From what I remember, this is one of the weird ports where most of the textures (including the space background) are replaced with a fleshy-like alien appearance
Yes. This is the English localization of Arcade Salamander, changed to Life Force. They changed the entire plot to be about eliminating a malignant sapient tumor inside a colossal alien organism.
This has to be the EASIEST Gradius game ever. The fact that Shadowserg's playing the Japanese Life Force just shows. Normally, the 4th stage would be RUTLESS in the original Japanese Salamander (Don't think about the American Life Force because think of it as a prototype shown in this video), but at least they did make some reasonable changes
I'll give him points for trying to ram into you at least; Plus in other versions of the game he has actual attacks! A lightning bolt and Ducker troops in the PCE version, a guard snake in the NES one (the only one I've played so far, with my dad too!), and on the MSX they have him scoot around the arena freely and even gave him a second phase as a huge screen-filling battleship!
Boss list:
00:03 01 Golem
00:59 02 Zylom
01:46 03 Intruder
02:34 04 Fortress Valis
03:06 05 Gaw
06:42 Final Boss - Zelos Force
07:20 Ending

kinda precious how the game felt like telling you to fire against the wall to dig just in case you didn't think of doing that yourself
Damn, those Maoi Heads were our for blood at the end!
Damn! This version was definitely a quarter robber with the last level! Bravo with your patience! 😁

Sound effects are similar to Gradius V. I love destroying the Zelos in the first stage when they go "HWAH!"
This game looks like the most untouched shoot em' up.
This game really likes poison of snake a lot, seems almost every boss uses that theme
Somehow my playback speed was at 2x and the entire time I was like how can you possibly have the reflexes to play this game that’s got the zoomies 😂
This version was, I believe, the one released in Japan, 'LIFE FORCE' (which, to be fair, is a minor-changed version of 'Salamander').
A Reference to Gradius!
Yeah, the fifth boss got replaced with a Egyptian mask boss in the NES port.
Cool game👍👍👍
dat final boss "fight" XD
yeah that's every much a MOOD, where they just don't bother fighting you thinking their very existence will get you to surrender on the spot XD

You ever Play The Guardian Legend on NES? It's a Great Game
Why does the final boss scream like Hank Hill? Lol
