OMG! Absolutely brilliant! Just tried this with my irons, 4H, 3W and Driver exactly as you showed it. This past year I have been taking lessons with GOLFTEC with 3 different instructors. Not one has shown me this drill. Like you, they all kept saying, “You have to swing the club around your body. Again, not one truly can tell or show me how. Can’t wait to try this at my next round. Thank you so much. Keep doing what you do… Being Awesome ❤
You are very articulate, i saw this drill a few years ago on youtube a pro was having driving problems, he said he come s back to this drill, but he used a t-ball stand like kids use for baseball, to get the ball waist high. Thanks Iona.
I want to thank you for this drill, I went out this morning and executed this drill. I’m in my mid sixties now, I believe I gained 15 to 20 yards after doing this. Thank you Iona !!!
Thanks Iona will give this ago. Professional men's golf is so hard to emulate as an amateur, so quick and aggressive, love the calmness of women's golf. You make it seem so effortless.
Iona thanks!! I have to say, I was a bit sceptical about this as I thought you hit it straight etc anyway, but wow!! I tried it on the range today and (as you said) with my feet together I was amazed at how straight and far the ball actually went. I decided to use it as a quick pre-shot routine for feel and my driving was so much better on the course today. Thank you and please try it everyone 😊😊
Just seen this video, what a simple but effective way of describing how to swing around the body. Us golfers get so depressed when we’re not hitting it well but this drill is so effective at restoring confidence.
Thank you Thank you AND Thank you. I have been snaphooking my drives/long irons for more than a year now. Not all the time - just often enough to become unsure about EVERYTHING. Know what I'm supposed to do - COULDN'T get my body to do it at my will. When I saw your video yesterday something clicked in my head. I had a feeling, this would work for me. Tried it out this morning on som epractice and 9 holes. NOT ONE SNAP HOOK. And the easiest 9 holes I have played for a LOOONG time. Right now I'm a 12 handicapper - I used to be 6-7 - until this Snap thing came into my swing. I can see how using this drill can take me back into single figures and make golf MUCH more relaxed and fun again- THANKS 🤩
Thank you for this drill Iona. I play off 5 but struggled badly for last 6 weeks. Stumbled on this video. Tried it today then went for 9 holes..... I feel cured. Now just need to remember how to putt! 😂
I have been doing the feet together drill for 40 years. Its my number one drill. I would hit 80 balls with my feet together with various clubs, then the last 20 with my normal stance. Its great for tempo, eliminating over the top move and better on face contact. Thanks for sharing Iona.
You're absolutely brilliant ... i say this as a scratch golfer simply enjoying the way YOU enjoy and love the game ... the passion within you is infectious to the bone ... keep it up... I'm sharing this to my Golf-Page for most Icelandic golfers to enjoy ;) ;)
I was struggling on my front nine today, then this drill occurred to me. I started doing it before all my long shots, and I struck the ball with a normal position, but still with that imagination of this close stance in my mind. The result was phenomenal, played the best back nine in a loooong, long time. No fat shots, longer drives straighter iron shots. There are a lot of one-and-only-type of video titles on TH-cam but this one did not disappoint me. Thank you so much, Iona!
Perfect timing as I found something similar myself last week at the range. I realized I was diving at the ball, and focusing on swinging the club with my arms made a huge difference. I played the best I have in ages after working on this.
Great structures you bring to practice. Beats mindlessly pummelling balls with no clear intent. I also love the positivity and kindness that you bring. The best golf and life videos out there. You're a truly good soul Iona. Thank you and keep them coming. 👍👍👍👌👌👌
Thanks for re-enforcing the importance of this drill. The first time I saw this was through YT; Danny Maude a few months ago. I shared it with a friend and now he takes a practice swing with his feet together before every shot. Thinking I might follow his lead.
Thanks again for remembering to Keep it Simple, Iona! I usually match that drill with a rear foot back drill to keep myself from swaying - my biggest challenge since coming back to golf 2 years ago. Looking forward to what you have to offer next!
Hi Iona I am just back from the driving range I used this drill and then hit some full shots I hit the center of the club face much more regularly after the drill. Thank you very much for sharing.
Thank you, makes complete sense to my crazy brain, I'm like you stated , focused on the ball ,so my swing can get steep, over the top trying to smash the ball, the worst thought for a club golfer. I'll definitely use this drill with when on the range. 9:39
Great drill which I was taught over 30 years ago when I first started my golf journey. Played 8 holes earlier using the drill as my practice swing on each hole. What a difference! Better swing plane and more distance. Love your videos. Thank you!
