      @@DianaGladney Thanks Diana. One of the things I have done which you suggested, is using one of the memory slots to store my desired settings. The only downside to this, is that when you recall this within mode (e.g. M1) you cannot then change or set a custom white balance? This seems strange that the white balance would be completely locked when using the memory recall functions. Do you have any method of getting around this as it's driving me nuts! 🥜

      No worries, take a breath and relax. Learning video takes time and learning your camera takes time. Find 1 reason to use it every day and get consistent with just getting familiar with it. Where the buttons are, looking at the menu. It's kind of like driving and your first time on the road, it feels like it's infinite things to constantly and equally pay attention to. After a while you're driving with your knees and eating a taco while talking on the phone lol Hopefully not, but you get my meaning.

Your video got suggested to me literally as I’m waking up here in Dubai this morning, I love how succinct you are in giving the information especially for someone like me who doesn’t like stressing to figure out the smallest details

I will be shooting a lot of daytime parks and hope ypu do more videos for this camera it's still liked by many of us. Please ,please

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear ya but here's the reality of it, it doesn't matter what camera you're specifically using because learning to use that camera is still based on the same exact principles. Whether it's a tutorial utilizing the ZV-E10 or the ZV-1, the principles remain the same when it comes to learning video.
      It's comforting, I know, when the creator you're watching is using the same camera you own, but it's not going to change the advice I give in that specific video. Plus, from the menu system and software, menu setup, and button layout is all identical from the ZV-E10 or the ZV-1. So, you're not missing out on anything, the only difference between the cameras is one can swap lenses and has a larger sensor and the other has a fixed zoom lens with a smaller sensor, that's it.
      If you plan on using your camera outdoors or indoors, learning video elements like the exposure triangle (as taught here: th-cam.com/video/yFBeH-4mWvk/w-d-xo.html) remain the same in what video principles you apply. The only difference on some things is you might enable the built-in ND filter on your ZV-1 camera at times whereas on the ZV-E10 it'd be applied to the front of the lens.
      Hope that helps clear things up a bit.

      @@DianaGladney I am glad to be here. I have been on TH-cam for one year, yet I am now looking to change things on my channel in order to expand my range. I am look at your master class video now. I once was a all male speaking channel yet I want to speak to a wider range of people. I grew by doing lots of live streams yet I am getting more in to video on demand. So your information is helping me. My question is, How to change audience without losing people who follow you now? I want to be able to sponsor products, I need a wider range of people. I hope I am making since. Again Thank you for your time.

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice!
      Well, I think the thing to recognize is there is going to be some level of attrition that occurs as people lose interest in the new direction or choose to only tap into the videos that are of interest to them.
      I think broadening the audience in a way that's tasteful to the existing community can be accomplished if you can convey how it's relevant to their existing interest. For example, a channel on building car motors only could expand to other related and associated topics easily. Now, completely transitioning to health videos all of a sudden is a drastically different shift.
      I would say revisit what you want to cover in future videos and think through how is this topic related to or associated with what your audience is already interested in currently. It's an easier path to navigate that it may appear from the outside looking in.

      It’s hard to be able to spot review a lot of video just because the volume of requests but I can suggest to you this, making your videos great takes a little time. If your A Roll quality isn’t where you want it be test different things out in short form videos. If it’s a camera thing, that takes some time to learn but use short videos to test various settings to dial it in for your environment and see why you enjoy best. Minor changes make a huge difference vs drastic settings charges.

    Hey Diana, thanks so much for this and it was super helpful. I bought because of you earlier this year but now I’m having issues with using this for taking pictures for my TH-cam thumbnail, I’ve recommended this camera to so many of my friends but I don’t want to keep using my phone to make thumbnails when I can use this. But I don’t see any video on TH-cam specifically for using it for Shots, no videos go in-depth with it

      You’re very welcome!
      You may have an automatic setting enabled. Like auto ISO (the number in the bottom right of the camera screen) might be set to auto or something.
      When that’s happening you should see which number on your camera is changing. Or if you’re in a setting like Auto on the camera, that will allow the settings to constantly change.
      If you send me a photo of your camera screen with all the icons on over on Instagram I can tell you more specifically what it is.
      I also uploaded a video going over a similar issue for another subscribers that had a similar issue, that would be super helpful for you to watch as well: Camera Settings Constantly Changing in Your Videos? | Subscriber Q&A

      Hmm...if in a 20-minute timeframe your battery died twice, something is seriously off. Even with the highest recording settings in 4k and everything the battery shouldn't die that quickly.
      I'd definitely sugging making sure you have a genuine Sony battery and not a 3rd party knockoff that "claims' it'll last just as long to make sure that's not happening.

