- Well, collectors... Here we are again!
Last week was chock full of videos, but the content train is about to pull out of the station yet again, and right on time. This episode of DtC marks a return to the original formula; a common or garden variety unboxing video, with the usual old habits that haven't died just yet.
BOILERPLA... ER, GENERAL INFO:
I'd like to thank each and every one of you who take the time to watch DtC, and am very grateful to everyone who takes even more time out of their day to comment. In a perfect world Tom or Ob would be able to engage with everyone in the comment section, but alas the world is far from perfect. Tom doesn't know how (and refuses to learn) and Ob is a Luddite who is very skeptical of technology.
FAQ & A:
Q: I have a burning question about something in the video! What should I do?!
A: An email sent directly to Tom is the best way to get your question answered, because while he most definitely reads each and every one of your comments, he hasn't quite gotten the hang of replying to them in the comment section, and is not likely to in the foreseeable future. Or ever. Seriously, he still calls TH-cam "the U-TOOBZ". Just email him, srsly.
Tom's personal email is: herrwittmann@gmail.com
You can also call him if you prefer (856-866-8733) between the hours of 9 AM and 4 PM, EST. This may be slightly more difficult because he's forever running around away from his desk, but it's worth a shot.
Q: I have an amusing anecdote, scathing criticism, or heartfelt compliment that I deeply need to express and I require / demand / long for a personalized response! What should I do?
A: See "A" above.
Again, Tom's email is: herrwittmann@gmail.com

The whole charm of the show is that it’s not contrived or overdone. Keep doing it the way you’ve been doing it! Great show again guys!
I greatly appreciate the effort put into these videos. Before coming upon your channel I knew nothing about edged weapon collecting. Keep up the great work!
I think you’re both great guys. With a fantastic formula. It’s only jealousy. You men carry on regardless.
Great fun video. I love seeing what's inside all those boxes!!
Long time watcher 1st time commenter. I love watching you guys. When I was younger I would go-to a monthly Houston gun collectors meeting with my mentor, who was an extremely well respected member of the military surplus collecting community. I recall him speaking highly of Mr Whittmann on more than one occasion. Anyway after these monthly meetings our group and always a few other members or guest would find ourselves in a side area of the hall we used. Some drinking bourbon, smoking cigars some drinking dark beer, eating Polish sausage and Sauerkraut while all of the older celebrities told stories of days past. I always felt honored that I was able to sit amongst these gentlemen and be a part of their group. It always gave me a unique feeling, how fortunate and lucky I was to be in their company, I know it sounds silly but when I watch you two guys it brings me back to those post meeting gatherings and I love that.
I wish both of you gentlemen long lives and good health, keep pumping out the content! Now I'm gonna go find some DiNobli's
Thank you so much, jmac. I know Tom will love this.
The dagger hanging out of the box made me laugh out loud 😅
I can't get enough of WAM video's Thanx again!! BTW Nothing wrong with Rob's camera's work! Cheers🍻
We have a C. Gustav Neeff dagger in our collection just like the one on your latest episode. Great work and have learned alot by watching.
Another great vid from the guys time to have a drink and light them up 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much.
Great items! Gratulation!
This is real man's cave.Good job fellows .
Just setting foot in the cellar gives you chest hair!
Unfortunately it comes off the top of your head.
Exelant and informative don't drink milk when your filming !!!! Remember sorry your drinking lol
I love your TH-cam channel, really appreciate you guys!
I love your vids ,have from day one! Kindest regards from England ,Ross
Thank you so much, Ross.
Awesome video as always ! Keep up the great work OB ! Always enjoyable !!!
Amazing Kriegsmarine grouping. Pisses me off and makes me sad that the families get rid of these family treasures. Also loved the big pole topper.
I also have a grouping from a 20 year old first lieutenant that was in Luft Stalag 1, which is a subcamp of Stalag Luft III in Barth, Germany. He was prisoner #2156.
One of your best yet! Really liked the Kriegsmarine grouping. Regarding the "milk" comment, lol I replied to that comment and kind of just told the guy to relax and enjoy the content. His reply was anything but "relaxed".
Wow new video so early . Amazing !! Great
that flag with the silver eagle and the square silver border is "similar " to Martin Borman's standard ...but i'm not positive ...good DTC fellas !
Pinking shears cut material in that triangular pattern. I believe it stops the edge from fraying.
Another great video. I was rather sad to see the person selling their father's naval clothing. I guess there was no one else to pass it on in the family.
Ohh helllllll yeaaaaaaa!!!!!
This is normal? 🤪😁
I was watching "D-Day WWII Battles in Color" on TV this weekend, and I was wondering if you ever watched something like this? You must go nuts seeing all the quality products walking by. 😊
I agree...MILK...with Imperial mixed in.
deslumbrante piezas del final, 👍
naval work suit is in Herring bone weave
Interesting last item. As regards the date inscribed on the dagger, may the dagger is ok, and the inscription was post dated. Just a thought.
Given how easy making very convincing inscriptions has become I think the presence of one demands a level of initial skepticism and scrutiny.
