at the moment. After some great success on Wegovy, I have stalled and even started to gain as old habits have resurfaced. It isn't plain sailing with a GLP1 as people often assume.

    So good you explain what you’ve been through , this is not for sissies for sure. you look great! Well believe this , the 2.5 MJ came on strong well it didn’t put me down but the 3 rd day in i could really tell it! mater of fact , i decided not to take it ,didn’t feel really mentally like i needed to. so my first injection this time is going to be a second week injection i’ve got 3 days to go and i eat when i feel hungry and it doesn’t bother me. I’ve lost a lil over one pound!!! i’m not sure i did that the last time ill take it! but what’s better is my Sugar numbers are so much better in just the 2 weeks i was going down hill was at 59% on my target. and today it’s at 89%!! So that’s great i want my number down. But if it’s bothering me too bad im not gonna take it i really think at this point if i take it every 2 weeks why not? i’m older and i think that has a lot to do with it, there’s a lot going on in my life to feel as bad and not even able to fix food excercise or even walk to mailbox but now im beginning to see my hoarding house im making a dent in it! Yay’ Great video’ see ya next time . 🤗

Thinking of asking Dr to increase to .5 but everyone says stay low for as long as you can. Grateful for no side effects! Def cut out all junk food and sugar. I def could do better with the water intake! Sending good wishes to you!😊

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey Emmy, I'm not a fan of "cutting out" anything. Any form of restriction for most people eventually leads to relapse and weight gain. As long as it's sustainable for you and you can go the rest of your life without sugar... good on ya... that just isn't me. 0.5-2lbs per week is considered sustainable weight loss. As long as you are maintaining that (8lbs in 1.5 months is well within that range) I would stay on lower doses as long as you can. But as always, that's a conversation best had with your doctor. 💜💕

    Mindy, I’m so glad you were able and willing to share your honest journey with GLP-1. I came to YT looking for someone who would do just that, and who wasn’t into restricting any particular types of foods. I have appreciated so much your intelligence, your wit, and your authenticity. For various reasons, it was almost a year and a half into following your journey before I was able to get on the meds. Because of you, I was so well prepared, and I attribute a lot of my success to having the benefit of your experience. I am a super-responder, too, though I definitely struggled more with side effects at the beginning than you seemed to. (Thank goodness for the kindness of Redditors helping so much with that). But from you I gained knowledge and tools for managing a calorie deficit in a sane and healthy way. I will always be so grateful. ❤🌳❤️

    I’m confused. These drugs are appetite suppressants. One can eat a normal, balanced diet and, if the drug is working, one eats less, not cooking special breakfast pizzas.

      I'm confused by your comment as well... the drug is working... I am eating a balanced diet... I am eating in a deficit... If you learn to cook using swaps for lower calorie higher protein ingredients you can still eat special breakfast pizza and remain in a deficit... it's how I've lost over 125lbs. 🤷‍♀️

    I am inspired by your video Mindy. You look beautiful and you’re so energetic and encouraging. i’ve been up and down with my weight for a few years and I have changed what I eat. I was losing weight and a month ago. I fell and busted my kneecap on the corner of this shower thing in the bathroom at this hotel, basically it’s a walk-in shower and the part that keeps the water from running out was raised up and that’s what I hit my knee on. ..and I say that anyway it’s not getting much better so my doctor is sending me for an x-ray. I unfortunately didn’t go to see one after this happened thinking that it would just get better if I kept ice on it, but it’s just completely insane like it was bruised from the top of my knee behind my knee all the way down my leg to my foot so also I asked her to prescribe me Wegovy and she sent that in and I just seen that it was filled so I’m ecstatic and so anxious and eager to go pick this prescription up. I really do enjoy walk in, but I have fibromyalgia and neuropathy and when it’s wet my arthritis with the other stuff. It just hurts everywhere. so I had been losing weight before that had happened, and then I was like stuck on the couch with my leg up ice on it feeling terrible because I weighed myself and the weight that I lost I gained back . So I have a new doctor and she wanted to know about my family history and there is heart problems, blood pressure. I have blood pressure problem, diabetes, cancer, both of my parents side of the family and I asked her about Wegovy or something because I’ve seen it online right before I was to go to the doctors appointment so she just crawled it in and I just looked up how to administer this and found your video and I am anxious to get this medicine tomorrow and I hope that I can communicate with you on this journey or find other people that have currently weigh 199 pounds and it’s so humiliating to say that but I am determined no matter what I do i’m going to lose this weight and I hope I have to throw all my clothes away next year because I hope to get this weight off and keep it off I have a 12 year-old daughter to raise and I’ll be 52 next month. I just don’t understand. I really do eat healthy. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables that I just think is and I don’t get enough exercise but it’s hard to do that when I get this problem with my knee, I mean I can sit down and do stuff, but I mean, I have a stationary bike and I can’t even ride that because magnet pops every time I do it. I’m afraid I’m gonna cause damage so I have a appointment to get this x-ray on Wednesday and a mammogram as well and bloodwork, cause I haven’t had any blood work done in over a year in the last time that I did. Everything was normal or blown or slightly above, I have a doctors appointment in the month, so that’ll time out to about the time that I start taking this medicine. Hopefully there’ll be something change. I hope there’s no bad results with any of my bloodwork or my tests. I haven’t discussed this with anybody, so this is my first time actually saying anything out loud about any of us regarding Govee or my concerns with my health because of my family history when my husband knows I wanna lose weight. My kids do intermittent fasting and I don’t think that’ll be very healthy for me to starve myself. I just wanna lose the weight and keep it off so I’m wondering if this will be will give me energy and it says it causes nausea so I was wondering if you or anyone had experienced that and if there’s anything that you can take eat or drink to help with that well I hope that someone’s read this and cannot respond to me. I feel really selfish putting this on here when all these people are struggling from these hurricanes and floods. My heart and prayer should go out to everyone affected by them either be in touch by the traumatic events or just loving someone that’s been affected with. I just hope our country can overcome all thisand they get the help that they need. God bless you and I hope to hear from you and you look wonderful.❤

