Duck tape any old phone with charging cable on wall…. Run Philips Hue… now you got an even more powerful dedicated touch screen control n it is free. 😂
Kip, what happens if for some reason there is no longer communication between the Hue bridge and the lights? Can I still turn them off considering the traditional light switch is no longer accessible?
Hi Kip, are there hardwired variants? I am not an electrician either but have and do change light switches etc, obviously exercising caution and safely.
Not Hue ones, no.. you might be able to find some third party Zigbee compatible switches though. Although I’m always a bit wary of wiring random Chinese stuff in!
question: Can I use these instead, Schneider Electric Lisse White Moulded - Single Socket Spacer // Schneider Electric - Lisse White Moulded I have the flic twist, and i need to do what you did but using these cheaper alternatives ;-)
@@dstmars1 It's a video for people who own a Philips Hue Tap Dial Switch who want to replace their light switch.. which is exactly what the title says?

Hi Kip, I am watching your video from Australia and I cant find an adapter to cover the switch plate. Could you pls suggest a device? many thanks
Oooh I really can’t help, heck I don’t even know what Aussie light switches look like! Sorry!

Yup. But I’ve never had that happen
@@kiphakes I understand, and what are the steps to turn them off "manually"?
Like a standard light bulb. Remove power?

@@kiphakes Yes you don't want a back door into your back door.

I’m not convinced it would work

Crazy how they don’t just line the holes up to mount it with the switch box holes 🤷♂️ awesome video tho kip once again
Silly, isn’t it? Cheers buddy!!
@@kiphakes very sir
Very informative video, just love Phillips hue stuff, your videos helped me a lot.
Hope your back is doing fine now.
Kind regards,
Johnny
Nice one Kip 😀
Cheers Mike!
I don't get it. What does it do? Is it a dimmer switch? Is it for switches in the UK only? Is there a version for US?
I think you need to look at my dedicated video on the switch itself..
th-cam.com/video/AT8VWZ9Z5Nk/w-d-xo.html - this is just about mounting it
@@kiphakes OK I get it. It's a clickbait video that makes people watch another video and rack up the clicks for you. No thanks.

Is it only tap dial. Can senic Gira switch work with it ?
@@TheShambollix it’s not just a tap dial, I mention several others, but I’ve never heard of those kind!
Great video! Clearly explained, even for those who haven't yet ventured into the Hue world.
Love that you can cover the existing basic light switches.
