I can't help but imagine the person fixing the anomaly is a guy coming in with a rolled up newspaper and smacking the ghosts until they stop acting up.
"Intruder reported." I felt that there are bunch of people run into the house and beat the shit out of those intruders.. "There, we fixed it for you, what's next?" John: "the building is missing.."
You break into a house to make some money, you spot a security camera and wave at it, knowing that it doesn't matter since you have a mask anyway. You get out of the house and a bunch of people pull up in a van and beat you up, as you're fading into unconsiousness you hear one of them say "anomaly fixed"
The thing that gets me about this game is that while there's very little actual lore, it does have like, the *suggestion* of a lot of lore. Like, who do you work for? Why does this job exist? What are the anomalies? How do they get removed? So many questions yet basically zero answers
I like the idea of this world where these weird anomalies appear so frequently that you only need to report one and it gets corrected. I find it really unsettling.
What little lore there is also brings up even more questions. In all three games (as there are two other games in this series), the name "Timothy" is brought up and it seems like he's somehow involved in or responsible for these anomalies. But that just make everything stranger, because we don't know who he is, why he's doing this, or if he is even human.
Felt pretty generic and shallow to me, tbh. None of it really stands out in any way, it's just the same formal/military jargon from some unknown entity that you get in other games, in yet another FNAF-ish game. They could've done things like name the locations more than 'old house' and 'new house', give the monsters unique names beyond just 'ghost', etc. To each their own, I suppose.

Mad respect for no jumpscares. The fact that you have to pay really close attention trying to spot little differences, sometimes leaning in to see, gives the dev the perfect chance to really screw you over with some up in your face scares. They didn't do that though, and I really appreciate it. Restraint you rarely see from indie horror stuff.
My favorite anomaly I've seen is one of the intruders. You'd try and fix him but afterwards see "failed to fix anomaly." and the intruder then acknowledges you which is an unexpected scare. and then seeing "no anomaly of type 'intruder' found in (location)." after trying to report again tops it off. I don't know if this only happens with a specific intruder or specific location or if it's chance with any intruder etc but I know it can happen and It hits especially with you being used to the anomalies being fixed. having the "fixing anomaly" screen end only to see the anomaly still there and closer pulls you back for a moment.
And that only works so well because of how rare it is. Once again, showing some incredible restraint with making some of your most effective scares significantly more effective... by making sure half your audience doesn't get to experience them.

I like to imagine that when you report the intruders, agent 47 steps into the scene and fiber wires them and takes them out of sight before the image returns.
While not an outright horror game, it's still really quite creepy, and the seeking out subtle changes is a simple but fun concept. I'll need to go get this myself for sure.

I don't know if someone else brought it up, but i think the secret that the main menu references has something to do with the voice you heared at 3:26. It said that you had to go to the balcony at 3:30 AM and insert Mandela's death date. You didn't do it because you couldn't understand the voice.
It's funny how I wasn't even paying much attention, but in some cases (actually it was 1 or 2 times) I would find my eyes automatically directing at some thing for no reason, and then finding out it was indeed different. Interesting game. Would want to see more.
A story arc would make this more fun, like you work to watch on other houses and in the end it's your house you're observing and you see intruders and ghosts and sht and they are all interconnected or something.
yea this is already really cool but there's so much room for this concept to grow. A story arc, more intense and scary locations to monitor later on as you progress. Perhaps things to manage on top of simply spotting anomalies, or some anomalies being dangerous in some way, where while the report is taking it's sweet time pending, you have to be careful and do something (or not do something) to avoid the anomaly doing something bad to you.
@@Vonias I do think that if the more dangerous anomalies were too common then they wouldn't hit as hard as they do. However, maybe the lack of events was just bad RNG.
@@Vonias the game does have a story. It's got two more games in the series and a bunch of secrets. I can also say that there are anomolies like what you described. Without spoiling, there are anomolies that get closer over time. (I experienced that one. The anomoly got closer and closer until the report finished. Creepy stuff) there is also another anomoly that really catches you off guard when you report it, play for yourself and you'll see what I mean.
