Cr3sc3ntBunnyy Without even being corsets, our underwear can really change our bodies. Likely many of them are wearing a girdle of some sort, and their bras back then aimed for a very different shape.
A bit late of me to reply to this but; girdles were the norm and worn by most women whether they were slender or not. You can imagine this nipped in the waist and smoothed out the silhouette quite a bit. They were more effective than what we call spanx now. Having said that the real corset (steel boned, made out of non stretch materials) came back for a short stint in the fifties, particularly for "the new look" that required quite dramatic curves.
Bunnie A lot of women wore a girdle but Corsets were out at the time. The majority of people especially women had slim figures because, they watched what they ate. The majority of women were stay at home moms, they did a lot of housework without all the modern conveniences. (Vacuum cleaner? If you were lucky! Rugs were taken outside and beat with a rug beater.) That alone was a great cardio workout. While there were restaurants, fast food wasn’t around yet. There was no such thing as “supersized” items on the menu. I can attest to this because I was born in 1961, I was 17 years old before I saw my first McDonald’s. 😂🤣
@@itsalwayshalloweenexceptwh5118 Lol. Most women then couldn't possibly afford such foundation garments. Wages for the working and lower middle classes were poor even for men. Less wages still for women for the same jobs. You must be talking about fashion models and the better off - although most didn't like being constricted. Compare the figures and physiques of the 50's to those of the 60's and 70's. Very much the same. Only different clothes. Didn't wear corsets then. Even in the 80's there was only a change amongst the few who had started feasting on McDonald's and too much cola. No such thing as a pizza, and hardly any British touched pasta. Look what that is made of 😕
I was born in 1961 and I wore a lot of dresses as a little girl. The “hats and gloves” were reserved for a special occasion or church on Sunday. Those were the days when women knew how to be women, elegant and beautiful. They didn’t have to put everything on display out in the open like too many women do today. Thank you very much I really enjoyed your video. I also subscribed to your channel, looking forward to seeing more of your work. 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
What has happened to us? …our environment , our bodies , our manners We need a re-set. When I look at this all I can think of is the state of things today - pollution and graffiti on the streets , obesity , insane behaviour .. there definitely are things that are better now, not perfect by any means, but improved , but everything else in western society looks severely under threat of demise. Common courtesy and self respect , respect for others never go out of style. ( If you think I’m kidding see Nick Johnsons channel. Or that Lizzo walking around literally with her backside hanging out. 💩)
These women are all so beautiful! So elegant!
How was it that women in the 50s were so beautiful? Like genuinely stunning?
I'd wear these outfits! They're very flattering and chic.
I would totaly wear everything in here but mink. ;)
I agree no fur 😃❤️😍😘
MissGreyBlueEyes We're with you on that.
I remember wearing something similar in navy blue that my mum made me wear, it had a string with a white Pom Pom around the neck.
OOTD in the 1950's :)

Haahaha no. They walked everywhere (exercise) and didn't ear processed crap.
The above two replies are wrong.

Estilo de vida de la época

Women that's era are slim...😊
All those random “everyday women on the street” were obviously planned and placed models. 😉
I suspect some were. I remember women dressing like that when I was a kid.
