I love how you modified the Rivendell! Thank you for taking the time to detail what you did in Ravelry. I haven’t checked yet but based on your result I DESIRE to knit it. Now, can my 73 fluffy me wrap my brain around the pattern changes. I have enjoyed your vlog this morning and subscribed. Looking forward to more lovely knits.
I am so impressed with your modifications on the Revendell! I also enjoyed hearing about your other projects, and your acquisitions too. Thank you for this episode!
Ohh that Rivendell cardigan is GLORIOUS! ❤️ I’ve played yarn chicken in a double-knit button band situation (yarn was discontinued 😩) I did a very plain and simple crochet edge as I never intended to button it up and it looks pretty good 😊
Your Rivendell Cardigan is gorgeous and your mods are brilliant. Very inspiring! Enjoying your podcast. Congrats on blowing through your 1000 subscriber goal!
I am also doing the Courage Henley test! Or rather, I was because I finished it unusually quickly. Now I’m working on a cardi test knit for Alicia Plum and some pullovers for my kids for Christmas. My knitting time is severely reduced this autumn thanks to a new baby though
With the double knit button band, instead of starting at one bottom corner and knitting all the way around, you could always start at the back neck and knit down each side. That would allow you some more flexibility on body length just at the expense of a seam or pickup line at the back neck. It also means you could work them two at the time and line up your button holes and button placement 😊
Great suggestion! I though she could do knit until the ribbing, then do Judith magic caston and start at one end and knit around to the other, and then estimate yarn for the ribbing and the rest of the band. But your suggestion is better! 👌🏻🤓😃
Omg! I didn’t even know this was possible but it’s genius! I’m gonna finish the body to the length I want and see how I’m doing with the yarn, and I’ll definitely consider doing this if it comes to that!
You may benefit from watching Tash @mostly knitting. She recently had a similar issue with her champagne cardigan and she both increased the decrease in the sleeve to use less yarn and reduced the double knit band by a couple of stitches but made sure the button hole was central. I hope this helps. Tash is also great at knitting maths.
Oooh, I didn’t know that Ventzel made a cardigan of that design - I thought she only had that huge coat. Now I want to make this as well! 🤩 Garntopia in Oslo sells all the popular yarns and ships throughout the world, so check them out next time. They’re my favourite yarnshop and ship really quickly. And you get a lollipop with your order! 😂
Hi Michaela, loving the podcast. Seriously impressed with your modifications on the Rivendell - I'm knitting about the same length of time as you are and I would NOT be brave enough to figure that out! As a fellow Dublin gal, just wondering where do you order from in Europe for the likes of peer gynt, filcolalana, knitting for olive etc? I am a certain Dublin knitting shop's best customer but would really love to give some of the yarns I keep hearing about on TH-cam a go!
Aw thank you so much! So I’ve ordered KFO directly from their website - shipping is free on your first order! I got the Tilia from WollTraum (linked in the description) and I actually got the Sandnes Garn yarns in person when I was in countries that sold it, but someone in the comments recommended Garntopia in Oslo so you could check out their website 😊
Your Rivendell is turning out so beautifully, I think your version will be way more cohesive than the original! 😍 The Karla Cardigan/Cape are also on my wishlist. I didn't know the pattern is worked in mosaic knitting. As I haven't heard the best about her pattern writing style (including a lot of mistakes) I'm still restrained of trying my luck, though her pieces are truly lovely. I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on it. Wolltraum is one of my go to online shops, their customer service is always very nice.
Thank you so much ☺️ I haven’t made any of her patterns yet so I’m not sure about the quality of them, but I’ll make sure to report back when I get around to making it 🫡
Have you ever knit with wool from the Doulton Flock? All their sheep are allowed to live to the end of their natural lives. I’m planning to make a huge purchase because of that and would love to know about the yarn from your perspective.
maybe knit the button band from the back neck down each side? that way you could stop and then finish the body until you have enough to finish the button band
Someone else also suggested that and I had no idea it was a thing! Although it seems obvious in hindsight 😅 I’ll definitely keep it in mind for when I get to that point
The v thing you are talking about … I thought I had always heard it was from the type of spin/ twist in it… s versus c I think… I am not sure but I don’t think it’s a Superwash thing

Thank you so much, that’s so sweet 🥰
Your modifications of the Rivendell are wonderful. The cardigan will look much more polished and professional.
Thank you! 🥰
I love your modification on Rivendell Cardigan! Tips are quite useful because I also love making my life complicated and modifying patterns!
Thank you! ☺️
Those are amazing sweater mods for someone who has only been knitting for 2 years! Well done!!!
Thank you so much 😊❤️
Wow your modifications are amazing. Well done figuring that out
Thank you! ☺️
The Rivendell will be amazing! I love the colors and modifications you made. I really enjoyed your acquisitions :)
Thank you 😊❤️

Thank you so much! I think a double knit button band will look great on this cardigan, so I’m determined to make it work 😅
I really love all your work with your Rivendell Cardigan! It is looking SO good!😍
Thank you so much!

I also finished mine pretty quickly! I’m not sure why but I won’t question it 😂 Congrats on the new addition!

Looking forward to seeing your Ériu & mohair project 😉
Thank you! I’ve since swatched and am really happy with the fabric so it was a great shout 😌
Wonderful!
Thank you!
Love your Rivendell! Mine is almost the same colour. I have done a lot of tests, but have never found a chat helpful. Google docs are better for me.
Ah interesting! Have you finished yours?

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll definitely check out her channel 😊

I haven’t ever heard of it actually! I’ll look into it ☺️
I did not know the cardi by Anne Ventzel was a mosaic pattern…..it was on my list too to make…..so I have 4 now for the YFK Kal🤔😇
Someone else also commented that so I started to question myself, but I double checked and it’s definitely mosaic 😂
@@Stitchesinstem I immediately believed you, i did not check the pattern yet….I just knew I wanted to make it.. it is very nice present for your mum!

What the heckins! My husband and I were in Cork for part of our honeymoon. I searched for yarn shops and nothing came up!!! How????
Well it’s primarily a dyeing studio I guess, rather than a yarn shop!
The v thing you are talking about … I thought I had always heard it was from the type of spin/ twist in it… s versus c I think… I am not sure but I don’t think it’s a Superwash thing
Yeah it’s not specific to all superwash yarns, I’ve just noticed it in a lot of commercial superwash yarns!
