    2016 OG owner here. I would have liked you talked about what goes wrong on these cars. The water pump, thermostat, wheel bearings/hub assemblies, brake rotors rusting out like crazy.. there is SO much that can go wrong with these things and it sucks that channels like yours just address only the good while completely ignoring the bad and the ugly.
    They are NOT cheap to fix and maintain - even for simple things like cooling system bits and pieces - and any example with around 80k miles on it will need a HEAP of work if you're buying used.

    OG M2 owner here, pre LCI, love it.
    The last true M car, still quite small, still not too heavy, not stupid amounts of power just enough so that you can exploit it all on a road.
    Just a raw, str8 6 front engine'd RWD sports coupe.

    • @ibrahimelmi210
      @ibrahimelmi210 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      true M car with the same engine as a 235i? lol a new m240i is better. b58 over n55 any day of the week.

    • @DjNikGnashers
      @DjNikGnashers 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@ibrahimelmi210 I didn't say the N55 was better than the B58 did I ?
      I owned an M140i which I took from standard to 455bhp/634nm, and the B58 is a brilliant engine, the best modern BMW 6 in my opinion. No wonder it is gaining a reputation as the new 2JZ.
      The N55 in the OG M2 is not the same as the M135i/M235i, because it has forged internal parts, and other improvements, and if you worked in the motor trade for as long as myself, you might know this.
      I would prefer the B58 in my M2, but the N55 is still a great engine and very reliable, just not as tuneable as the B58. That doesn't matter to me, because I have a low mileage m2 which I am keeping standard.
      so I take your 'lol' and I throw it back at you, and then PMSL at your lack of knowledge and then trying to 'educate' somebody on the internet who obviously knows a LOT more than you do about the subject you are trying to preach son.

    • @ibrahimelmi210
      @ibrahimelmi210 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      im aware of the upgrades to the n55 but if it was a different engine it wouldnt be called an n55. im not arguing with you or trying to teach you anything. like you said the b58 is faster that is a fact. but I just dont agree with your opinion (subjective) that its the last true M car when the S55 and S58 M2s exist. If anything the N55 M2 is the odd one out. dont know why you took it personal. even bmw changed the m2 to have an s55. @@DjNikGnashers

    • @DjNikGnashers
      @DjNikGnashers 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@ibrahimelmi210 Not personal at all, I felt you needed to be corrected for your lack of knowledge by stating the S55 was a better engine than the B58, that is all.
      My statement was that the M2 was in my opinion, the last true M car. Not necessarily the OG M2, simply the M2 F87 of any model.
      I think the new G87 has gone too far, it is a very fast, and capable car, and still RWD, but too heavy, too refined, and too 'digital'.
      The F87 was still a raw and quite analogue machine.
      The M4, M5 etc, are just too big and heavy to be M cars, when you consider the original M car intentions, ie to be faster, lighter, more race/track ready versions of standard models.
      I don't believe any of the 2+ ton SUV's should have M car designations, it has devalued the M car name, and now is basically just a trim level.

    • @xxjoanna2608
      @xxjoanna2608 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i think you got no clue about cars. the n55b30 in the m2 is not even close to being the same as in the m135i. the only reason bmw changed the m2 to the s55 was because if emissions. in europe the n55 wasnt allowed anymore because they had to add the opf. the n55 in the m2 and the s55 are nearly the same engines. even though the s55 has nearly 50 hp and 100mn more the 0-100 100-200 times are nearly the same. the only thing that is better in the m2c is the seats and the m buttons. sound wise the n55 is miles head of the s55. thats why i bought the og one. @@ibrahimelmi210

    I‘ve had a manual OG M2. I seriously think bang for the buck this is amazing. Cool wide body car, fantastic looks, wonderful sound, plenty powerful, RWD with limited slip differential and tip top suspension. Oh, and it‘s a reliable platform too. Only reason not to get it is if you‘re looking for massive power gains.

    I a few months ago bought a stock 2018 m2 LCI 6spd manual full loaded. I chose this over the comp because i cant stand the sound of the s55 and if i did an s55 it would be a big single turbo conversion with crankhub upgrade and that alone is way to expensive before even making power. People underestimate the n55b. Mine now makes 535 whp on 93 and 675 whp on e50 with a flex fuel system. I did pure 750 turbo, HPFP and LPFP, new sparks and coils, VRSF FMIC, VRSF DP, M performance exhaust, charge pipe, inlet pipe, s55 carbon sturt and aluminum brace, tuner motorsport carbon fiber intake and a few clean up mods such as suveneer bmw gts hood and some carbon side skirts , rear diffuser and m2cs carbone fiber front lip, m4 front seats with reupholster leather and alcantara with blue stitching m2 head rest illuminated badge from bmw. Its been the most balanced car ive owned and sounds incredible and is absolutely fast. People sleep on the OG and get woke real quick. But my car is built for canyons, track (non drag), and occasional hwy fun. Someone will always be faster but does their actual driving skill out match you is the question. I will keep this car for more than a lifetime as it is very special.

