I'm an avid Grey Knights fan and I also collect their models and play their faction in the 40k tabletop. I also REALLY like GK lore. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a ton of lore videos for the GK. The ones I did fine I've often already seen where they covered the lore very similarly, so it was info I already heard. This video contains a lot of new lore that I didn't know about the GK! For example, I've never heard of the Knights Errant precursor faction to the GK. Other than the content, I enjoy your narration abilities. You speak very clearly and pleasantly and I enjoy listening to your dialect and accent (I'm an American, so your accent sounds "exotic" and interesting from my perspective! XD). Thank you for this video!
I wonder how long it takes the engravers and master metal crafters to add all that detail to the armor ? It must take a small army decades to finish each piece !
Nah, they sit on the shelf with the Custodians fine the way they are. Primaris marines already commented on this fact when working with the grey knights. They were all huddled in a corner of the ship getting ready for battle with a 'GrEY KNIGHTS ONLY' sign basically. Primes were like "Brother, did you notice that there are NO PRIMARIS in their number?" "Yeah.. odd" Source: Guilliman's plague war trilogy.
A wonderful listen on my way to see friends. I recently got a GK army 3d printed and the lore really helps immerse myself in the Grey Knights beyond models in a table. At this point I wish their was more novels on GK.

On the whole Fulgrim painting retcon destroying any potential redemption arc- I'm kind of 50/50 on it. On the one hand, Fulgrim being stuck in a trap where the only way to break free was to let himself be corrupted would actually be a cruelly genius move on Slaanesh's part. Nurgle had to pull something similar to get his hooks into Mortarion after all. On the other hand, there are one or two plot threads floating around that might still allow for it. That untainted clone of Fulgrim made by Fabious Bile for one. Said clone started to express regret over the Heresy and wanting to make up with Emps, so Bile trapped it in a stasis field and traded it to Trazyn the Infinite for a huge stash of the Emperor's Children geneseed from the Great Crusade the collector had, "acquired", in his exploits. Also remember that a massive amount of Trazy's exhibits got let out of stasis when that bell got weird. If GW were so inclined and had a semi-competent writer behind it, (unlikely, yes, but not impossible), they could say that Clonegrim got out of his stasis field when this happened and somehow made a passable dummy to take his place to fool whatever drones were doing inventory right after wards and has since been trying to get back to Imperial space. Hell, they could even say that some portion of the original Fulgrim's uncorupted soul escaped that painting and is inhabiting Clonegrim, that's why it seems to have at least some of the original's memories.

Lord Arch let the Emperor in his grace continue to bless you for this effort. It is what I was waiting for years now. THANK YOU SO MUCH. F..K YEAH.
Arch, you forgot their most ancient battle cry, “Bustin makes me feel good!”.
Ah the second most plot armory chapter in 40k after the space Spartans
AT least they have psychic powers and ancient Dark Age crap to explain themsleves, unlike a certain chapter of Roman Blueberries.
Well, either of them are full of bull.
I’m okay with plot armor protecting my boyz
The Adeptus Custodes would like to petition for some plot armor back. We lost 1/5 of the lot os us to some bloodletters....very embarrassing.
True. 40k is full of plot armor. Because it makes more money than proper storytelling. Gw knows this very well.
Matt Ward please come back. At least your overpowered nonsense was just supposed to be cool instead of being a cynical move to make all Space Marine players' armies obsolete so that they re-buy them!
Arch are you in danger? You said you would never do this, blink twice if your being held hostage!
Love these things Arch. I'm glad you still do this for the fans despite the company's crappy behavior.
some thoughts - for psybolts, don't forget the short story where they are also bleesed in the blood of innocents to get them that extra oomph.
If you do a follow up video on the grey knights, please keep in mind Justicar Anval Thawn. That guy won me a tournament. Just wanted his legend to continue :P
39:30 : "Radius..... Yesssssss" LMAO, Arch. Was perfect!
