    In this video it is represented doing a squat, if you were to lift 50 kg on Earth, the result is very different in other worlds with different gravities.

    I like the fact that they added shadows and coloured lighting to the character for each planet. They didn’t have to, but they did it anyway.

    When you lift weight, you have to lift your arm as well. The sun’s gravity is so strong that I don’t think you could even lift your arm.

I have no idea how you got that, and for phobos, as I said, it's hard to know, because the small gravity and big curvature makes it hard to have a good impulse, it would be hard even with the conditions of earth, do better maths

      on ceres it's about 500 m/s so a handheld electromagnetic launcher could work to get stuff to orbit, on phobos it's 40 km/h so you can throw stuff into orbit, on deimos it's 20 km/h so a sprint jump would get YOU to orbit, it's not that hard

    What's crazy to think about, is that gravity has no effect on mass. So even if you were lifting 86,000kg on Phobos, it would still take a tremendous amount of effort to overcome it's inertia that quickly and those would be some super slow lifts.

      @@bonerprime4010 If you held the weight perfectly still, then yes you would be able to hold it up. But if it was moving, since its mass is so big and kinetic energy = (1/2) * mass * (velocity^2), you would need to put a LOT of force to stop it from moving.

    I think it is important to factor in the weight of the human body - most people would be incapable to support their own body weight on the sun, much less do a squat that deep.
    But awesome video regardless! I was really shocked at how low the gravity was on phobos until i realized that they are only a few kilometers across!

      Fun fact: On Titan, you could legitimately fashion wings for yourself and fly like a bird by flapping your arms. Dense atmosphere + Low Grav let you do that

    I love animations like this that puts things in perspective with something common to understand. I can wrap my mind around the gravitational force of the planet by imagining what I'd be able to lift there. You can imagine what moving around and all would be like. Thank you for making this!

    Really cool to see the differences. My only suggestion would be to have a g-factor with Earth being 1G and the moon for instance being 1/6 of a g. Otherwise very interesting.

    Curious if you thought to account for added bodyweight, it's pretty impactful on squats.

    Amazing animation as always. But usually in the metric system, gravity is measured in m/s². The unit g/m² measures area density.

    Funny but as someone already wrote you ignored inertia. Without any gravity, using equations a=F/m and x=a*t^2/2 you can calculate that:
    To move 50kg by 0.5m you need to use force 50N for 1 second.
    To move 86000kg by 0.5m you need to use force 50N for 41 seconds.
    Doing one rep of exercise for 1s and then the same weight for 41s is not the same for human body.

    You're accounting for gravity but not inertia. Lifting huge weights with little gravitational influence is like trying to push a boat.
    Besides, if you managed to squat several thousand kilos you'd launch the bar into space.

      These weights are based on anchoring yourself to the ground first - so that you don't float away.

    From what I know, the video is almost correct, except for the fact that on each of the moons and planets the animation shows the person lifting the weight in the exact same amount of time.
    It is true that you could hold 790 kg on Pluto with the same force as 50 kg on Earth, same for squating down. But on the way up you would have to not only oppose the force of gravity but accelerate the weight. In order for the person in the video to accelerate 790 kg upward like they show in the video, they would have to be able to lift more like 130 kg on earth than 50.
    And to lift 86000 kg on Phobos, you'd need to be able to lift 4430 kg on Earth

    Amazing video. Few inconsistencies. Gravity is calculated in meters per second^2. It’s grams per meters ^2 in the video. Also mass is unchanging but the weight is what changes according to gravity. So 200 kilograms on earth which is the mass will remain 200 kilograms on mars but the 200lbs of weight will change on 75.4 lbs.

    *Fun Fact* : you could lift *163,450* kg on Deimos (another moon of mars). That's almost twice as what you would have lift on mars. (For 50kgs on earth)
