To all the people saying they should destroy the rhino cups I say what a waste. These are artifacts from the 17th and 18th century from when the world was a much different place. I understand your reasoning but saving those peices and holding them at such an extraordinary value only perpetuates the black market for rhino horns even more because they're worth a lot of money, and when something is worth a lot of money people will do horrible things to get it. Rhinos are killed in horrific ways, and their numbers are dwindling. Mother's eyes are gauged out while their babies helplessly watch. Poachers saw her horns off while she's blind and leave her for dead with the baby desperately trying to revive its mother. Selling ANY rhino horns or elephant tusks no matter how old they are perpetuates the market and drives poachers to kill more to make more money. You shouldn't care about some old sculpture carved from a rhinos horn, you should care about your great grandchildren walking the same earth as rhinos still do and being in awe of what a magnificent and priceless creature they are.

That last appraiser for the pocket watch was literally Rick’s appraiser. “Yeah. This watch is worth up to 250k retail.” Meanwhile, it’s actually worth 1.5 million dollars.
I don't watch "Rick." I think people should be aware that you pay an appraiser and the appraiser cannot then buy your object. It's up to you to know what you are selling. "Rick" has no obligation to tell you how much he thinks your item is worth. So do your own research before you hand over your "antique" for peanuts!
One, at the time no one knew it was a 1 of a kind. Two, it was sold 12 years after that appraisal. Markets for antiques can change dramatically in that time.
The appraiser honestly did not KNOW it's true value when it came on the Road Show. Later it was found to be the ONLY ONE in existence.....Makes a big diff you know.
They were from the 17th and 18th centuries...so close to ancient and before they were on the verge of extinction. Probably an artifact that should be in a museum. Even though the practice is outdated and inhumane it's still a part of history.
One thing obvious about the PBS version... so many expensive finds are setup. Unfortunately real people can rarely mimic real emotion when they find out the value of their "unknown" treasures.
How do you have a signed Diego Rivera in your house and not think to get it valued? If I saw that hanging behind the door in a friend's house I would be urging them to get it checked out.
I love this old things so much that I wrote a series of romance novels about an antique shop whose owner works to return personal items to those who should have them. 📚📕📖
Im never buying rhino or stuff off exotic animals or animals in general..but I did buy a table and later discovered that it had elephant horn on it. Its second hand and I thought it was marble or something.
Not a watch collector but do love watches and know a good amount about them. And I was watching the Patek watch episode at my parents one night. And we would guess the value and I was the only one that knew it was worth atleast 250k plus.
Is 1 million "crazy rich" these days? It's a hell of a lot of money, but..."crazy rich?" Damian Lillard just signed a max NBA contract for 196 million. That's crazy rich.

Both went away and I’m still sad about it. Made everyone think we might just have one of those paintings or Knick knacks hidden in our cupboards or attics!
Watched this show once and a young girl had 12 African masks she had brought in to have checked. The appraiser indicated the value was one million. She naturally was all excited and said one mill for all these masks? The appraiser said no, one mill per mask....12 mill total. At the end of the show she was in front of her masks and said they were for sale and she would give a great price!

Corpus Christi? Whoa! I live there.lol.
They were from the 17th and 18th centuries...so close to ancient and before they were on the verge of extinction. Probably an artifact that should be in a museum. Even though the practice is outdated and inhumane it's still a part of history.
I better hold onto this Timex I have.
It's hard to imagine being so rich that you could buy million dollar watches. I'd sell the antique In a heart beat and retire
The company that made the watch bought it. It's in their museum now.
One thing obvious about the PBS version... so many expensive finds are setup. Unfortunately real people can rarely mimic real emotion when they find out the value of their "unknown" treasures.
So what are the probabilities of finding or inheriting such items?
I have one old antique brass statue but wht i do for auctions
How do you have a signed Diego Rivera in your house and not think to get it valued? If I saw that hanging behind the door in a friend's house I would be urging them to get it checked out.
Don’t forget that all these good programs originate in the UK 😊
The only thing I found unusual in my grandma's attic was my grandma. She got lost.
Duke Of Hesse 😂😂
I Take the watch, Patek Philippe 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
That watch at the end reminds me of the episode of Only Fools and Horses where they find the rare watch.
00:39 The most understated "Dayum" in the history of humans...She must be a real pip...
The composure some of these folks have is admirable, lol... I would have leapt into the appraisers arms and starting kissing them!
I love this old things so much that I wrote a series of romance novels about an antique shop whose owner works to return personal items to those who should have them. 📚📕📖
That's awesome
i wish this showed if they sold or not,and for how much.a few at the end they did,but not all.
It’s funny how they try to keep a straight face but actually they’re saying CHA-CHING!!!!!!
How can I attend antique roadshow ???
Nicely done as usual, Grunge.
Oh yeah. As soon as I'm told it's worth a bundle, it's sold!
Is 1 million "crazy rich" these days? It's a hell of a lot of money, but..."crazy rich?" Damian Lillard just signed a max NBA contract for 196 million. That's crazy rich.
Yea well people love to spend money on watching dudes play with balls
WOW!!!
Who is NOT surprised China changed its mind?
stop talking shit when China is actually doing good to protect wild life. Every time China does something, regardless of good or bad, people like you go into action to slander. Shame
@Sheikh Yerbouti lmao, as if all extinct species live in China.
@Sheikh Yerbouti so I said as if. you are funny.
@@jdsce nobody else eats pangolins or imports more ivory than china
You would think that the rhino horn items would go up in value when China tried to cut it off. It would be more rare since there's less on the market.
I wish these things where in the country i live in i have alot of antiek
I didn’t realise they had an American version of this program I thought it was only here in the UK
Yes, it had been around since the 90s.
autistic tech girl 1990 It airs on PBS.
But it is not still being produced, is it? The show cost so much to produce, to take these experts around the country, it couldn’t afford itself. I loved the show and its publication newsletter. Both went away and I’m still sad about it. Made everyone think we might just have one of those paintings or Knick knacks hidden in our cupboards or attics!
@@nevershutup684 It is still being produced here in America.
Bast: is it on tv? Where do I find it?
I have a gameboy advance pikachu limited edition, anyone knows the price I could get??
blakris between $40 and $1,000,000
Watched this show once and a young girl had 12 African masks she had brought in to have checked. The appraiser indicated the value was one million. She naturally was all excited and said one mill for all these masks? The appraiser said no, one mill per mask....12 mill total. At the end of the show she was in front of her masks and said they were for sale and she would give a great price!
Wow what kind of masks from Africa are worth 1 million each?
@@BGRUBBIN Beats me. This was a long time ago. Sure would like to know if she sold them or not!
Unless they were made of solid gold, I doubt they'd be worth anywhere near 1 mil each.....
"Knick knack...pantload of greenbacks" what fun words all in one sentence 😂
Had tickets to Roadshow, my bucket list, when COVID hit and it was cancelled
Awe. Claire. I hope you have another chance to go. The COVID 19 messed so, many things up.
