The roads were very clear…however some of the parking lots were all ice. We didn’t have snow tires on our car and ended up getting stuck in a parking lot and had to use the chains to get out 😕
I live in ortisei and i recomment alpe di siusi. It is perfect for non skiers in the winter. You got awesome hiking up there. Its a gondola ride starting directly from ortisei :)
Hi...great video with good advice. We are planning a trip to italy in mid march 2025. Staying in Florence we were hoping to take a train in for the day to at least see the Dolomite area. I know we would miss a lot but our time is limited. You mentioned going during winter but never said what months winter is. Can you speak to how the weather is there during March and if roads might be open by then?
Hi Alex thanks for sharing! May i know which company you rented your car from and if managed to get winter tyres? Im struggling to find a company that rents our winter tyres instead of chains. I only found hertz but they only offer smaller car options
Our rental car didn’t have winter tires either unfortunately! The roads were pretty clear but we did get stuck in a parking lot that was all ice, and had to use the chains to get out. Our car was also not all wheel drive…next time I would definitely make sure the car was all wheel drive. We rented the car from Milan and there was no snow there at the time…I’m wondering if maybe rental car companies closer to the Dolomites might offer winter tires
Hi Alex, thank you for the video. We’re traveling to the Dolomites and Italy for the first time this Christmas. My wife loves your black jacket at the 2:25 mark. What brand/model is it? Thanks!