Really good tips. I am struggling with turning through the ball fully and feeeling that around finish. This is helpful.. its helps me get the feel of it..
Iona, that is a drill that helped me to get back on the course and at least play 4 weeks post knee replacement 2 years ago. I can attest that it went further by helping my entire game as I gained the ability to take a more full swing as my rehab continued. Great drill!
Oh Iona thank you thank you thank you I did this & what a difference it has made in so many ways I am now currently doing 2 swings with feet together as part of my pre shot routine wow
Trued this on the range, and started to enjoy ball striking again. May lose some distance but on average confident that game will be so much more consistent and stress free. Thank you Iona.
I can totally feel when I bring it straight back and then I know it will fade-slice. I totally hate it. But because I'm 73, it is so much more difficult to turn fully around like I used to. It seems so effortless watching you practice that. I will try tomorrow. Thank you young lady!
Great drill and valuable comments on life. A wonderful sample of what the channel offers on the whole. Thanks as always and looking forward to the next one.
Tried this yesterday and I can honestly say i have never hit the ball off the tee better. I love the fact that it’s such a simple concept - it doesn’t fill your head with a 1000 swing thoughts. Thanks Iona.
WOW! Absolutely the best explanation of how your body works when creating a proper swing. Can’t wait to get to the driving range and use this drill. Thank you again Iona for your insights.
Great tip Iona and can’t wait to try it, I’m always fighting swaying off the ball and have been using the pulling/ starting the lawnmower feel but your drill will be a nice addition!!😊
Thanks for the great video! If I had been your coach, you would have learned this from a young age. It's one of my favorite go-to drills because it synchronizes the arms and body. Losing balance indicates your body was too active, while a low, snappy shot suggests overuse of the hands and arms. I've recommended this drill to all my students over the years. It was a favorite of the great John Jacobs, who has a great story about Hale Irwin practicing this drill exclusively for a week at his Arizona facility and then going on a winning streak.
Oh my gosh! Love this video! What a beautiful driving range! I've hit balls like this with my feet together at the range for years- before I saw any instruction video. It WORKS! Friends are amazed how far (and straight) you can hit it this way! Sometimes I lay a towel down and hit balls like this from my knees! It really helps you flatten out your swing. Thanks for a great video, and BTW, I love your accent! ⛳😎
Morning Great video again. I've just gone back to the same drill and have rediscovered my swing and rhythm. Regards Mike West Bradford Golf Club, Yorkshire
OMG Iona thanks for sharing this...tried it yesterday and was able to move my ball launch from 4 degrees left to 2 degrees right and I have better balance...thanks again!
This is a great tip. I struggle big time with coming in steep on the ball. I just about get away with it with the iron swing but driver is so hit and miss. I have only just, after nearly a year of lessons, figured out for myself that feeling of the club going around the body. This drill will make a big difference to emphasise that. Thanks Iona. Loving the content as always!
Genius...... looks so simple and easy to do I'm going to give it a go. I've always struggled to rotate keeping the legs and hips in the under control which makes me cast the club. Regular lessons have helped me get to playing off 14, and my coach always keeps things simple as he knows I struggle to action anything too complicated or technical, this looks brilliant. Thanks again for the constant great content.
i think the reason for much of the confusion i sometimes have about how to get the club working around is these “stack and tilt” ideas, as it pretends it’s simpler than it actually is and (to me, anyway) gives me the idea that the club just follows a straight line from the top to the ball, when really it needs to work in an arc
I love the simplicity of your instructional videos. Very focused, very calm and leave a lot for people to put their own swing in. Definitely going to use this one. Thank you.
Keep the instruction/tips videos coming Iona. This my go-to drill when I start to come over the top (was recommended to me by an ex pro friend of mine), does make a great difference.
Thank you, thank you for this drill. I struggle so much trying to make a consistent back swing. This drill immediately fixed my back swing. Most importantly IMHO, this drill automatically sets the wrist hinge without you having to think about it (think soft hands). It aligns the butt of the club directly at the ball/target line. If you choke up on the driver grip and stop after your wrists set, you can see the exposed portion of the grip points to the target line. Maybe you could expound on that benefit in another video. Thanks again. I subscribed to your channel. 😊
Brilliant Iona! I myself have been doing the feet together drill with driver for a couple weeks now. My lower body just wants to fire so fast, it really calms it down. It’s amazing the club head speed you can create with your feet together and some good intent. My current personal best with feet together is 109.