At 3:26 it says "Balcony. 3:30. Input year of Mandela's death." (this allegedly leads to a secret ending) I know this video is a year old at this point but it's fun how many little secrets and weird things are in these games. I know by this point John has said the formula has worn on him, but I keep finding myself coming back to these videos and I always notice/hear something new.
This is such a weirdly neat concept for a game I'm actually shocked something like this has never been done before. Like the idea of being just some SCP security guard watching over highly anomalous areas to ensure stability in the region? I like it!
Would love to see more of this - just as a heads up, since I've seen good runs fall to this, in the new house theres an anomoly in the kitchen that needs a double report. First as an intruder, which will fail, then as a new report that shows up in the list.
This game is great tbh. I hope John plays this again, specifically another new house run. There's one anomaly that happens in the kitchen that I'd love for him to see.
Please play the Japanese horror game "Go Home." I only found out about it recently and it creeped me out. It was definitely something...different. Edit: Glad to see that some agree! :D
The backstory I have in my head for this is that this is an SCP, the cameras are showing live footage of either a house that doesn't really exist, no longer exists, or a house the SCP Foundation can't find, and you're playing as a D rank or intern or something monitoring the footage. Still NO idea how correctly reporting fixes the anomalies or what happens when you lose.
I actually really love this game and was excited to see you play it, I'd love more of it myself. I think it's actually bizarrely effective with the spookiness when figures actually show up.
after playing this game myself I have to say your experience was actually pretty tame compared to what I've seen. there are a lot creepier things that can appear
22:00 I was thinking the same thing. The WTTG atmosphere would be so perfect in the background of this. Keeps people on edge. Imagine if you had access to see your own office where your character is on the camera and you got to fix anomalies creeping on yourself. That'd be very creepy.
This is the first game I’ve seen that legit gives me chills. I think it’s just the emptiness and isolation of everything coupled with the eerie paintings and the feeling that something is off.
The menu music sounds like someone is trying to tune an instrument except they don't know what note they're trying to tune to so they're just winging it.
I’m genuinely impressed, John. I didn’t expect you to enjoy this game haha. But you are really good at anything that needs you to remember things. Which is why you were able to notice slight changes hahahah because I struggled while trying to look with you 😆
I love how the title says "I'm on Observation Duty." and the monster in the thumbnail is circled like john is like. "I found it, I have done my observation duty"
You're actually the first person I've seen play this--I never knew it existed until today! But now I find myself really intrigued by it and wanna see if it gets spookier haha
this game was actually really cool, the way it got creepier was really nice because you weren’t expecting that type of scare from the usual anomalies being goofy or just not typically scary. nice vid john !
wow this was a bizarre experience. Because these anomalies are such a mixed bag, it gives off different feelings or threatening, non threatening, to creepy and onward. Couple that with John's playstyle and reactions really made this immersive to the point where wanted to go back and see if I could catch some anomalies that was missed initially. This game makes me also wish to play it! Hope John gets to play the second one that some of these comments are saying! Thanks for playing!

"This House people in It: The Game" is what I want
it's hurting my brain trying to think of what type of anomaly they are
Came from Insym's video where it ended with him unable to get the secret at 3:30 I cant believe John just got it so easily
In a way, this sort of reminds me of Silent Hill 4: The Room when cleansing your apartment of hauntings
oh shit now you mention it
Oh yeahhh ...good callback.
I was getting those vibes too
this was oddly enjoyable actually, despite how simple it seemed on the surface, glad you had fun!
I forget everything that's not in my immediate sight so i too am impressed
It's funny how I wasn't even paying much attention, but in some cases (actually it was 1 or 2 times) I would find my eyes automatically directing at some thing for no reason, and then finding out it was indeed different. Interesting game. Would want to see more.
Seen a lot of youtubers playing this, but I didn't watch none. Been waiting for your playthrough
True G
@@GamerKid11 What are the other 2 games' names?
I'm glad bathroom guy made an appearance. The reactions to it are always funny. The last thing anyone is expecting in a game like this.
At 3:26 it says "Balcony. 3:30. Input year of Mandela's death." (this allegedly leads to a secret ending)
I know this video is a year old at this point but it's fun how many little secrets and weird things are in these games.
This is where the twitch chat comes in handy lol.
I’d love to see him stream this!!
@@racheljane2495 It'd be a lot of fun! I spy with the whole chat 😂.