    I have an OG M2, the ONLY thing I wish the F87 M2s had is a high transmission tunnel (to make it feel like more of a cacoon - like traditional sports coupes, which the new M2 has). Apart from that things I prefer from the LCI which I wish mine had (but all doable), the LCI rear lights, CarPlay, and the black trim instead of chrome around kidney grills and side gills. And the front seats.
    But all upgradable.

    As an ex-owner of 2 manual M235i’s at stage 1, I was never really impressed by the M2’s performance but the looks in my opinion … The F87 M2 is the most beautiful car BMW has ever made.
    With all the rage about the B58’s these days , most missed the window of the magical N55 post 2014. It seems to be fading now and it had its time but was by no means any slouch.
    At stage 1 I managed 330 whp with a catless downpipe twice , both did 100 - 200 in well under 10 seconds - that’s stock F87 M2 Competition times.
    A pre-owned M235i/M240i is all you need, well, until you can afford the 👑 S58.
    I patiently await my turn for G87 manual in white 🎉.

      tbh gen 1 b58 is great but S55 is in some ways better. if the m2 had an s55 i would be very happy with it. but since it doesnt its a let down like you say. but the new gen 2 b58 is defintely on par or better than an s55 so imo the new m240xi is a better buy than an f87 for the same price

      @@ibrahimelmi210 I steered very clear from the S55 because of the notorious crank hub issues pre-owned. Tbh my N55’s performance more than matched the S55 on stage 1 vs stock, I had loads of fun with them on the road and they would always be sour afterward with the results 🤓. Don’t confuse me though, if I could have afforded the ///M (fit the bill for Maintainence) I would have got one 👍🏼.
      But look, it was great for what it was, if they were launched in x drive as well back then the F80/82/87 ///M’s would have also been in the 10’s easily without too much work.
      With regards to the M2 not having an S55 - correct but the F87 M2 Competition did - also a great car but again not much faster in a straight line vs an M235/240i 💭
      Note this is coming from me , an average petrolhead that’s been around for a while and only needs a car that gives great performance in a straight line and sometimes twisties - I don’t track or drag race my cars - rolling on the highway 🛣️ is cool 👌🏼.
      Bang 💥 for buck all depends on your pocket.
      Today : M235i ~ $20K
      M240i ~ $30K
      G 20. M340i ~ $45K
      G42. M240i ~ $50K
      The F series could still give you the same or better performance with not much spent on it for half the price if you’re on a budget.
      Also to the younger crowd on a lower end budget wanting your first BMW i6 - don’t discount the N55 , an M235/135/335i is still a great car if you find one in good nick with full service history at a dealer etc etc. change the oil every 5000 km , change the turbo and induction piping to carbon/ aluminium and it will take care of you. A catless downpipe and good tune is all the power you need (~400HP).
      But agreed 👍🏼, if it’s in your budget (also if it breaks - warranties are void with mods - the internet guys never tell you that 😩) the new B58 XDrive combos are great value for money.
      The S58’s are exorbitantly expensive right now 😅, I’ll have to wait.

    I chose the M2 OG LCI (2018) over the Competition model for a straightforward reason: the OG embodied BMW's intended vision for the M2 in terms of its driving dynamics and overall experience, while the Competition felt more like an afterthought (a detuned M4). This might explain BMW's decision to facelift the original M2. Also, it's noteworthy that BMW had to replace the N55 engine with the S55 in the M2 to comply with the then-new emission standards. Although I've sold my M2, when it's time to purchase another, I'll still opt for the OG M2, possibly a CS model due to its exclusivity and raw character.

    • @kratos9223
      @kratos9223 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

       @WaseemKhan-iu4bh Not when it's stock. I'm reluctant to talk about drag times when it comes to M cars, but let's make a brief analysis based on my verified findings on 'Ze Perfs': In the 1/4 mile, the M2 DCT OG clocks in at 12.7 seconds, whereas the M2 DCT Comp is slightly quicker at 12.5 seconds. Over 1 kilometer, the M2 OG records a time of 23.1 seconds, against the M2 Comp's 22.7 seconds. Personally, I don't think a 0.2 second difference in the 1/4 mile and a 0.4 second difference over a KILOMETER puts them in different leagues. In stock form, the OG's peaky low-down torque is what convinced me, the stock Comp felt too linear. Personally, I've never felt the need for more power so modding it was never an option especially since the car was still under warranty. Besides, it's worth noting that the suspension components in the OG LCI are identical to those in the Comp model, perhaps minor differences like the steering rack, carbon fibre strut brace, etc. They both share the same DCT box and M diff.

That should get you to mid/upper 400's and then if you run ethanol, closer to 500. This will run you around $4500ish excluding labor.