Imperial Citizen sees* a Grey Knight
Grey Knight: You have seen too much!
Also Grey Knight: "So you have chosen death... 😤"
The Grey Knights, the reason why I started this hobby. The Grey Knights, some of the best stories in the lore and yet, so completely under represented on the table top. These marines could be put in any story role from horror to detective.
Ahhh yes.... another hour long video for me to watch 20 times over, perfect.
GAWD DAAAAMN
That's a 1 hour + video
Arch - make more of these!!! I use these to do my cardio - it's amazing how quick an hour can go by when it's you.
"Have you ever eaten... A tangerine? 🍊"
To be fair, in the Siege of the Fenris system, the Grey Knights were working with the Space Wolves and the Dark Angels were tricked by a Changeling all Balthazar Gelt style.
Wait what ? I don't get the ref ( i know who balty is)
@@strangerlucky5753 End Times lore. Balthazar Gelt in Warhammer Fantasy was tricked into using Necromancy by a Chaos Changeling, marking him as a heretic and causing the Great Bastion against Chaos to gradually fail as the Cult of Sigmar turned from Gelt's creation.
The Emperor definitely protects! Makes my soul glad to hear more lore telling.
Still waiting for the video on the months of shame. The sight of Logan Grimnar curb stomping an army of grey knight terminators near single handily is quite possibly the most satisfying thing I’ve ever heard. And I would love Arch’s take on the event.
That would be interesting
It was lame. Space wolves are lame. Even bjorn thinks they are lame.
BY THE EMPEROR.
PRAISE THE ARCH, FOR IT IS GREAT AND GOOD!
Imagine if the space wolves were declared traitors to the imperium. That would be fucking weird. Obviously the space wolves would still fight for the humanity and the emperor discreetly. I'm also sure multiple space marine chapters would disagree with it and join the space wolves.
There is a reason the inqistion prefer to keep this quiet.
Space wolves have a lot of pull.
Declaring them traitiors without losing vast amount of space marine chapters is difficult.
Same thing with most founding chapters.
It is going to take something so heretical that even there fellow space marines would hate them before you can declare a founding chapter traitors.
@@malaficus Nah they'd intend to keep it quiet to not break the morale of imperium... like with blood angels
I have never clicked on anything faster, thank you Arch, my merciful lord for speaking the word of my favorite space marine legion!
Great video, good job, once again ARCH beat the GW AGAIN, thanks ARCH. Can you talk about the ships in 40k? How big are they, how much people can even fit in them, how fast they can go, how much firepower they can wield, ranging for the Empire of man, elder, necroms, tyrinds, to the demons, hell even the orcs. Ectra, ectra, ectra, ectrahh, ectrahh, you got the point. Can you please talk about this? On next content?

Kaldo Draigo; "A wizard NEVER reveals his secrets!"
Great Video, please do one on Imperial Commisars, I would like to know how their command structure intersects with the Astra Militarum's, who can they take orders from, what's the process in which they can take command from an Imperial Guard officer, etc
You seriously make my life better with these lore videos! The dissecting is immaculate👌
The Curse of the Ward is here
Damn it, you beat me to it
hey now, your Armageddon series are great. i still go back and listen to them every now and then
Now we wait impatiently for the Kaldor 'Coke-beard' Draigo video.
M-Master Kaldor?

Warp Dust is a hell of a drug.
Arch in his Titan video: I don’t think I’ll make a Gray Knights video!
Arch now:
Yep well with the primaries becoming more and more of a thing it's kind of like the Star wars thing where the prequels really that bad now that you have something to compare it to lol
This was awesome, more lore on the white scars would be awesome as well as they seem to involved in a lot of lore with other videos you do
Man I missed those massive lore vids . thank u for ur time and effort and awesome narration. Respect from Nehekhara.
