Viewers- If you know this trail, please keep coordinates and trail names out of the comments section. Thank you. NOTE: I really hope everyone's gotten the chance to get one more mountain ride in before winter really sets in! We were cutting it pretty tight to ride this day, but it was so worth it! Super cool views and a really fun time. Also, I am giving some serious consideration to trying some different tires after this ride! Let me know what you guys would recommend for an aggressive tread patterned dual sport tire. I'm looking for good off-road performance without losing too much longevity if they're ridden on street. Thanks!!
@ that’s sad to hear and I hate that. I’m always trying to find new places to ride. I always try to keep gates shut or closed if I find them that way, stay on trail and be courteous to other users. Sad we can’t share these people spots because people ruin them!
Shoot me an email! I can give you some areas to look. I just don’t like putting locations out on the internet. I’ve personally seen trail systems get ruined by trash and misuse and sometimes so bad that the trails get shut down entirely. I just don’t want to be a negative impact on the places I love.
Love it! Growing up in Ontario Canada, winters were far too long for a kid with abusive parents to be trapped inside! So I have lots of experience in riding in the snow with crappy tires. One of the things that worked the best, was taking 97/99% of the air out of the back tire and 85/90% of the air out of the front tire! I can't tell you what tires I would have been using, but for the most part I believe they were soft terrain" However, one year I had medium terrain tires on my bike, they were awesome in the snow and ice awesome! I actually beat a guy with studded tires doing radars runs on a lake, by 3 mph! Great video man!
Sorry to hear you had a rough childhood, but it's good to hear you had the back woods to escape to. The wilderness is often a therapeutic place. I'll have to try that the next time I am out in some snow. I've spent a good while on H/T tires and they've been awesome. They just underperform in this sort of environment. Maybe my next set will be an M/T!
Yeah it was a really cool spot! I’m glad I got to explore it before it was totally blanketed with snow. I’m stoked you got to get another ride in today! Make use of the good weather when ya get it 🤟🏼
cool ride again. show some b roll of the views when you get to the top of the mountain. would be cool to see more of that since I will never get there myself. thanks for sharing
I think I have some other footage of it. Maybe I’ll post some extra shorts or something if there’s any other good clips 🤟🏼 I’m glad I could at least take you there via video!
Jack, the views on your rides are stunning! Yeah those darn branches! I took one to the face in the woods last weekend…only clued in how hard they whipped me when I saw my goggles later….LOL! We are not in snow yet but temps are coming down. I think this will be my first year riding studs. Looking forward to riding on ice and snow! Go for the second set of tires! They will definitely make a huge difference!
Thanks! Those branches can be so frustrating lol. I hope they didn't crack your googles too bad!! It won't be long before the big snow starts coming down. I haven't tried studs yet, but I have been meaning to so please let me know how you like them when you try them! You have any good tire recommendations?
Great riding, beautiful place! Getting a second set of dedicated off road set up is a great idea, I’d definitely suggest trying out Moose bibs, with the fatty Golden tyres. I’m looking to get a second set and run tubes for dual sport rides. Great viddy as always!
@@ridemotoeveryday I’ve heard good things about those Golden tires! I might throw the dedicated off-road tires on my Dubya/excel wheels and then the dual sport tires and tubes on my factory wheels.
I had a similar ride this past weekend. About the same amount of snow. Crazy how it can make an otherwise easy trail so difficult and dangerous in places. Super fun but we were so cold riding home😂😂 Good video brother thank you
Oh man it can easily make a trail at least 50% harder! Yeah it’s definitely gettin cold out. I’ve been layering up and throwing the windbreaker on top and that seems to work well. I got a pair of gortex glove liners that also work like a dream 🤟🏼 Glad you liked the video man!
At least you requited some help this time. Those slick trails are fun, until they are'n't. I drove my T Bucket to town today----------I won't be doing that again. LOL I am upstairs in my man cave sitting in front of the heater. Snow is all around me, and it is suppose to get down to 18 degrees tonight. When I was a field mechanic I sometimes said that it was time to cab-up. Well, it is time to house-up. I don't know how I did it for 45 years. It would kill me now. I am looking forward to you guys finding a trail out of there.
