- The 1993 WAC Football showdown between Fresno State and BYU was a high-scoring affair that went down to the wire. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 17-3 lead in the second quarter, but the Cougars rallied in the fourth quarter. Fresno State finally pulled away in the final minutes, scoring two touchdowns to secure a 48-45 victory.
The Bulldogs were led by quarterback Trent Dilfer, who threw for 456 yards and four touchdowns. Receiver Malcolm Seabron had a big game for Fresno State.
The Cougars were paced by quarterback John Walsh, who threw for 381 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Tim Nowatzke had a big game for BYU.
The game was played in front of a sellout crowd of 65,816 at Cougar Stadium in Provo, Utah. The victory gave Fresno State a share of the WAC title, along with BYU and Wyoming.
The final score was Fresno State 48, BYU 45.
