    When assembling the grinder be vary careful when tightening the collar. Be sure the auger spins freely. I tighten the collar to tight and the auger didn't want to turn and I ended up having to replace a couple of gears.

    The KitchenAid should up their game and make 100% stainless steel if the company still want to be leader. The company sold a lot of mixer due to Covid The main housing is not 100% aluminum. If you remove the auger and look direct into it, there is plastic. All the pars relate to sausages are plastic also. I am still looking 100% stainless meat grinder. It is hard because the company state all metal, but turn out some aluminum and plastic which isn't safe in the dish washer.

    The KitchenAid meat grinder cannot go in reverse unlike most stand-alone meat grinders. Reverse comes in handy if you're grinding meat for dog or cat food. Skin, sinew, cartilage, and bone can jam up a meat grinder and reversing the meat grinder is the easiest way to clear a jam.

    Time and again I hear and read about chilling the all the metal parts of the grinder attachment to minimize friction that could cause warmth to develop. Another thing is to ensure those same metal parts are thoroughly washed in hot soapy water, then placed in a low oven until completely dry.

    I've got a KitchenAid stand mixer and have not bought the meat grinder set for it. I did, however, by the Cabela's small meat grinder for grinding my burgers and it does a fantastic job. So, while I do have the KitchenAid stand mixer that can do this as well, I may never really need to buy this extra accessory for meat; I'll just keep it for cake and bread mixing. One of the reasons why I do not use my KitchenAid mixer that much is the weight. Mine is the larger mixer with the bowl riser. However, my Cabela's meat grinder is lightweight, easy and super quick to set up, and cleaning is just as easy and quick. I take it out of the box and ready to grind in minutes. And once done, I was it well, dry all the parts, and put it back into the box within minutes too... easy-peasy.

    • @EverythingKitchens
      @EverythingKitchens  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey florenceugboko, here are a few things you can try:
      - put your cubed meat into the freezer for around 30-45 minutes to were the meat is partially frozen on the outside (but not fully frozen).
      - put the meat grinder itself into the freezer for 30 minutes to get it cold as well.
      - some meats are naturally more mushy like high-fat content cuts of beef and poultry. Having theses kinds of meat semi-frozen will help them come out smoothly.
      -work quickly - the ginder will start to heat up as it is working and your meat will start to come to room
      temperature quickly as well making for mushy meat coming from the grinder.
      - if you are having issues with grinding through a second time, put the 1st pass of grind on a piece of parchment paper on a tray into the freezer for 20 minutes to cool it back down, swap out the grinder blades, then grind for the second pass.
      I hope these tips can help you! Please let us know if you're still running into issues and visit us at everythingkitchens.com for our customer support team :) -Chef Austin

    I got one of these a couple weeks ago - did watch this video first - and I'm happy with it. I only grind a little meat for my wife and I, to make beef and pork meatloaf, a little sausage, hamburger, etc. It's fairly simple. If you use one, just be aware if there's any leakage of fluids back through the seal into the body of the mixer - that could be real bad in terms of just getting nasty. This should not occur with a mixer and grinder in good condition, but do watch for it. Grinding your own meat is worthwhile if you do a bunch at once and freeze it. It would be an awful lots of work, just the clean up, if you used it for small batches. [edit: as I mentioned in a reply, now that I have used this several times, it's not that much work cleaning it up, even small batches are worth while.]

      @xray7908 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@davebrown6598 Hi Dave, thanks for asking, but mine works great. I have a KitchenAid branded grinder, and the seal on mine has never leaked. I was just warning others that I've heard of this being a problem for others, so it is good to be careful and check this before putting it away. It only takes a moment to check it as you take it apart from the mixer. I just made some chili this week with some chuck roast that I freshly ground very coarsely and some pork I ground a couple months ago and froze. It made a chunkier chili than usual, very nice. Now that I have used it a few times, I don't even consider it that much work to clean it up, so I'll also update this to say it's worth using even if you are doing smaller batches.