Don't fustigate yourself so much Arch. The war for Armageddon serie is still great to listen to this day (well I listen to it last month but the point still stand)
I have listened to all of his long form video series several time over and will again. I'm about to start Vracks again this weekend.
ho yes, I think I listen to Vraks something like 6 time by now, Armageddon 8 and baddab a couple time
over 1 hour, now that's the arch i know and love!
I think you've provided one of the literal ONLY examples/opinions on the Emperor not telling his sons about the Gods as an act of kindness, rather than one of stupidity, rock on Ratman.
I really like your lore videos. These are the videos I want form Arch Warhammer
I can’t even begin to explain how long I’ve waited for Arch to do a Grey Knight video
He is running out of cool big lore, small lore is fine imo but he has covered everything s+ tier when it comes to big events. Now he is left with kinda meh lore like "superer super soldiers"
Think my favorite joke here is pretending there's such a thing as too much shitting on Angron.
If 10 grey nights are the equivalent of a company of marines , just think Russ needed those silent sisters or the space wolves would have been decimated !
You reffering to the Burning of Prospero? He also had Custodes there... Who did nothing about the clear violation of Emperors orders by the Space Wolves... but thats a plot hole we rather not open.
Yes prospero would have gone very , very differently
"Only two invasions of Armageddon? True, Inquisitor. By Orks, and then by...also...Orks."
Everybody hates him, but I would rejoice at a Nailless Gladiator Angron.
But eveyone hates him because of how he behaved _with the nails in his head_ - which was most of his life (pre-demon), to be fair.
Fantastic video as usual. One of my favorite chapters and some of the coolest backstory.
Also, can’t thank Arch enough for deriding that absolute pile of horse manure known as the “ThE bEaSt ArIsEs”.
It would be interesting to see a video about the way the background has changed from edition to edition. Back in the old Realm of Chaos books, the Grey Knights were entirely non-psychic for example.
"Enough shitting on Angron, for the time being." No
Arch does some of the best 40K lore videos on the internet
Yey - something to listen to whilst I paint some. Thanks Arch 🙂
...so TTS' Mini-Magnus is actually based on something in the lore. I would never have guessed!!
I love the lore of the Grey Knights -- an invisible force keeping everyone safe 😀
The pampered hit squad of the ordo malleus
4 years, 4 years ive begged for a lore vid for the grey knights, and now its here.
Would love to hear an in depth narration of The Months of Shame, Arch-style of course.
I have been waiting more than 5 years for Custodes lore, Arch. Since you had 11k subscribers. DOOOOO EEEEEET! :)
Hey Arch, if you're ever thinking of looking into other sci-fi universe's lore again, maybe you should do a video on the Xeelee Sequence books? If only because it's a sci-fi universe that is even more grimdark and extreme in scale then WH40K, except it's all backed by hard sci-fi rather then space fantasy. At least you'll be able to say "See? The Imperium isn't so bad after all!"
I always love a new Arch lore video, every view feels like tasting a good year in wine and the lore videos age as such. Personal favourite is the Vraks series but hope Arch and anyone who sees this a healthy day
The finest the imperium has to offer unless they’re facing Logan grimnar
and unless the Custodes show up without their plot armor. :( we custodes need more plot armor.
For the emperor of mankind that arch are able to tell us about the grey nights for over an hour.
Arch, Not just the painting for Fulgrim: remember the "Perfect" clone story..
Better put that in stasis. LOL
He's stuck in a loop killing his clone. when he's in his right mind chaos free he cries over what he has done. so much to work with GW... yet they let it fall to the floor every fucking time.
This devistated me. The Fulgrim soul in the painting found by loyal clone Fulgrim.....and somehow reabsorbed into him....🥲 the Phoenix could have risen from the ashes. And fought the Daemon Primarch.