It's simple but effective, the intruder anomalies were definitely the creepier moments
I found out about this game a few days ago. Was hoping you would play it. My day is made!
The guy in the washroom startled me when he appeared. LOL My goodness.
“The anomaly’s aren’t gonna be as obvious as a guy waving in the background”
shadow on the floor “are you sure about that”
This game is great tbh. I hope John plays this again, specifically another new house run. There's one anomaly that happens in the kitchen that I'd love for him to see.
"I guess they're all not gonna be as obvious as some guy in the background waving"
*Missing giant obvious shadow figure on the floor*
~moves out to next camera~ OH WAIT GO BACK-
Ngl i took almost the exact same photo as your pfp and i kinda freaked out for a sec lol
@@theletsplayer9503 can promise I took this photo myself but awesome that you have the same taste in pics
@@kurrito8916 i mean, who can resist that shadow sillouette and pink/blue sunset
"There's no way you have a plant in the bathtub" Clearly he's never had a "plant mom" friend whose bathroom is LITTERED with plants for the humidity
Right 😁 Also it's a good trick to water your plants if you're on vacation.
"Someone really likes their guitars"
Me: This is probably Bonnie's house when he's not on the FNAF stage. lol
“Concentrate, concentrate”
The intruder immediately makes him loose focus
There is just a guy crouching on a dresser in your room looking al uncomfortable and awkward LOL, had me dying
I like how eerie this game is. It's so quiet and seeing these random things be extremely abnormal when they were just fine last time you checked
Please play the Japanese horror game "Go Home." I only found out about it recently and it creeped me out. It was definitely something...different.
Edit: Glad to see that some agree! :D
I remember that one!! It's trippy as hell haha
Yes PLEASE
The backstory I have in my head for this is that this is an SCP, the cameras are showing live footage of either a house that doesn't really exist, no longer exists, or a house the SCP Foundation can't find, and you're playing as a D rank or intern or something monitoring the footage. Still NO idea how correctly reporting fixes the anomalies or what happens when you lose.
I've waited patiently all these years for this exact moment...
I found an anomaly, these houses don't have any breakfast, toast, cornflakes.
I actually really love this game and was excited to see you play it, I'd love more of it myself. I think it's actually bizarrely effective with the spookiness when figures actually show up.
John: freaking out about a pot that has always been there
The Faucet:
I was looking at my tv screen so intensely that I thought the fly walking on the screen was a anomaly.
after playing this game myself I have to say your experience was actually pretty tame compared to what I've seen. there are a lot creepier things that can appear
John getting an ego boost from this game is so funny 😂
22:00 I was thinking the same thing. The WTTG atmosphere would be so perfect in the background of this. Keeps people on edge. Imagine if you had access to see your own office where your character is on the camera and you got to fix anomalies creeping on yourself. That'd be very creepy.
Oh my god please play more of this game, this is genuinely the most I've laughed at a video in a long time
This is the first game I’ve seen that legit gives me chills. I think it’s just the emptiness and isolation of everything coupled with the eerie paintings and the feeling that something is off.
At this point it’s routine to watch anything John puts out. His videos have gotten me through hard times.
There would be so many times where we would see the anomaly at the exact same time 😭😭 that was a great playthrough though!
How to survive this game? Do not be on observation duty.
I'd love to see you play more of this! It was fun to look along with you to try and find the changes!
The menu music sounds like someone is trying to tune an instrument except they don't know what note they're trying to tune to so they're just winging it.
I loved seeing John get more and more into the game, it was super fun to watch. Thanks for playing John, have a great day!
The feeling of dread that I got from that little growing puddle of black pixels!
It physically hurt me when John saw the "Intruder" at the window of the bedroom and ended up putting the correct answer in the wrong location.
I feel like this was a great game for your style of commentary. Very enjoyable video. Thanks, John!
You're awesome John ! People need to see your content. Your commentary is funny, witty, engaging. Love watching your videos!
I feel bad for the waving ghost too :(
Never would I have thought someone would refer to a ghost as laissai faire 💀
wow this was a bizarre experience.
Insym played this! That's probably why so much people wanted it, glad John is now playing it tho!
I have no idea who that is.
