Hey Rudy, congratulations for your first Kona finish! If you look at Lionel, Patrick, Florian, Cam and so on it's getting obvious that even seemingly tiny things can throw you out of a good position because the level is so incredible high nowadays. 10 minutes in Kona was nothing a few years ago, now it quickly costs 10 positions (Pos 5 to 15 were in 10minutes reach, I don't think this was ever so close before) Imagine what you can do there on a good day with a bit more solid training (no stomach issue) - you were top 12 when you popped, so top 10 was basically in reach. And this with your first try. That's a great perspective and I wish you all the best for St George / Cozumel or wherever you want to race. Next year you are in the top 10 👍 Stay positive 😃

Perhaps drinking wrong Look at Indian Ayuvedic way-don’t constantly sip water. Drink a good amount. Stop drinking. Drink again. Sipping constantly they say means body never rests from drinking. A few gurus criticize and make fun of Americans who carry water bottle around w them all day long sipping all day.
Great post race summary. I just started watching triathlon vids of late for motivation on weight loss journey(if they push that hard, I can try to push). I enjoy so much I had to sub to a sport channel for I can watch the St George race this wkend, hope ur racing
Great job Rudy. I was racing alongside your dad 30 years ago on the french riviera (though not as fast!). Your Energy Lab experience, well... I got the same twice! The heat, hydration, food, whatever it is, I went twice and twice it was lights out and walk to the end! Running in an oven is no joke!

The one I have is a random one from online (Nike- Salomon- Camelback etc have some) but Compressport has some good options with running hydration and soft flasks
Yup, Hawaii is the worst place for road cyclists! Maui and Kona are very dangerous, not even mention DUIs, text and driving and haters! BE AWARED the Alohas spirit is GONE!!!!!
