    I use the pillow you guys suggested (a few weeks back) when getting out of car. I turn to left and get both legs out, lift. This is also the way ladies getting out of vehicle with dress/skirt on. Great tips! Excellent tips! 👍🏻

    Very helpful guys. I’ve watched about every video concerning disc injury, which I’m currently experiencing. Unfortunately I’m not able to take time off, working in the ER during these covid times, and this has truly helped me out of a lot of pain

    Steering wheel: I find that I change my grip according to traffic conditions; staying in a lane on a highway gives a lot more flexibility than stop&go on city streets.
    It's also useful to shift positions to prevent stiffness. Even angling one shoulder slightly forward for a few moments can relieve stress if done occasionally - and on both sides!

    Hey guys, any chance you could do a video on appropriate sitting positions while working from home?
    Ever since lockdown, I’ve been glued to a dining chair while trying to work from my laptop and my back is really beginning to suffer! Any tips to help ease it please, in terms of how to sit and perhaps exercises I can do through the day during breaks?
    Cheers!

    My biggest problem is with headrest pushing my head forward and the back of the seat being too curved in. It is so uncomfortable and I live doing neck stretches and upper back stretches. I don’t know if the headrests are designed for taller people (I am only 5’2”) or just poorly designed.

    • @daliab8493
      @daliab8493 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      omg! thank you for this comment! my thoughts exactly!!! (i'm also 5'2"). i actually angle the seat back a bit for this reason. i also have the seats with the back/bum warmer and it feels nice to keep the muscles warm. i also sometimes use a memory foam horseshoe neck pillow. :)

    the way they make car seats these days kills the neck and back. i drive a 1990 chevy truck and the seat and headrest is straight. perfect. thank you for this video. if i need to drive mom’s car, i’ll roll up my towels ❤️. # why the hell do headrests point forward anyway 😡

      I don't know about cars, but airplane seats made so uncomfortable for safety reasons, to do least damage to the body during the collision.

      Right? the headrests are crazy making! I think they are designed for .men who are on computers all day. The curved seat plus headrest pushing my head forward are so uncomfortable.

    Thanks for this excellent video. Can you share tips on best way to sit as a passenger in a car for a long journey. I'm dreading this 4 hr journey and wondering should I sit in back with legs pulled into chest or out extending across back seats? My sciatica is unbearable but I have no alternative for this journey. Please help! 🙏

    I have idiopathic scoliosis, lumbar spinal stenosis, herniated disc, sciatica. How do I address exercises, sitting in a car, chair, etc. to help decrease pain

    Bob and Brad - My issue is that pain starts to form in my butt at two points and then it starts to go down my legs - is this Sciatica? After driving in my car it acts up bad. Pain can go down the right side of my right leg or left, on the inside up to my knee. I do have a disc issue lower back, #5.

  • @dartanion436

    Make sure your lumbar and the cars lumbar support line up correctly. Not every seat or person is the same. This is true for office chairs, if you sit in a chair and the lumbar support is too high or too low it will not help.

    Nobody uses the 10/2 position anymore and haven't for years! They recommend 4/8 now because of driver airbags now. :) At 10/2, airbags broke bones in the arms and shoulders. Yeah you'll live, but you'll be suffering some kind of way. :P

    I live an hour away from anywhere and have literally walked into my friends house while visiting, dropped to the floor and did pressups. I refuse to care what anybody thinks. I am tired of being in pain all the time.

    Can you please do a video talking about sports cars and bucket seats for people with herniated discs? is a wedge recommended underneath the but as well as the Mackenzie roll to even out the leg?

    how did you guys know i was having this specific problem? I drove down to Corpus Christi from Lubbock and I kept trying to take breaks and walk around but my hip still got really sore. After a few days of a bit of walking and stretching, its finally feeling a bit better.

  • @dianemarie8873
    @dianemarie8873 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also, in this day and age of airbags, "10 & 2" is too high, so lower is better because of that as well as better for your back/shoulders.

    Hello. Kindly advise if this sitting method can be used by people who suffer with herniated discs

    • @mikearchibald744
      @mikearchibald744 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most sciatica is from herniated discs. Driving is just painful for me, not so much for the sitting but holding down the gas pedal because my car doesn't have cruise control. Driving is the bane of my existence.
