- Theo Hand is one of those skate documentarians who may not have the same level of name recognition as people like J. Grant Brittian or Atiba Jefferson, but has shaped how skateboarding looks in the modern age, documenting names like Chad Muska, Tom Penny, and Ali Boulala, all in their prime.

We need a photo book by this guy
That would be sick, really love one from Daniel Harold Sturt
no we dont
My only complaint about this, is that it isn't longer. Great job, Jenkem.
Ehh you get what you get, the only reason it isn't longer is because as good as this guy is at snapping photos he just isn't that interesting to talk to.
I could watch 2 hours of this
Tom Penny jump was insane! 😂
“If you can create a spontaneous, in the moment situation and make it look like a studio or planned shot, that to me is kind of like, the pinnacle of, you know, what I like” - Theo Hand
What a beautiful quote, exactly how I feel about skateboarding and what makes it such a beautiful art to me
pretty gay
Not really
@@Stunnas89 it's ok he/him, gay is tolerable in most blue cess cities these days
@@tyrone-dh6iy are u ever not thinking about gay people? sounds pretty gay to me
As someone who's trying to get into skate photography, I'd love to see more stuff like this so keep it up
this dude is rad, love stuff like this
So cool to see other photographers that got their start with the old Pentax cameras. Glen Friedman as well. I still use my Spotmatic every now and then. Still takes great shots.
spotmatic and 20mm lens = lots of fun
@@meatcamera I still have the 17mm fisheye I picked up at the Earl Warren Fairgrounds photo swap meet in 93 for $150 (A lot of money for me back then). Amazing lens for both skate and hardcore band photography. :)
That invisible shuv it clip is insane to this day
I'm always on the hunt for skate photographers and their work
Thank you jenkem
Here for Penny of course.
I met him at noho skatepark years back super cool guy we smoked weed and talked about life I didn’t know who he was and he never brought up how much of a legend he is. I love you Theo.
Shout Out to Theo and all the other photographers for documenting this era. This was A special time in skating.

Don't hate the players hate the game... my man theo hand.. I 🫡 sir...
I’ve never seen the raw footage of Tom making that leap between the rocks. Holy shit, the sound it makes when he catches himself on the opposite side is fucking hilarious.
Sounded like he broke the entire lower half of his body
This gives me chills
Lol why
@@Hevel378 This time area was the first time when I was 12 and stepped foot on a skateboard. The flip sorry video is the first real skate film I saw to that level being filmed to that level. Which inspired everything I do 20 years to this day.. Signal flow.. coding, video. Seeing the final background this long after of questions you always had as a kid is truly inspiring. So that's 'why'.
Thanks for the thoughtful reply
Dude right ?!those dogs are so chill
Excellent piece, guys.
Here I've been pronouncing it like Theo Huxtable for 30 years.
This was gold. I met Theo a couple of times a few years back and he was the nicest person ever.
homie looks just like Brian Anderson
omg ! Jenkem thank you guys, more Theo pls! !
Brings back some great memories from Bordeaux and U.K. trips with Ali! Your last quote nails it on the end. It’s because you like it.
Didn't Penny explain that he actually hurt his ankle by jumping from the rocks?
Yep
Dude has such a good eye and style of shooting it's unreal
cool to see the invisible shuv from the other angle
sketchy 🤣🤣
I miss parts of the 90s.
always thought it was “the ‘o’ hand”
Theo's the man, my roommates and I used to smoke spliffs with him when we lived around the corner from him in LA. He's got some awesome stories!
