Inside the Mind of Skate Videographer Joey Sinko

- Joey Sinko is one of skateboarding’s most unique filmmakers. He is the driving force behind our Ode series and more recently has supported Jim Greco on a handful of experimental skate films as his camera man / cinematographer. He draws from skate classics of the early 2000s, but there is also some influence that can be felt from classic films by the likes of Les Blank and Stanley Kubrick, just to name a few.

That Benny from FA filmer underrated asf too
Benny rules! 👊
Big fan of Jacob Harris. The “Atlantic Drift” series is phenomenal. The filming, editing, aesthetics, music, and obviously skateboarding was all put together so well with such a unique and fresh style. Just thought I’d mention a big name in my opinion that wasn’t brought up. Totally on his own level. Great video here from Jenkem as always. Keep up the good work.
agree completely
He made Tom Knox .
Feelin this dudes vibe for sure. Like he could murder someone but it would considered art.
It’s great to actually see and hear Joey on this level. Thanks for this piece.
Heath skated shit back then that people don't even fuck with now.
Seems like a really selfless dude. Really enjoy this series!
Filmers > pros....I always enjoy the interviews with filmers more than the pros.
Sick that filmers are getting some of their just due. Without them you would never see all that has influenced your life! They are half of Skateboarding! Gregson, Bragg, Beagle, and all who film thank you! 📽️🎥 We need another Chomp!
legend in the making
Gotta respect the craftsmanship that goes into producing exellent footage.
What a great dude, would've loved to see more from him, something lengthier...
Now do Peter Sidlauskas
jemken pls
can't forget dan wolfe & chris mulhern their very underrated
Facts. Imho, nobody films lines better than Mulhern.

He’s been in the game to long. All these youngings that’s trying to make it kuddo’s to them

Would love for you guys to delve into the cinematic genius of the legendary filmer Brengar as well
Been using the AF-100 since 2015 and it’s one of the best HD cameras out 🔥
Pure gold🙌🏼

This guy is a total wiseguy… you know? He’s one of us… a Goodfella
That’s the Homie 🤙🏼 Love You Joey
I heart jenkem
0:57 how anyone does anything in those shoes is beyond me, I have a pair and instantly my respect for greco went up and down at the same time lol
Skated the everloving piss out of these…. Seen jobs never and was sooooo stoked…. Never been able to find another shoe quite like it tbh, Defo a weird one to skate tho
Great work.
Is the spot still there?
Great ending
it's insane how much Judson's skating has changed
That’s soo Greco style yo! FA

Dope video. Love this shit. Xx
My man is 100% vibes
dude has a good taste
wonder where they ate at the end... hama??? TOT????
make a episode with colin reed... lov u guys
I love Strobeck, but I will say it's annoying that every other filmer emulates his style. It'd be one thing if his style wasn't so uniquely his. But when I see a young filmer filming all lines/tricks standing still and zooming instead of using fisheye or follow filming... I automatically think, "So this guy likes Strobeck, I guess." I mean, to each their own I guess, but just saying that it's an over-used style, if your last name isn't Strobeck.
Make ya own style, or at least copy a less obvious one. With all of that said, filming like Strobeck is a great way to get better at zooming... but use it sparingly. We already have a Strobeck, we don't want two.
I'll take 1000 Kyle Camarillos or Tyler Smolinksis, all day though. Yall need to copy deez doods, mostly because they're more-diverse in their shot selections.
Do you film also? I always wonder how people know so much about this
@@rangoononline yep, but more importantly I watch a lot of skate videos. Once I started filming more than skating, I would break down what filmers were doing in videos, just to get ideas. But that isn’t the same as finding one guy and copying him, is my point I guess. You can learn a lot from a lot of different filmers. “Shoot All Skaters” is a good place to start, and then you can at least get a good idea of what styles you like.
I have stuff I filmed and edited on my other channel... search “Dirt McGogurt”, instead of “Dirty Dirt McGogurt” if you’re curious.
Ps-shoot all skaters is a berrics thing, search on youtube
@@dirtydirtmcgogurt Thanks for that info. Stoked to check out your work
@@rangoononlineanytime, and I appreciate that! Check out Tyler Smolinski and Kyle Camarillo, too. They are both awesome. And while we're on it... Stobeck is awesome too, don't let my comment take away from that... lol.
@@rangoononline One last thing, his name is Kyle Camarillo. I have a friend named Mike Camarillo, so just mixed the two up in my head.. lol.
I changed all the other comments, from Mike to Kyle... as it should be.
His voice made me think it was Greco's brother or something lol
Skateboarding's Quentin Tarantino
Never knew Quentin Tarantino can skate...........
Skateboarding is sick because of the diversity. One skater can be completely different from another and both be equally amazing. Same goes for filmers, like compare this guy to Beagle. Both awesome in their own unique ways.
Second
Filming the filmer, this is some inception level shit
filmer homie gets filmed
i want more!
fisheye too shakey
I wish I could be a video filmed guy/a skateboarder...
Joey is literally Jim’s film nerd little brother.
I like the “just hanging out” feel of these interviews.
Jobs? Never! was great. Really feel like it slipped under the radar and Joey's filming was awesome. Great piece, Jenkem.
it doesnt have to shine on day one. its a skate movie to be great for decades.
So happy for Joey. He’s a really good dude, and a real genuine one. Definitely an inspiration.
That was very NBA Youngboy of him to slide his clothes on the rack that way. Such an aggressive approach. Admirable in a way I can't quite pinpoint..
4:08 for some skater wisdom
Joeys a very cool dude, Jenkem nails it again.
More of this legend please.
Really great info. This guy is chill and reminds me of Jeff Tweedy. Cool to know that skate filmers are influenced by Kubrick.
Dude from Wilco lol that’s funny asf
This is great