@@BuilderofRat yeah I was super glad I got to go so some riding with a friend! I was starting to get sick of having nobody to chase around the mountains🤟🏼 Man I bet that was a cold ride! Winter is most definitely showing up in a hurry. I’m happy to just sit and edit footage for a while now while everything freezes over outside. That’s impressive you kept up with that for 45 years!!
@@madjack_757 One time in the 70s I was riding my 175 on some frozen ponds. It was -20 degrees that day. It was only about 3 miles from home, and I was riding along and broke through the ice, The water was only about 2 feet deep. I picked up the bike and thank goodness it started up. I headed for home realizing that I was in deep crap. I made it home, but my mitten was frozen to the handlebars. I had my Wife come out and poor warm water on my hand. I was wearing a snowmobile suit and the zipper was was frozen too. I had to climb into the shower to thaw out my zipper. You know Jack, it is amazing that I survived my youth!!!! I was newly married and we only had 1 car and my bike, so I left the car for the wife and rode my bike to work all year. At the time I lived in Klamath Falls Oregon, and it gets cold. I only had 2 miles to make it to work, and a person can handle below zero temps for 10 minutes. I made a 3rd wheel for my 175 and it worked quite well. I went for a ride with my oldest Son one day, and we were on a frozen pond again. When you set up a 3rd wheel, you make it so that when you sit on the bike, and the suspension goes down a little the 3rd wheel is straight up and down. I stopped out in the middle of this pond (different pond) and we got off. With nobody on the bike the bike is leaning into the 3rd wheel. I started up the bike and let the clutch out and the bike took off. My Son's eyes got really big, and he asked "where is it going?" I said, " It will come back". When it did come back, my Son said, "let it go again." So we ended up watching the bike go in circles all by its self. My Son was only about 5 years old, and he still remembers that time.
@@BuilderofRat Man you are NUTS! How did you not get frostbite?? Thats such a great story though. So cool your son remembers the moment on the frozen pond too. Thats a great childhood experience.
@@madjack_757 It only took me about 15 minutes to make it home, and only half of me was wet. I had good mittens, so my hands were not terribly cold. I had to go down a hill on my way to work, and there was a stop sign at the bottom. The road was a sheet of ice, but I was able to stop at the stop sign. I looked in the mirror and saw this guy in a car going way to fast to stop. I could not go because of traffic, so I went over to the sidewalk in front of a building. He just blared the horn, and somehow missed everyone. I thought that I was going to see a big wreck. I had zero trouble riding my bike on the roads covered with Ice, but I had to watch my mirror like a hawk. There is no wondering how accidents happen. Speed is the main culprit. Now days it is IDIOTS messing with their phone!!!!

Hahaha well the funny part was it was the mud underneath the snow that got me! I honestly thought it was pretty funny cuz it didn’t hurt or anything lol
I run motoz but like you I'm thinking of another set of enduros on 2nd rim set. Would be interested in what ur thinking n if you'd moose them...... cheers and thanks for the great content
Yeah, thats kinda what I was thinking! I have a set of dubya/excel hubs and rims that I am currently running with my tubed motoz tractionators and then I have a set of factory rims and hubs just sitting in my garage. I was thinking maybe the dubya rims get mouse inserts and more of an intermediate or even a soft compound tire and then use the other wheels for hard terrain tires.
Its actually much less scary than you would think. If someone is hunting with a rifle, then their hope is to selectively make a single shot to take down a game animal. If someone is out bird hunting with a shotgun, then I would have to be really close to them for it to be a concern since the lethal range of shotguns is pretty short but it depends on what loads they're using I suppose. Bird loads are pretty weak though. I spend my time out in pretty remote locations and i'd say 85% of my interactions with people I have out there we all have guns carried openly. I hope to never see that culture fade out of American life either :)
