With a modern saw, and a Chains this loose, you could risk snapping it. (And you really don't want a Chain in your face) I haven't seen it for real, so it could be, that it's perfectly safe. I was answering Galaxy, who compared it to a modern one. On the other hand I must appreciate the great Job done to restore it. I have never seen such a saw before.
No kidding, this is old school, real craftsmanship, when you didn't just throw things away. Being a Mechanic/Machinist, I have so much respect for this guy.
The brand of this chainsaw is called "Дружба" or "Druschba" which means "Friendship". It was a very popular brand in the USSR and eastern europe. So popular in fact that the Romanians adopted "Druschba" as the name for chainsaw. So "Druschba" means friendship in russian and chainsaw in romanian. :)
Funny fact #2 ; ) In Russia angle grinder called - болгарка [ bolgarka ] :) Bulgarian, but it mean like a woman from Bulgaria. =)) Despite the name on the box - "uglo shlifoval'naya mashina (U.SH.M)" or angle grinder. The first copies of such machines came to the Soviet Union from the then friendly Bulgaria, where they were made. According to the habit of the people, a long and inconvenient name was tried to be shortened. As a result, a new word - "bolgarka" - became firmly in use.

It shows what a difference there is from today’s tools or just about anything you buy the quality comparison. All the nuts and bolts, metal gears and actual grease able bearings in there. You know? Things you can really work on! And No Computer Parts!!! Thanks for Sharing. Much Appreciated... Great Job and God Bless!!!🙏🙏👍👍👍

Come on man this runs better than my new chainsaw I bought a week ago
EDIT: I mean OUR chainsaw not my chainsaw
It doesnt run very good. And the chains seems a little too loose for me.
:)
@@instant_soop if you take the fact that it is 50Y.O it runs fucking good !

Being a Mechanic/Machinist, I have so much respect for this guy.
probably for reusing that old scuffed up piston and rings that's going to damage the bore.
Вот это древность! Пила моего детства, помню это чудо техники.
это ДРУЖБА4 у нас есть такой аппарат в раюочем состоянии. я так полюбил его что отцу запрещал продать❤
I'm most impressed that the fuel cable survived all this time.
Spelled as "drujbă" :).
@@vasivilvoiu2126 Oh, thanks!

Funny fact #2 ; )
In Russia angle grinder called - болгарка [ bolgarka ] :)
Bulgarian, but it mean like a woman from Bulgaria. =))
Despite the name on the box - "uglo shlifoval'naya mashina (U.SH.M)" or angle grinder.
The first copies of such machines came to the Soviet Union from the then friendly Bulgaria, where they were made. According to the habit of the people, a long and inconvenient name was tried to be shortened. As a result, a new word - "bolgarka" - became firmly in use.
За оцинковку шины отдельный плюс. Я думал просто почистишь и так оставишь.
Спасибо!)

What a beautiful restoration!! I always appreciate seeing someone rebuilding machines from the past.
Thank you!:)
...Amen on the simplicity and the lack of computer parts!...Husqvarna can keep their Autotune and Strato and Stihl can keep their M-tronic...been working on chainsaws for 30 years and I no longer have any desire to work on them...mostly this stuff is mandated by the U.S. EPA and the European Union.....might smoke out a pine beetle with our old 16:1 old school chainsaws. What is the fuel mix ratio on these old Russian chainsaws?
he filled the tank with vodka, im 100% sure
Without vodka, it would not start.
😂😂😂awesome
146%
@@Great_idea Just like any good Russian? ;)
It's actually designed to run with vodka as the fuel and pork fat as the primary lubricant.
Restoration abilities 10/10. Chain sharpening abilities 2/10

Really nice restoration. I particularly like how you applied a bunch of different techniques. I was particularly amazed by the zinc plating on the bar. That was really neat.

Вы правы, это уже имя нарицательное:) Мой тесть тоже все пилы Дружбой называет, хотя у него их 4 или 5 разных фирм:)
watching this im nearly crying at how over-engineered that saw is. rebuilt one recently and this is like cold fusion compared to the stihl. Still good watch though ^_^
Well 1.) Soviet Union, where you have to assue it will break, and easily repaired. 2.) This Chainsaw was probably more of an industrial tool, rather than a consumer product.

Not uncommon for the piston top to be a domed on a two stroke but the combustion chamber usually has a bell shape where the edges squish the mix up towards the plug.
Actually, the last 2 stroke Lawnboy lawnmowers were hemis. Domed piston with hemispherical combustion chamber. Evil little buggers would seemingly cut through a bamboo patch!