Glad I 'dropped by' to see this drill you were Raving about, then to my surprise finding it is, as you said, a longtime classic drill. I hadn't done in a long time and one my mother, an excellent club champion in her time, told me about, but I forgot about it. Even yesterday when overly tired in the heat, I could feel lapsing g I to that and had to stop to remember how to turn.. lol. This helped hugely. Thank you!! Robin
I cannot wait to do this drill A LOT. Starting tomorrow morning ! Thank you thank you thank you Following up! I really had a great experience doing this and plan to make many more visits to the range to do this drill!
Thank you so much for this drill! My swing has just felt so off lately and because of that my mind has been filled with a million swing thoughts. This drill helped simplify everything to focus on the few things that matter and let my body figure out the rest. Thanks again Iona!
Thanks for this!!! Once a teacher changed my natural swing for a more vertical one and I only had problems since there...I´ll try with your method . (By the way, I´ve been lucky to be at Bled twice, great place!. I´m from Argentina but my father was born in Ljubljana)
Excellent vid. By the way, Pete Cowen also loves this drill. He says most amateurs would play better if they played a full round with their feet together simply for the consistent contact benefits.
Hey thanks Iona, I have been performing that drill for years. One of my first lessons, I wanted to learn how to play a draw and that’s exactly what he had me learning. Every now and then I go back to that for a check up
As a chronic slicer of the ball I can vouch for using this exercise to maintain balance and get your hands working properly in the swing, I went from slice to soft draw in the space of one lesson from our club pro.
Today I tried this in my warm up on the range before playing 18 holes. Really helped me feel the swing and give me confidence. Thanks Iona from the Pacific Northwest 🌲 🏔️ 🌊 ⛅️ in the States 🇺🇸!
I was looking for a good drill for this just a couple of days ago, without really finding what I was looking for. Perfect timing of this upload and I really look forward to trying it:) Played since I was old enough to carry a club, now at hcp 8, but I have always struggled with a too steep swing, resulting in outside/in path, slices and ocassional pull hooks. So far only compensated by a bananas strong grip which causes new problems with closed club faces.
Great advice Iona. Funnily enough this is exactly what I've been working on the last few weeks. I went down the ground force rabbit hole and lost hitting the ball with my arms. Cheers
Thank you for sharing this drill Iona. You always explain things in such a clear way and I appreciate the different camera angles. Keep up the good work.
For me, this is exactly what I need. You talk about not knowing how it should feel when a ball is at your feet instead of the air. I am so frustrated now. I've been a 23 HCP for 2 years and can not get better. I can not wait to try this.
Really nice drill Iona I’m off to the range tomorrow to dial in on my distances either all clubs throughout the bag will warm up first by trying your drill keep the content coming x
Such a big thank you for this!!!🎉 And much love all the way from South Africa!!❤☺️ I've been playing now since March this year and I've found that I'm pretty good at this and the bug obviously bit me straight away!😂 So from a super amateur point of view and the heading of this video hahahahaha!!😂😂 This is perfect because having the driver in my hand I always feel like it needs to hit hard and straight and it never did!!😮 This drill will definately bring me back to stage one fundamentals like that feel you were explaining!🥇👌 My handicap is now at 21.8 and I feel this drill will help so much with bringing it down... like.. a lot!!😅 Thank you for this!!!!!🤜🤛🔥🔥🔥

Missed the deal! Bought 2 sets the day they dropped again. As I damaged my first set. Grateful to have been able to order a fresh replacement :)
@@66stangRhthanks for ordering and we hope you love them!! ❤
@ontheroadwithiona I most certainly love them! So grateful I could replace the ones I damaged! They came very quickly, too!
You should do more drill videos, Iona, because everything you do and say makes complete sense and is so simple love it
Seconded
OMG! Absolutely brilliant! Just tried this with my irons, 4H, 3W and Driver exactly as you showed it.

Misty mountains, beautiful setting, birds tweeting, solid common sense being talked and demonstrated. This is an absolute delight.
A great drill Iona. Your videos are so simple and clear and absolutely no superfluous chatter or nonsense! Well done.
Brilliant video - SWING the weight of the club. 👍
Thanks Iona will give this ago. Professional men's golf is so hard to emulate as an amateur, so quick and aggressive, love the calmness of women's golf. You make it seem so effortless.