    This is a #22 size grinder! Put a stick of butter down it first,and it will work wonderfully!! An 8qt mixer is NSF approved and it is a DC powered motor, unlike the others in this line of mixers!!
    Its got power,and lots of it too!! Stuffing tubes could have been clear plastic. The grinding plates are about $25 each, #22.
    Its the smallest,#12,22,32,
    42,52,and 55. '#32 is a heavy duty size!

    • @EverythingKitchens
      @EverythingKitchens  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nancy Heaps - yes! This meat grinder can be tossed in the freezer for 20 minutes and that will help the grinding process as well - the cold metal helps to prevent fat in the meat from melting and gumming up. We were doing a smaller batch, so just partially freezing our meat worked just fine without freezing the actual grinder too.

    I can't believe no company can actually build a decent mixer with attachments for the price they charge. SO many negative reviews and disappointing feedback is left - how it could be made with stainless steel how the professional one does not lift up or come with the plastic cover to stop flour etc blowing out the bowl...now i have heard that the coating inside all their bowls except for the glass ones.....the metal coating comes off in the dough/batter mixture and turns the colour of your mixture a tint of silver/grey. This is a big turn off for me. And i don't mind spending the money but daaamn...all the competitive brands are not up to par. Why?

    • @EverythingKitchens
      @EverythingKitchens  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey TheTruth, that silver/grey that people see in their mix is typically mechanical polish from the factory and is common - we've made a video detailing how to properly clean and remove the polish before use: th-cam.com/video/IOS2nWP8Oxg/w-d-xo.html . KitchenAid does have multiple tilt-head and bowl-lift mixers - some packages coming with a pouring shield, some coming without one. If you're looking for an alternative comparable mixer to KitchenAid check out Bosch: th-cam.com/video/TfFW7ui1M6M/w-d-xo.html and/or Kenwood: th-cam.com/video/dqxcF_Dk758/w-d-xo.html - Hope this helps! 👨‍🍳

Is it true that juices of the meat sip into the mixer machine itself?😢 I saw some TH-cam VI was telling about that and it was disgusting and I'm thinking why would kitchenaid make a grinder that would allow blood or meat juices to seep into the machine😭 Please can you answer my question

    I own one too. It works, but it has shortcomings.
    1) The feed hopper is awkwardly shallow, and needs to be deeper.
    2) The grinder tends to occasionally spit - I prevent that by using a rubber band to affix a plastic ziploc sandwich bag to dangle down across the grinder's exit plate.

    I find a safety issues with this grinder
    I feel the mixer should be *deactivated when the grinder is attached to the mixer*
    Clothing could get tangled or if you place a bowl under the grinder it will knock your bowl, our hand can be injured.
    The list of safety issues is a huge issue.
    Kitchenaid/Whirlpool should consider a way to *deactivate this mixer when the grinder is attached.*

    For the sausage, do you need to grind it twice?

    • @ronc4146
      @ronc4146 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is recommended to grind sausage twice, using the smaller hole pattern plate. Most sausage has a denser, finer, more consistent texture than ground burger meat (where you want some gaps to hold moisture, fat, juices, etc).

    I just bought one. Some reviewers didn't do their demos fairly and made it look bad, but they were just not fit for the kitchen. I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT THE PLASTIC ONE, BUT THE METAL ONE IS KICK BUTT. Now I have the meat grinder, pasta roller 3 pc set, the Gourmet Pasta Press, and the juicer. Gonna get the rest of the tools and some vinyl cling real pretty decals I saw on Etsy, and a dust cover for my mixer. Right now I just put a shower cap over the 5 quart bowl to keep dust out. I'm gonna make a whole wooden cabinet for all my kitchenAid extras pretty soon. First, though, I gotta order the rest of the attachments so I can tell how to design the custom cabinet. I may put it on wheels and sit the mixer on top. It's too tall for the countertop anyway, so I keep it on the table. Thanks for making a fair demonstration. I haven't gotten to try mine, yet. I'm a busy old girl trying to create something legendary to pass down to my oldest child. You made me feel a lot more secure in my purchase.