    What you said about perfectionism jumped out at me - do you think in terms of seeking perfection/control that previously food was your drug to let off steam from everything else in your life you were attempting to control? I’m familiar with the idea that restricted eating is a common woman seeking control outlet - have never considered that over eating may be a coping mechanism for people who seek a respite from everything else they’re trying to control. Been watching you since the beginning- I was on wegovy for a quick 3 months- wasn’t for me but I’ve loved following along with your success Great work!

    I started my wegovy weight loss journey without tracking. I had tracked and tracked and tracked in the pass with WW and it just didn't work. I got so involved in calories and points that it was overwhelming and I knew I would not stick to tracking so I opted to not track. I would attempt to follow my full feeling and make healthier choices along with eating the higher calorie items in moderation. So far it has worked and I have been on wegovy for 18 months and have lost 60 lbs. It has been a slow lose but I do not feel deprived and feel I eat "normal". Slow losing is sometimes stressful but I believe this will help me in the future. I still have to convince myself not to eat when my brain is telling me I want something to eat, but that has gotten easier too.

    Congratulations on having a new and important learning experience and believing in yourself. This video meant something special to me because I reached my goal weight a few months ago, but was stuck at 1200 kcal/dy. I track obsessively and was absolutely certain I'd gain all of my weight back (some 65 lbs). But I didn't and the weight stayed pretty stable (within 3-5 lbs). It was unsatisfying to be stuck at 1200 kcal, however. So... I'm currently reverse dieting, which means I'm adding about 50 kcal/wk back to my diet and increasing my strength training which is supposed to allow me to reach a more reasonable maintenance calorie goal, which for me is 1750 kcal/dy and then transition to purely intuitive eating. While I'm traveling down this path, I still have to track calories (50 kcal/wk is a minuscule increment) but I'm focused on the goal: eating without counting. But I have to learn what 1750 kcal looks like without jumping there or I really will gain weight. Apparently, you can teach your body to adapt to higher calorie counts if you do it slowly and incorporate extra strength training (which will focus on building/keeping muscle mass). I will not be losing more weight this way and I don't need/want to. But I don't want to gain either. I really understand your fear of losing the control that counting calories gave you, but there is a point when you have to trust that you've educated yourself enough to ride without the training wheels. Your video is a great reminder to me that no matter where we are in our journeys, we all have things in common and those things are more important than our differences. Thanks for sharing your life so openly with this community. We need more people like you. 😊

      Reverse dieting is an AMAZING tool and I wish it were more talked about. I'm so glad you found it and that it's working for you. I agree that calorie counting is a fantastic educational tool and I don't know that I will completely abandon it... but learning to function without it is essential at this point in my journey. 💜💕

