I've been following you for many years now. You always inspired me to garden. Love the videos. It's great to get an updated video after all this time. So yes more master classes. It's summer here in Australia but it's been cool and wet after a few years of drought where I couldn't water my veg. Amazingly some just kept on growing. Months of no rain. The roots I left in the soil. The gardens lush this summer. I grow from seeds which took me a few years to figure out. I also collect my own seeds. I'm currently restocking my seed collection. Thankyou for all the years of information and motivation. Happy 2022. Love you.

I love your enthusiasm! As a somewhat experienced gardener the best part was the filter and ways to accomplish it economically, a filter advantage was something I know but have not acted on, You got me there, thanks. Fully agree, it is the most important step, almost anywhere microbes will come, even more easily than worms, and it is important to create the environment that will foster and not limit them. Most of us gardeners hopefully get who does the real work in a garden. I agreed with everything you said, but am able to process it as a gardener. For example I may disagree with trace minerals importance which is dependent on your location. Something I might suggest as a universality is all the products you showed might overcomplicate (and overprice) things for some, so maybe qualify that all the improvements you do are not needed to be successful and what real differences they make, if you know by degree, separate from theoretical but that is your passion so you must include it. If there is a measured improvement in quality that is most compelling. Gotta get people gardening any way they can, it is a happy thing, but keep spreading important concepts!

In this new year I am going to feed my pecan trees. I have 3 different types. Half of them were bad this year. I now have rabbits so I can spread their manure around the trees too.

John I have been getting great results from something similar 22:46. I use a 2100W pressure washer to macerate cardboard. The pulp can be drained and stored dry for later use, worm beddings, compost, etc. Macerated cardboard can also be applied as a liquid mulch from the watering can. Have been applying a thin layer of liquid mulch over newly placed hay mulch. Very important to get some fresh compost down first, I will often add green manure seeds at this stage too. Works very well here as the thing that kills gardens here is the dry wind.

John, I had grown some cannabis Last year i had an issue with aphids overloaded on one of my plants. I mixed 3 Tbsp of Diatancious earth per gallon of water. The very next day i hade zero aphids. Worked great and i used food grade freshwater Dia.. Happy new Year and blessings from mine to yours... THCank you and CHeers... Martin
Another thing that works great is a mixture of 95% water with 5% unleaded gasoline. It usually kills them within a few weeks
95% water and 5% semen worked for me
@@peezyworld420 i AM SURE I WOULD NEVER PUT gAS in on or near my garden.. Why would you use such a dangerious material. There is tons of very easy ways to get rid of Aphids. In my experience Aphids a one of the easiest pests to eradicate.. However i used the Dia water mix to see if the plant would uptake the silica threw the leaves the test was very succesful to eraticate the little buggers in less than 24 hrs and Zero ill effects of using the mixture.. I am an avid Gardener myself .Last my Green lasted me 7 months. From April to October 2021. I use raised bed , direct , Hugelkultur method and partially Green house with out heating. It did work out even here Snow Country Saratoga , Wyoming. Watching also in most of your project..

John I just read a few different things following up on thistle and they said a recent study showed thistle leaf extract worked on a previously untreatable brain tumor. I was reading that thistle heads use to be eaten like artichokes. I'd love to see a follow up with you on it. natural wild diverse grown thistle is probably better than hydroponic grown thistle on medicinal nutritious level. would love to discuss a few of these things

First thing I do when trying to improve soil is to grow something in it that can add something to the soil - sunflowers for carbon or to break up hard ground and add structure, beans or peas for nitrogen (can be planted together with sunflowers). In my location, in one season I can plant about 2 or 3 sunflower crops - I have hard compacted clay, and they thrive in it - by the end, the ground has been protected against sun, has tons of root matter buried deep allowing air and water to infiltrate deep creating a great space for microbes, the hard ground is broken up and enriched with carbon, and I have a ton of dead plant matter to chop and drop over the top to further break down and protect the soil - plus I have a ton of seeds to carry over.
I have been doing this for years, and it seems to work in my clay soil. Dig a foot down, and throw that clay in line with the trench, then fill the hole with wood chips, and then go to starbucks, and get as many coffee grounds as they will give you, and mix that into those chips. You're basically making a raised bed with good drainage, and by the end of the season, you can't even tell where the wood chips were, because they composted with the coffee grounds, and I find the plants nearest the edges of the wood/coffee are the biggest and tastiest.
Soil master class. 50% coco and/or peat, 25% perlite and or hydroton, 25% high quality earthworm castings, guano, seaweed, volcanic ash. Water with 0 ppm water with ph of 6. Add microbes for explosive growth. What else u guys want?

Worm tea once per week during veg and Banana tea once a week during flowering.

Use the mint as chop and drop or put tops in compost. I freeze mine and feed to my worm bins.
Watched it all. You did indeed touch on everything a beginner would need to know of. Very compact video. What I have been studying for a few months straight in about an hour.
I had a mint plant in a big planter for ten years and this summer was so hot that it killed it. I am heartbroken over it.
If you try again, mint will grow in heat with afternoon shade

John you have blown me away with all the tools you, Josh, and td have put in my toolbox. I love to garden and after seeing some of your canna-videos and non canna-videos I want to change the way I garden completely. We moved and our soil is terrible, but I finally get great sun. I cant wait to start implementing all of your tips. One thing I do want to share with you and something you can show td is the soil we have locally here. It is completely organic. This soil has one type that was created for organic cannabis growers. I find and many find it better than foxfarm soil which I know td said he uses and so did I before coast of Maine came about here. It's called Coast of Maine soil and its their Stonington Blend. Please check it out and share it with them. If i could share any tips with you it's the one thing I could think of especially from our coast to yours. Happy gardening to you and hats off to the way you live everyday. Thank you for sharing it with all of us! Looking forward to watching all your older videos as I am new to your channel!

I am really struggling to amend soil for gardening. I buy all my organic soil. The land has been dense fir trees and blackberries for 100 years. All my plant roots stop the minute they hit the natural dirt here.
I'm a brand new subscriber. This long form content is quite helpful as a beginner as it's hard for me to watch ALL your past stuff :)

35:45 ive been telling everyone ive worked for in lawn and landscaping to compost everything. Leaves in one pile and grass in another. And DO NOT USE LANDSCAPING FABRIC! USE MAGNOLIA LEAVES FOR A WEED BARRIER UNDER THE MULCH AND OVER IT AS WELL.
Hi John. One thing you might consider is that each fungus thrives in a very specific environment based on food source, temperature, PH, Oxygen, etc. Just because someone collected species from a great variety of environments does not translate into utility in any one specific garden. I suggest you look more into mycology to understand better how to target (and collect) fungi for use an any particular set of environmental factors. Also, fungus will quickly overtake weaker species that may be in the mix, as well as native species taking over from whatever is in a spray or drench. People should be careful spending money on high test mixes that will die off within days of application. Same principals apply to bacteria.
On another topic, had you looked into using livestock salt as a trace mineral spray instead of sea salt?