Oh guys, that was a joke about the milk. No need to declare a national emergency.
Another awesome vid guys, My only wish is that you guys would disassemble the ss and other daggers so we can see what to look for. Of course all fakes would be assembled with locktite making that difficult but not impossible.
I'll ask Tom about this.
What a legend
German World War II uniforms are good to have in a collection of German World War II collecting I always wanted to own a German World War II uniform to start a German World War II collection
So as for the engraved Sa they definitely made them during the period?
I’ll have to ask Tom and I’ll post back.
Thank you I have one.
DTC without whiskey and cigars, it's just wrong. In a world full of woke and PC, it's a breath of fresh air.
🍻🇨🇦
As i sit here watching, smoking and drinking, after a grueling 20 hrs of painting my hotrod...i notice i have sanded my finger nails down funny haha
20 hours?!
@@WittmannAntiqueMilitaria 2 days lol
The SA dagger is supposed to belong to the German ambassador to Hungary 1940-44 . He became an obergruppenfuhrer . The inscription could have been gotten afterwards ? 😊
Could it be a belated gift that was given the year they put the dagger in production and then engraved it for the event that occurred prior. In the early SA many were jocking for a favored position and favor among the ranking. And to gain this favor the individual presented the belated birthday gift to his intended benefactor for such positioning. Though not a common practice but in this new organization at the time it was done in many ways. I seem to remember a conversation with an individual when I was station in Germany that sort of mentioned this offhanded some years back as her (she represented Meinz when Hitler toured and presented a bouquet of flowers on behave of her city) brother had done something similar to get his party affiliation in the Reich. Bribery in this way was very common means to gain that favor among the ranked. And gifting was the most legitimate way to do it in the open without drawing attention to the intended outcome. This relationship also occurred because of family distance in some cases and the presenter was explained that due to this and his chance meeting presented the opportunity to gift this way belated to the event. The daggers embellishment though it only appears as Make up on a pig was not to extravagant but enough to show his intention was earnest.
That’s right Mr Whittman “what’s the big deal!!!”… we’ll said sir
There was no February 29th in 1933
Morning Mr Whitman and Rob. I can't believe that a viewer has said that silly childhood comment about Robs camera work and saying he should drink milk and not alcohol. It really winds me up how pathetic the comments like that are said. What sad lives these people must lead. Why do they bother watching, if they have to do this. Is there a way you can stop or block them from your channel. Your show is brilliant and very educational for the people who watch. Anyway fellas another great show. All the best from Phillip Colley in the UK.
Thank you, Phillip. Truly.
its a joke but okay lol
Geee, maybe You should drink some milk and chill out. I’m pretty sure that the guy’s comment was meant as a joke, maybe not a brilliant one but what’s a lot worse is people like you immediately starting to hyperventilate and calling for blocking and banning others even if it’s not of their business. Tom and Rob are surely capable of handling that on their own
Wind your neck in you mug, I was stating what I thought, like everyone else has their opinions.
Felton did a you tube video on standards and the red flag and silver eagle looks like Bormans
❤❤❤nice day to All Gruß Felix From Düsseldorf
Please don't change a thing! If people don't like what you are doing they can stop paying to watch you.... Oh I forgot, you do this for free!🤣
Cudnt the 1933 be correct if it was wen he entered the SA?
Привет из Израиля
I would not buy any "III. Reich" weapon with personalized engraved dedication or other "personal belongings". Most of it is fake or some kind of "upgraded". And some of those fakes have seen very much collections over the years. Only buy what you know! 😊
I tend to agree. I’m always immediately skeptical of the impressive names that pop up, and the more impressive they are, the more fishy they look.
@@WittmannAntiqueMilitaria Yes. The greedyness of collectors and some dealers makes It very easy for guys with criminal energy and tslent. In Germany we say "greed eats brain". :-)
Februari 29 1933 doesn't exists!!!
Yes, that was yet another nail in the coffin.
Funny
Looks like a genuine post-February 1934 production dagger that somebody "spiced up" a little sometime post-war to make an extra buck on an otherwise plain SA piece.
Lots of the facts and things not adding up only shows that the engraving was forged quite early after the war when not everybody had access to all the trivia and info that we know today. That would explain the inconsistencies.
😀
Thanks for all the nice video's. ❤
Wij in Nederland zeggen:
Ze motten niet zeiken die azijnpissers. Zeker teveel azijn gedronken in hun leven. 🖕
Heerlijk roken en drinken, geniet ervan! ❤❤
It’s our pleasure!
Hello Tom and Ob. the guy that tried to trash you is obviously a very unhappy soul. I for one love your posts and the fact that your expertise is not in film production is well understood and accepted, and whats important is the way you present yourselves and the information you have which far outways any film production weaknesses. These skills are for other people and its completely irrelevant in the subject matter. Keep doing it and thats an order, failure to comply will result in you being shot !!!!!! 😃😃😃😃
Nonsens! You have to drink way more, to get a steady hand!
So early
I’m so early, is this normal?
It is a bit earlier than normal; my apologies. I had some things to do this morning and the alternative would have been to post it tonight.
