It’s kinda ironic that her situation turned out this way because I used to wish I had her family and her life when I was a kid. Now time has revealed the reality of her situation, I see how much we really have in common. I always thought she had the perfect life and family.

Why do families do this to each other? Its so upsetting for me because my family is also wack full of assault and abuse while also making themselves out to be the good ones while the victims are constantly vilified. It's a hurt in my heart I don't know how to heal from. Britney is so incredibly strong. She has an incredible will to live.
I understand what you may be saying. They always talk shit about you and you’re known as the “bad one”. Little do people know, they abuse(d) you. It takes a lot to heal from, and it’s also ok if it takes decades . It’s also up to you to decide whether or not to keep them in your life, cut them off, and lessen the communication with them. Do what’s best FOR YOU. Family isn’t always through blood. You matter. You are worth wayyy more than how your abusers treat you.

You’d think that your family would be a safe space but a lot of the time they aren’t. Society and a lot of cultures preach about how family is above all and that no matter what you have to forgive family. This type of mindset is why abuse happens so much and is always brushed under the rug. To these people it’s a free pass to treat their families however they want to and that they won’t have to face many consequences because “family is forever.”
Thankfully the younger generation is getting away from that mindset so abuse isn’t going to be as tolerated as before.
Good question. Family should be your safe space even if you don't agree on everything. Unhealthy families is our #1 problem. Don't feel guilty for saving yourself. Break the cycle for the next generation.

I fully can relate to having a toxic family and going no contact was the best thing I've ever done. I really hope she cuts them out of her life for some much needed peace and healing. I hope she does the Oprah interview,files lawsuits against them, and let's everyone know the truth. I just feel so bad for Britney. She’s been so used by literally everyone in her life. Her family is a sack of leeches. Seriously NONE of them would have anything without Britney’s success. Let’s not forget the interview back in 2002/2003 where the interviewer asked about how she and her mom had such a great relationship. The interviewer went on to ask how her mom has been with all the recent turmoil (ie the break up with Justin and moving on from that, the paparazzi flurry, etc) Britney literally tried to save face by saying her mom was amazing but she broke down crying in the middle of her comments. Lynne spears wasn’t shit either. She lucked up on a talented child and pimped her out for years, all while reaping the benefits of her daughter’s success. Britney’s family has a special place in hell as far as I’m concerned.

I cannot imagine the feelings of pain and betrayal she feels by her family. They all acted like they had her best interest at heart when in reality they all wanted control of her money. Her parents let the money get to their heads and her sister is jealous of her and always has been. She should love, support and encourage her throughout the years....ESPECIALLY when she would've never had a career herself if Britney hadn't been famous. "More money more problems" is true most of the time unfortunately. If I were Britney, I wouldn't have crap to do with my family...I'd focus on my FREEDOM, do whatever the heck I wanted to do, focus on my kids and husband, career....wouldn't give her parents/sister the time of day.

I applaud Britney for being strong enough to cut off her toxic family and live her life. She is an inspiration to me. I decided to cut off my father and most of my family. Im only close with my grandmother. My father wasn’t in my life at all and he treated me like I wasn’t a priority in my life. My other family members have made disturbing comments about me after I was assaulted and my mom was abusive to me when I was a teenager. I still love my mom but I’m still traumatized by what she did in the past. It’s time I move on and live my life.
Move on and move up, baby. Parent the inner child that was neglected and abused, by making the best decisions for yourself and your future. Nurture and grow that inner child with kindness and shake off the past pain by thriving. I wish you the best. I’ve been there. Puts me in mind of a line of thought I read from an obviously narcissistic character - the character looks at the DJ table and muses that "only a tin ear and a complete lack of talent stood between him and a future at the (DJ) tables". A lot of these folks seem to forget that it's kind of pointless having music/dance aspirations if you have no talent in the relevant music and/or dance. And it's always music/dance with these guys (maybe because the practice of that isn't straightforward and yet these talents aren't consistently vastly underestimated the way gymnastics frequently is)
