- Thanks for watching.. In this video I share with you the new Vanquest Javelin 18 and the old Katara 16. It was hard for me to choose between these two because they are so similar. I love Vanquest gear every thing they make is so solid.

I've been rocking the Katara for a few years now. Absolutely love it. I've bought many other bags over the last few years but always find myself going back to the Kat.
This is the only video on all of TH-cam that has a comparison for these packs. Best video hands down!
Really appreciate this very thorough comparison! I currently edc a Dendrite large with the TQ-1 on the side and have an Addax-18 as my laptop bag. I've got the real itch to setup a good hiking day pack and have been between these two. I like the overall styling and some of the pockets on the Katara better, but the Javelin being a touch bigger seems to make the most sense for a day pack.
Ordered the katara Blk Multi a few days ago.. then found your video.. Obviously I made a good choice! Great content, love the channel and camera work🤜 🇺🇸 I’ll be following you for solid advice on spending my EDC$$ 😉
I pre-ordered the Javelin as my first legit edc bag in multicam black. It's SO nice. I knew as soon as I got my Vanquest EDCM Husky pouch that this company made amazing gear and it would last. I can't wait for them to crank out more designs in the future!
I'm used to an older NorthFace Recon and I also had tried to use a 5.11 All Hazards Prime bag but quickly realized it's too much capacity for edc. This smaller 18 liter back makes me organize smarter, and it feels like I'm carrying a finished puzzle on my back every day.
That Katara looks super nice too though 😎
Nice video man I’m saving up to try to get me one of these bags !! Keep up the good work bro !!!
Super detailed man, great job with the review
I would like to see a comparo between them and the Agilite Amap III backpack. Thanks for sharing. One.
Great video as always George! The Katara has been my EDC for a while now, rock solid, perfect size for most days. Glad to see you cover
It on the channel. The Javelin does look awesome though. Now you got me thinking, thanks a lot haha!
Been months since I watched this video and I’m STILL itching to snag that Javelin 😆
I’ve had the Katara for a while and it still rules but when looking for a larger bag I went with the Trident 21 because I didn’t want 2 bags in that price range that felt too similar.
I still think I made the best choice for my situation but the gear junkie in me keeps rounding back to these reviews.
Loving both packs. Great review!!
Hey George, i love your content!! I am trying to find a backpack which can fit clothes and a laptop (work/traveling) any suggestions? 👌🏼
Thanks for this video, these look great smaller EDC packs. How do tbey compare to the Nitecore BP18?
Those bags are sooooo fire didn’t even know they existed
Kinda wish they would update the katara or add like a 13l version. More skinny like hotdog not more squat like hamburger. I would like some weight shaved off. The back padding is a bit over kill 4 me. The lower front pocket doesn't really need to be 500d because ot has that slim webbing on top. It could be a light weight ripstop. The laptop sleeve could be fitted with elastic so you can cram in a bigger laptop if you want. The webbing in the sides is a bit clunky they could put that same panel on the front pocket on the sides. Just some ideas.
Epic comparison! I think I'll take the Jave, wait... The Kata... Errr BOTH!
Nothing quite beats the Katara. Fits water, a tablet, some snacks, first aid, a firearm and still some room. You could get away with a 2 day trip if you are super minimalist.
Damn, those bags are heavy for their size! These bags would last a lifetime for sure...
I wish they would release a 30 liter Katara pack
Bit new to this, loving that katara. Could anyone recommend bags with similar styles/carrying capacity to it? Just want to know what else is out there before I pull the trigger on one of these.
There is no brand out there that can compete with the vanquest brand.
Can you please review the dakine mission 25l
Haha great intro
Great review!
THey look tiny in your hands! 😂😁
No no no, you got it all wrong. When you wear two backpacks at the same time make sure you put the smaller one in the front. 🤪
That's not cool George never answers to comments !
I like the Katara a lot, but I wish they offered the Katara in a bigger liter capacity, 16l is kinda small for me
