    The fixed suspension is perfectly fine around town. I have it in the UK on my S3 and test drove an RS3 with fixed suspension too. Mag Ride suspension is firmer except in comfort mode. The thing with the shift gauge colours on the virtual cockpit are because you're in full manual mode, when you're in auto and you press the paddle, it goes into temporary manual mode and will go back to auto if you stop using the paddles. You can get electric seats but for some reason they're only in the regular sport seats.

    Great review dude 👍
    Funny thing is I just got my 2018 RS3 with full options last Friday and I'm still watching reviews coz I can't believe I actually own one now 😂, after wanting any audi from the age of 10 years old watching the old group B rally cars destroy the competition 👌👍✌️

    Hey Mike! What a cool video bro! I am a 270lb 6’ dude and am totally comfortable in my RS3! Actually I think my friends that are smaller actually feel less bolstered. Love the manual seats. Great review! I totally agree with everything and loved seeing your emotions when it comes to laying down the power! I’ve tracked my car and it is BEAST! It is the Jack of all Trades. Speed demon: very few cars are quicker. Snow Monster, Quattro + Michelin Alpin = unstoppable!!! And Family Sedan: I can STILL take my wife and kids to Costco and fill the trunk. (And still get 27mpg!). Nice review.

      This comment makes me smile! I’m really happy you enjoyed watching it. It took a while to put all the content together and it’s hard to know if I should talk about specs so I try and touch on everything a little.
      The thing is just a great car, and my next video is delivering the vehicle to one of my TH-cam subs.
      Thanks for watching, and please sub! It would mean a lot!

    • @architecturehappy
      @architecturehappy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s too funny, these are the two cars I’m cross-shopping right now, I guess actually test driving both will help, but before I do that, do you find the RS3 comfortable in the back? We go on road trips anywhere in the 4-5 hour range and it would need to hold at least 4 with gear. I’d probably grab a rocket box. Would love to hear your thoughts since you already did both!

    • @nfavor
      @nfavor 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@architecturehappy S4 is a larger car. I had MANY people comment about legroom in the front and people were happy in the back. RS3 is much smaller. Also, if you're tall or have tall people, the RS3 could be problematic. I'm 6'0" and even with the seat all the way down, I come close to hitting the ceiling. Please drive both. They are very different cars. The S4 was incredibly beautiful but far too lethargic for me. The RS3 is more basic on the inside but much more of a drivers car. Also RS3 can be tuned up to 1200HP. There's much less tuning/mods available for the S4

    • @architecturehappy
      @architecturehappy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      nfavor That’s very helpful, thank you! Looking forward to driving both, I want the RS3 to fit my needs, because I know I’ll be addicted to the power and dynamics, but don’t want to be kicking myself when I need a bigger car for getaway trips.

    • @nfavor
      @nfavor 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@architecturehappy Is the RS4 too much? It was for me and the S4 left a bad impression, to be honest. I don't know that you're coming from but I had a stage 2.5 GTI (IS38) before the S4. The S4 always felt noticeably slower than the GTI. BTW, if you end up geoing wwith the S4, I'd be glad to let you have my COBB box for it cheap. Even on E85, with the COBB, it still wasn't enough.

    • @nfavor
      @nfavor 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@architecturehappy The S4 always felt like a car I could drive all day and never feel tired. It would be an amazing touring car, it's just that it never felt fast enough. I owned a stage 2.5 GTI before that and the S4 instantly felt slower. When someone pulled out in front of me and I had $19k damage, it was a fortunate way to sell the car. The RS3 is an absolutely amazing car in every way. The S4 was never the right fit for me and after owning the S4, I came to realize that I like smaller cars. Please let me know which way you go and what your impressions are!

    ...
    Mustang convertible
    A4 S line
    A5 convertible
    And now A3 convertible
    Believe it or not, my favorite so far has been the A3. Indeed, there’s something to the power/weight ratio in this car that just works amazingly well. Also, Audi has been refining their gear-shifting modes over the years, and my A3 2018 just gets it perfect.

    I absolutely love the video quality and you did mention a lot of informations about the suspension that most of the reviewers never talk about which i did like. I have a 2018 M4 I just got it for 5 months and I'm planning to change it with an RS3 very soon. The weather in Montreal isn't ideal for rwd + the m4 suspension has no mercy lol. The rs5 2018 is more comfortable than the rs3 tho, but the price isn't worth it. One thing I can tell you, if you get the REVO Stage 1 for 1150$ it will boost the rs3 to 480hp and it does 0-100 in 3.4 sec. Anyway thank you for the informations 😃👍

    Great car! I’ve had mine for 6 months and still think it’s one of the best cars available. (Especially for the money). Can’t really find a fault with it. Very fast! I like it better than my father in laws 2018 RS5. This car does it all.
    I did a Lamborghini track day a few months ago and the instructor was jealous of my RS3 (as we were doing hot laps in a much more
    Expensive car). I think the RS3 felt quicker than a 2012 Gallardo. Thank you for the video.

    The difference between when you click the paddles and it says M and when you moved the shifter over to M:
    Temporary M Mode: clicking the paddles temporarily puts it into manual mode and will stick to the gear you put it in, however, if you rev all the way to the red line it will automatically shift for you and go back to automatic mode. if you don't click the paddles for a number of seconds it will also automatically default back to auto mode and choose the gears on its own.
    Manual Mode: when you move the shifter over to M the transmission will not shift for you, if you hit red line it will keep you in the gear you left it in but will cut off throttle so you don't go past red line. However, if you leave it in too high of a gear when slowing down, causing the RPMs to fall below 1k, it will downshift for you to prevent you from stalling the car

    • @ACCELER8TV
      @ACCELER8TV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      100%
      Also in temporary manual you don’t get the multicoloured build up colours are you pass 5,000 rpms.. like you do when you are in full manual mode!

