Can you sell and buy crypto thru the wallet or if I want to sell I have to send it back to the exchange? Also, I have a few obscure cryptos...is the wallet also able to accommodate those? Thanks!
It’s personal preference. Just know essentially it’s not really a cold storage device since the seed is generated on a phone with internet connection. Make sure you keep that seed phrase safe never store it online.
You are not able to do that meaning that if you try the seed phrase on ledger it won’t ever show the coins if you try to import back into ledger. wiki.kaspa.org/en/wallet go to seed phrase compatibility section for more info
I’ve just ordered a 3 card set to replace a Ledger Nano X. Planning to set them up with a seed phrase and the reason being is that if anything happens to Tangem, there’s no way of interacting with the cards to access your funds. With a seed phrase, you’re protected against the company disappearing.
The code is open source so you can always download the app via an android apk on GitHub. It can be pulled but if you have an android you can always download the app. But that is worse case scenario which i don’t see that happening now. For extra protection i turn off automatic updates of the app.
@@KaspaSilver valid points but I would personally appreciate the peace of mind knowing I have my own keys stored in a safe place, and not relying on a single point of access disappearing for whatever reason. I understand that Tangem as a product is designed to remove the need for seed phrase use, but like I said if their app vanishes or the GitHub source code goes bye-bye, you've lost access to your assets.
There can be a supply chain attack on tangem app, just like recently happened on ledger with angle drainer and since the tangem card doesn't have a screen, the drainer can cause the user to sign a coin transfer of all coins instead of the legit transaction the user was trying to send. Relevant for all screen-less devices, not just tangem card.
That also relates more to people who are connecting their wallets to dapps. I highly discourage messing with that stuff and use tangem for holding long term.
Tangem is just an interface to read and interact with your crypto that is stored on the blockchain. The chips on all three cards have the same key to control those funds. Tangem is simply remembering which coins you allowed to be viewed when you scan the card that is tied to that specific key.
In the video, he accessed 1 Tangem card at :22:04 to put Kaspa on the Tangem card; I have the same question as Patrick: How do Tangem cards 2 and 3 get loaded with my cryptocurrency purchases?
Just found out the tangem app won't work with my phone. So glad I had not yet finalized my order. I have an android trac phone. Can you suggest a 2nd option after tangem? Thanks!
I already set up 3 cards in one box ( one wallet ) for myself. However, I did ordered another three cards because I want set up another wallet and save some Kaspa for my son. So, when I receive the second one, should I do to set up beginning same the first one? or I should add new wallet for my son from my wallet account? Thanks.
I purchased the 3-pack. So, are all three cards the same? If I lose one or if one breaks, can I replace it with one of the two spares? Or are all three cards for different wallets? I saw your vid…but I was a little confused.
You are probably better off buying btc directly on an exchange that lets your withdraw it to your wallet. Just know that btc fees can sometimes be high so you might want to wait until they get cheaper to at least around a $1
I think so. I have not tried it though I personally don’t think a seed phrase is good with Tangem. If you really want a seed phrase I would use another cold storage device.
Dude, Your phone does not have private keys. No one can use it without the card. If you have lost your phone, you just have to download the app on another phone and use the backup card to recover your coins
Tangem maybe be simple and easy BUT What’s up with these rent fees, reserve fees and existential deposit for some of the networks? Like solana, Xrp and polkadot to store my cryptos? Others cold wallets don’t have these charges why is Tangem doing this? It’s turning me off smh
Why is nobody talking about the obvious? The fact that you can only generate one wallet address and that is the address you use for every transaction. The privacy behind that is not existent.
Yeah one of the downsides for sure. What you could do though is buy another crypto you don’t actually want and use it as a swap to get what you do want that way the coin you do want was obtained via a non identifying way.
Well the cards are fire resistant and you can also keep them in a fireproof safe. But what if a fire happens in your house and your seed phrase is on paper it’s definitely gone unless you take the same precautions. It’s no different really and the cards are better for a fire situation. Plus if you really worried don’t keep all cards in the same location.

Chances are extremely low one would break before all 3 at once break so it’s best if you are worried to check the cards weekly. I’m not gonna risk my seed being exposed. I also don’t rely on tangem to hold all of my funds.
Surely you are selling USD. As a $COQ holder, I don't want selling pressure. I know Bitcoin is the most liquid coin, but I'm short USD, not Bitcoin. Sell your USD for a product. Simple.

I decided to go with owning seed phrase rather than storing the seed on the cards. Didn’t want to risk it in case the cards get lost or get damaged.

No the seed phrase depends on what coin you are trying to view that it might only be able to be viewed within tangem when you import it there.

Thats way too complex for the average person. Better to have a seed phrase stored safely @KaspaSilver
you can generate a seedphrase in airplane mode so its technically not created online

Yes, via swaps.