    I discovered Intuitive Eating in 2022, and read the book and did the workbook with an RD. I took several online courses and read a number of books, listened to a lot (and I mean a LOT) of podcasts. The good part was learning how to listen to my body and to evaluate food sanely. The bad part was gaining a lot of weight and falling prey to distorted ideas about being “healthy” while being fat. Improving my relationship with food was very helpful and I have carried those lessons into my weight loss journey and day to day life. The exposure to Fat Activism was not helpful and in my opinion is another rabbit hole of distorted thinking about body and health. I totally get needing a break from tracking and learning about Intuitive Eating can be a wonderful thing. Just watch out for the pitfalls. There is a lot of weird, cult like thinking out there that can and has derailed people badly. Your channel was one of the most helpful parts of my journey back to sanity and healthy weight loss. Maybe “the” most important. I track because I need that awareness to stay in a healthy deficit. It’s still a learning process. I suspect I’ll continue to fall back on it throughout my life to help me stay healthy. But IE drilled into my head to not judge food as good or bad, to value my own preferences and experience of eating as a quality of life issue. It got me out of orthorexia. So I can approach tracking without making myself crazy. That’s just my experience. I know you will find a good path. ❤️🌳❤️

      There are already several things I've read in the book that have made me roll my eyes. I know there will be things I take and leave. (as with any philosophy) Mostly... I want to learn how not to be so hard on myself... and I want to understand why my relationship with food is so completely screwed up and how to *actually* fix it. I don't know that IE will do that for me... but I'm willing to learn about it and see what it's all about. I don't think I will be able to *completely* abandon calories as a concept because I know that being in a deficit is the only way to lose weight. (I even just read a part in the book that specifically states that IE is not recommended as a weight loss tool since a big part of it is about accepting yourself as you are) but my reasons for losing weight aren't really to look better... they are to be healthier... would I enjoy being smaller too? Sure... but it's not the aim. I already snagged me a man who loves me exactly as I am. Learning IE will mostly be a good tool in my belt for maintenance... and we all know how I feel about preparing for maintenance. Thanks as always for your feedback, lady. I love hearing from you. 💜💕

      @@mindypweightloss Sounds like you have a healthy attitude, as I’d expect. 😘 I think you’ll find the exercises that help with interoception helpful, as well as the concepts of self-compassion and food neutrality. Those are pretty much Gold. There’s a lot of good stuff in there. It’s the parts which preach that you cannot practice intuitive eating while trying to lose weight that I found to be the most harmful. The idea that you have to completely give up all hope of weight loss , and the fear mongering that if you try to lose weight, you just end up fatter that I found to be most egregious. It really loses its way there. There is a fundamentalist tone to all the parts involving HAES that I would avoid like the plague. However, IE can be so helpful in making peace with food if you can bypass all the other stuff. I struggled with binging, overeating, and orthorexia all my life until I found the concepts in there. It’s where I first learned to avoid diet fads and weird food rules. It’s also where I learned to be skeptical of the concept of food addiction. The next most helpful resource for me, as kind of a bridge out of the “anti-diet” world and to understanding “why” I am the way I am, has been the books and interviews of Giles Yeo. Highly recommended. Love to you as you continue to find your way 🌳♥️🌳

    Great job, twin. I obsessively track my food, but right now, not doing it would give me too much angst. I’m currently halfway through a 2-week vacation. I’ve been on an intuitive eating journey since 2021. I did initially gain 70 lbs after giving up restriction (this was before GLP-1s). It took a very long time for me to learn a new way of eating and also how to unlearn so many other things. Others have mentioned Christy Harrison. I followed her paid program and then one on one counseling with a different RD for about 9 months. Something that Christy talks about a lot is how many people think IE is the hunger-fullness diet and that you make all decisions based on your gut/intuition. That’s not really true. IE is also about making conscious choices knowing you will feel your best later. Like eating a big meal because you know you won’t have a chance to eat later. IE has helped my GLP-1 journey because there are times I force myself to eat knowing my body needs it, and make different food choices than what my body is craving because I have a better sense of how my entire body will feel once I make that choice. It’s quite a process, but it’s so incredibly freeing to have a healthy relationship with food.

    • @mindypweightloss
      @mindypweightloss 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's what I'm realizing. I had such a distorted understanding of what IE really is... and I want so badly to be able to understand how to interpret my body's hunger and fullness cues (which I realize will present its own challenges on a GLP medication). I'm grateful to have the opportunity to work with a RD one on one to understand and talk through all of it. I feel like I'm learning how to be a person all over again when it comes to food. 😫💜

      I'm realizing that while I had sold myself on using my weight as data I am DEFINITELY using it as a way to measure my success... and while there's some truth in that in the long term validating my choices based on the number on the scale (good or bad) is not a healthy place to be... going to move toward much longer breaks between weigh-ins.

I threw away my Intuitive Eating book shortly after starting my GLP-1, disgusted that I had tried to follow its principles for years but my body just wasn't sending the cues that I needed.