@@HorusLupercal90 Much as we talk about wanting a redemption arc to balance the universe we'll need a 'good guy' falling to being a traitor or stumble into chaos *cough*Lion'el*cough* ... second thought maybe its best to let sleeping dogs lie. lol
I love these long form videos on the in depth lore of specific formations, would love a one of these videos on a chaos warband
Woo-hoo, return to some long form stuff.
I must renew my request for a mini series on the chaos gods, it'll fill a hole in the channel.
Been waiting for you to do a lore video on the grey knights!
I'm here wondering: is he going to complain about Matt Ward
Listening to these helps me sleep. But then I have to go back and listen to them again … and again … and again
I like the Grey knights but I hate the dreadknight. When did GW decide to steal an idea from Gundam advance of Zeta TR6 Woundwort configurations.
Hello!
This is my first time stopping in to your channel. Thank you for making this awesome video!
I think a good April fools joke. Would be Arch uploading a WH lore video but it's Kyle instead of Arch reading off the lore.
Just wanted some 40k lore in an acid and intelligently sharp flavour and cadence.
*Arch video shows up and does little dance before hitting play*
I wonder how long it takes the engravers and master metal crafters to add all that detail to the armor ?
It must take a small army decades to finish each piece !
Thanks Arch for covering the Grey Knights. It's been done before... But not by Arch. I appreciate your personality and delivery over others'.
You know, I get the strangest impression that Arch may not be a fan of the war of the beast books. Anyone else picking up that vibe?
That's because he's not he's told us this lol
Ah, yes ideal length of video for my evening bath. So relaxing!
praise the algorythym. What I missed is the history when the GK became the Ordo Malleus chamber militians.
For Arch, The Emperor and the algorythm
Some of the last Astartes yet to be Primaris'd. That already makes them warriors of quality.
Nah, they sit on the shelf with the Custodians fine the way they are. Primaris marines already commented on this fact when working with the grey knights. They were all huddled in a corner of the ship getting ready for battle with a 'GrEY KNIGHTS ONLY' sign basically. Primes were like "Brother, did you notice that there are NO PRIMARIS in their number?" "Yeah.. odd"
Source: Guilliman's plague war trilogy.
They were primaris before it was cool.
One of first Warhammer books I read when I was younger was greyknight omnibus. It's influenced my Warhammer love ever since if you can tell
God Emperor bless the grey knights.
A wonderful listen on my way to see friends. I recently got a GK army 3d printed and the lore really helps immerse myself in the Grey Knights beyond models in a table. At this point I wish their was more novels on GK.
Love your style of portraying this deep universe Arch :)
I have to ask though, why does a chapter made entirely from librarian level psykers even bother with a librarius?
Because when all of your boys are on the level of a normal librarian, the guys who are expected to specialize in that shit have to be even better to justify their job titles
@@barbatosmcmurderton4209 idk seems like another “super duper space marines” like primaris
@@balistak6225 Nah this is big brain magic powers
Glory to lord Arch the Blondie, the holy algorithm and The Grey Knights.
Question: how well do they respond to blanks?
I'm curious for a story I'm working on.
Going by the book "watchers of the throne: the emperor's legion". Blanks like the sisters of silence nerf their psychic powers and slow them down a bit.
At least that's how I remember it.
@@LethargicGM I could already guess that part, I'm talking about how they would react; Would they horrified that blanks exist or would they see blanks as the invaluable recourse they(blanks) are?
@@mikemerchant9242 I seem to recall they do work together time to time with most horrid enemies knights cant handle by them selfs, or least handle transport. Essentially sisters are primary way to keep A class psychers at bay, while grayknights are following closely, ready to turn the ship into slag, and to be ou shit hit the fan insurance option.
@@mikemerchant9242 As powerful psykers, they would be horrified, disgusted, etc. by the abominations and likely couldn't handle being near them.
As disciplined soldiers, they would see the blanks as the powerful tool against enemies connected to the warp that they are.
Ordo Drago here.
We will provide the HAMS!!!
This is going to be good! The censorship marines!