Women's golf is a lot more relatable for average golfers for sure
Iona thanks!! I have to say, I was a bit sceptical about this as I thought you hit it straight etc anyway, but wow!! Another great drill. Thank you Iona
John Jacobs used to recommend this back in the seventies as the best drill to develop a free arm swing. It really works.

am amazed it how well this works…. so much so that I have brought to real course play and use it when the key is to get the ball IN…. great
I discovered this drill a few years ago and always warm up with it, it really works!
Thank you, makes complete sense to my crazy brain, I'm like you stated , focused on the ball ,so my swing can get steep, over the top trying to smash the ball, the worst thought for a club golfer. I'll definitely use this drill with when on the range. 9:39
Iona, you are an absolute gem. This works, I’m tall, sway in my swing and this absolutely quietens the body. It is a gotcha moment, best tip ever
Thanks

OMG Iona thanks for sharing this...tried it yesterday and was able to move my ball launch from 4 degrees left to 2 degrees right and I have better balance...thanks again!
Great video and very true. This was how I got taught to correct coming over the top. Either feet together or one behind the other.

Exceptional content. Thank you for all the help and entertainment.
Thanks Iona I have been swaying a lot in my swing but your tip has helped me to get back in balance.
Great tip from a beautiful spot. Love the mountains in the background. Nice video.
Brilliant drill; thank you Iona

The teaching pro at my local club uses this drill as almost a starter for his students, it's brilliant.!
Very well broken down and explained. Thank you 😊
« Real penny drop moment » for me as well. Thank you for really helping me with my swing, Iona. Massive props.
Thanks for this! Took it to the course this weekend and it made a huge difference; would have loved to have had this one years ago.
Pretty simple to the point practice swing drill, I am going to have to try this , Thank you Iona 👍
So good, thanks. Please do more video's. With all the talk of the body leading and swinging this shows how powerful the arms really are, Thanks again.
Oh my gosh is right Iona , what a great tip , just applied it in my garage and I could feel it , going to the range early tomorrow , cheers
Glad I 'dropped by' to see this drill you were Raving about, then to my surprise finding it is, as you said, a longtime classic drill. I hadn't done in a long time and one my mother, an excellent club champion in her time, told me about, but I forgot about it. I will now add this to my practice routine, because you nailed it.. one of my biggest challenges has often been to have the feeling of going around verses up and down!! Even yesterday when overly tired in the heat, I could feel lapsing g I to that and had to stop to remember how to turn.. lol. This helped hugely. Thank you!! Robin
Thanks Iona - this is super useful
Yet another fantastic educational
video. Thanks Iona, defo gonna give this a try
Thanks for the tips I find all your content amazing
I cannot wait to do this drill A LOT. Starting tomorrow morning ! Thank you thank you thank you
Following up!
Thanks again Iona!
off up the range tonight to try this. I did use it many years ago but had forgotten how useful it is. Thank you :)
Thanks for this!!! Once a teacher changed my natural swing for a more vertical one and I only had problems since there...I´ll try with your method .
(By the way, I´ve been lucky to be at Bled twice, great place!. I´m from Argentina but my father was born in Ljubljana)
Thank you very much. This really helped me out. Especially with my irons.
That was great and so relevant to where I'm at with my game. Thankyou so much.
Really good drill and well presented. Thanks Iona. Keep ‘em coming.
I think its a great drill. I have back issues and it help with lasting longer in a golf round.
good stuff! been trying this drill and it makes easier for me not to overswing, and play with relaxed arms.
Excellent vid. By the way, Pete Cowen also loves this drill. He says most amateurs would play better if they played a full round with their feet together simply for the consistent contact benefits.
Iona, this has been my "go to" drill for whenever my swing gets too rushed. It works like a charm every time...
Hey thanks Iona, I have been performing that drill for years. One of my first lessons, I wanted to learn how to play a draw and that’s exactly what he had me learning. Every now and then I go back to that for a check up
Nice drill simple and very effective
Such an enjoyable and informative 10 minutes. Tx Iona and crew
Thank you from Canada this drill is helping me so much thank.
Hi Iona I tried this on the range today wow so easy I must say will have another go on Friday it’s beautiful
Will be trying this! Addressed everything I do not do correctly. Ty ❤
Great tip and drill and was very well presented . Thanks Iona !
Great drill! As a cricket player this will help with my swing as cut down on it natural from years of cricket!