    I know a lot of people who owned the 8V RS3 for a short while then sold it. Some went to get the S3 instead. I believe the main problem is that there's not much power in the low end, making daily driving on the street a real disappointment.

      Hey Mikes! I have an RS3 as well. It’s a great car. I’ve had it for six months, and there’s a couple things I’d love to know if you’ve experienced.....
      1. In stop and go traffic, I see my oil temp climb over 215 degrees F. I get a system malfunction error and the rpm is limited to 4000. I’ve sent pics of the dash error and my dealer can’t figure it out. The car doesn’t store the error message either which makes it more difficult to deal with.
      2. Winter tires for the front wheels. I ended up going to tire rack to order.

    Drove the RS3 at an Audi event in Toronto last summer, unfortunately it was too short and had a terrible route. The fancy dash does nothing for me, the engine sounds fantastic but I wasn't super impressed with the impression of speed from it. I have the basic A3 1.8T which I bought in 2015 so my daughter could learn to drive on an automatic but I could also have a decently nice car with a design (especially interior) that I liked. First automatic ever in 30 years of buying cars. On the RS3 drive I was thinking that, other than the sound, this car would be basically identical to my base model 98% of the time. Honestly, after my short drive I got back in my other car, 2006 B7 Avant 6MT that I've had since new, and was just like, wow, so much much better to just drive a stick in this tired old car than drive the gee gaws version. And mine at least has memory seats. Despite all the comments on here, some of us are married, and the biggest pain with the A3 is manually fixing the seats all the damn time.
    Anyway, all the commenters will now tell me about the tenths of a second faster the DSG makes the car and how nobody drives manual anymore, or how they would drive manual but they have to drive in traffic sometimes and it hurts their widdle leggies, but I would never spend money on a sports/performance car with an automatic. Currently trying to ditch the A3 and make the daughter drive a stick if she can't get her own car, and toying with getting one of either a 2019 Mx-5, M240i Coupe, or maybe a Golf R. They all come in manual, the first is that convertible with great handling but less power and utility, the second has great power and RWD, and the Golf R has decent power but I can still make it up the cottage hill in the winter if I want to 4 season the next car. I'd do a Boxster to balance the power and fun aspect but would have to go back a few years to get the price and the 6 banger. No Audi can make the list as there's nothing left with a stick - I hadn't even realized how long they screwed over their 'sports' cars to just being autos.

    We were returning home from Banff to southern Ontario. The speed limit changed from 110 to 100 km/h as we entered Ontario. So I changed my cruise down to 120 km/h and I came across an OPP car. I was pulled over. The Cop said do you know why I pulled you over which I replied no. He said you're from plate is ajar. I got out to look at the plate and told him some asshole in Banff did it. I didn't remove the plate as I didn't want a fine for that. He finished and said what a nice car you have. I thanked him and carried on my way to southern Ontario. I wish all Cops were that nice.

    How does it compare to the RS7? I know they’re very different but I’m considering a higher mileage RS7 since it pretty much is more prestigious, roomier, and more powerful.

    • @MODIT
      @MODIT 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      had both, kept the RS7. Not that the rs3 isn't a great car, do miss it time to time. The brakes where one of the main issues for me, at the time they didn't have upgrades (but don't think one should need to upgrade) but they do now. Its mostly fwd, not to fun for drifting or want a scare. If it had a torsen diff it would be sick!

    Very good informative review, you have good knowledge of the car's options etc which is more helpful, but a few more scenes of the performance of the car would be better, like clips of it doing a 30 - 70mph, or foot down at 50mph, so we get a better idea of how quick it actually is. Thanks.

    @6:30 I'm one foot taller than you, and I also fit very well in the RS3 ; )
    I had the option to chose between manual or auto adjusted seats, but I got the manual ones, since it saves both money and weight.
    And it's not that hard to manually adjust them once in a while.
    I would also have gone for the magnetic dampers instead of unlocking 280 kph if I had to chose. But I didn't, so I got both : )

    Hey great video! I had a question regarding the magnetic ride suspension vs the fixed suspension that comes with the dynamic plus package. Have you experienced both in an rs3?
    I’m trying to get a sense of the fixed suspension vs the dynamic setting in magnetic ride. Much like you, I feel as though I would like to have the option for a softer ride in comfort mode at times, but I do have a significant interest in getting the dynamic plus package so that I get all of the performance (top speed & ceramic brakes)

    • @JustinAPTD
      @JustinAPTD 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joel Malagon ceramic brakes aren’t a very good option if it’s a daily and you’re not taking it to a track frequently. I went with mag ride because I do a lot of city driving and that means a lot of shitty roads, there’s a very noticeable difference between comfort suspension and dynamic, hitting bumps in dynamic is a terrible thing, so I’m very happy to have the option to have the suspension tight or not

    How does the driving experience compare in an RS3 to an S5 coupe? In terms of sound, throttle response, and overall driving enjoyment? I am looking to test drive both soon but I would much prefer a coupe over a Saloon, mostly because of looks and weight etc. Although I would prefer an Audi I feel the c43 amg is a better choice overall, but would love to hear peoples thoughts. Nice review. I really like the drone shots from above. I have a drone and I know how difficult is to get those shots right, and it's just a few seconds of footage so that's why most car reviewers don't bother. I have the 2018 S3 Sportback. I could have bought the RS3 but thought the S3 provides me with all I need in a day to day practical car. RS3 would make me neglect my 911. The basic differences between the two and the price difference really didn't warrant me getting the RS. I get enough fun out of the S with it's fully specced package (standard sports seats tho) and slick S-tronic box. My next 'practical' upgrade would be the S4. I would only ever chose Audi cars.
