Wow this system is so old, i used to work for Cardinal Health the company that created the Pyxis medstations, now i believe some other company is running them, great system for the nurses to get their meds and medical items fast and have accountability of the items in the cabinets, so the Pharmacy can track everything.

The doctor order, nurse to fax it in pharmacy, wait for the mar, if the mar came its profilled, and you can take it in the pyxis the medication for the patient

isn't this like bypassing the pharmacist though or does it get checked by the pharmacist then released to the pt ? just curious

It can be configured to work either way.

Medications are being checked by the Pharmacists before going into respective Pyxis stations. Everything is electronically recorded. No bypassing happens.

this is basically just used as a glorified medicine cabinet a nurse can get whatever she wants whenever she wants even if by accident
a nurse who was rushed tryed to search for VERSED and instead got VEC uronium the machine didnt complain much about this
the issue is one drug makes you nice and relaxed
the other will stop your lungs
