The German collector will spend close to $500 to have it professionally restored worth a million if it were not damaged. To own a vase in any condition from Imperial China is what dreams are made of.

In England years ago, the English enjoyed Asian ceramics as the quality was superior to ironstone. The rush to collect these pieces became the rage in the 1700's and early part of the 1800's among the royals, nobles, and those of great wealth. Some would even take out loans against their property to acquire such pieces. Once the English acquired the knowledge to create their own fine English china the drive for Asian ceramics waned.
The knowledge and ability to rival Chinese China was what started the Industrial Revolution. We lost the Revolution only recently when Wedgwood offshores its production.
In the blink of an eye the lady became the favourite grandmother.

Sadly, this vase was most likely stolen/looted from the Summer Palace, China.
But fine bone China are still the highest prized and most valued.
Most likely it was stolen