    Im not sure why my Face and Eye selection won't turn on. It says This operation or setting not available as follows 🤔

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure all of your icons are viewable on the screen. Then, look around the screen and see what's enabled or disabled. The same stuff I have on-on my camera screen in this video is the same stuff you should see in yours. If it's not, then something else is enabled or disabled and it shouldn't be. If you're basically setting up your camera from out of the box and you follow this video your face/eye detection should be on.
      Now, lol if you did all that there's one small thing to check for which could be why you don't see it, you have Product Showcase mode enabled on your camera. When you have this enabled you will see these 4 little tick marks around the screen that basically frames a square outline. The autofocus mode changes when you're in Product Showcase mode. This is something you'll want to enable or disable as you need it. So if you're vlogging, turn it off. If you're doing a video or a segment of a video and need it, turn it on.
      Feel free to DM me a picture on IG (@DianaGladney) if you need help and still can't sort it out. It's likely something very small and easily fixable.

    Hi, love your videos , thank you
    I just got my ZV-1 , I am trying to find if it is possible to save the zoom place. I am shooting in my home studio, I set my frame and zoom and shoot a side. Then I need to shut it off and take the memory card out. when I come back the camera opened into the regular zoom place and did not save my last zoom frame, so I need to manually find again my zoom place for the same frame. I am shooting many videos and need the exactly same frame. Any idea for a solution please?

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I’m glad the videos have been valuable for you!
      Congratulations on your new camera! 😊
      So, that’s one of things where there are no settings changes for it to fix that issue, unfortunately.
      This can be a bit of a disappointment considering, as you stated, you have to resent the camera each time.
      The only solution I could suggest is based on the camera placement, if possible, change the tripod location to be closer or further away based on what you usually zoom into if it’s not too different.
      What I’ve done is just look for those in office “landmarks” of what I’d like in the frame and use that as my frame guideline. So, that could be a specific book on the bookshelf for example.
      There’s really not much you can do other than physically moving the cameras position or just re-zoom to the desired spot.

      Short answer though, makes sure you have accurate colors represented so white colors actually look white versus some yellowish white and colors are correct. This also impacts your skin. You'll see in the video lol The wrong white balance can make you look really weird on camera lol

But I'm tired of trying to figure out how to get the best YT quality. Also, when you record, do you USB Stream and record via computer, since I noticed you're using your USB microphone. Or do you record on the ZV1 with the mic (I use RODE micro video) and then transfer to the computer and edit and upload? Would love a response. Thank you. Appreciate you.

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Romit Jethwaney Here’s the honest truth Romot, no camera is going to look great if you don’t have proper lighting or are in a well lit space if you’re using natural light. It’s only then that adjusting the settings on the camera make sense because you’re adjusting the settings based on your environment. It’s not as easy as copying settings you see on TH-cam unfortunately.
      To learn what you need to change, Exposure Settings wise, to make your videos look the way you’d like. Give yourself some time to learn how to use what you purchased.

    I have been trying to understand the difference between 30p 50m, 30P 16M, and 24p 50M.. can someone please help me determine which is the best out of those three settings that will help me to still have great HD quality for vlogs or tutorials and can still preserve the battery/overheating issue this camera has?

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah sure. The first thing I'd recommend is an AC battery option that can connect to a battery bank or a wall outlet. Especially if you're recording long videos. (This is the option I've used for over a year: amzn.to/3Qxo5Ml)
      Secondly, to cover the video frame rates (the 24p, 30p, 60p, etc.) you'd choose whatever you personally want to use, there's no right or wrong option. I use 24p, most creators use 30p on TH-cam. (There's a video on the channel that covers settings, frame rates, etc. and explains all that for any camera.)
      If you're in the Movie Mode and your on the tab that says Movie1 (it's purple with a camera icon) and you're on page 1/9 You pick if you want HD or 4k on the File Format. If you want 1080p HD, pick XAVC S HD.
      Go down to the next option that says "Record Setting" to pick your frame rate.
      If you want 24p for the frame rate, pick the one that says "24p 50M". That means it'll record in 24 frames per second at 50Mbps or Megabits per Second. If you want to use "30p" use the option that says "30p 50M".
      A lower bit rate at these levels isn't going to make or break your battery life because you're looking at virtually no difference when it comes to your battery life when selecting the frames per second between 24p or 30p. Where it will hit is when you record your videos and the quality.
      The frame rate you use will impact what other settings you select on your camera and if you're new to all this, the next video I'd highly recommend you watch is my video where I cover all that stuff broken down to help beginners better understand how to set that stuff up on your camera: th-cam.com/video/yFBeH-4mWvk/w-d-xo.html
      Let me know if you have any other questions, I'm pretty active in my comments section across videos.

    Hi Diana, thanks for this great video. I noticed some items are greyed out, how do we know what to do so to ungrey them? For example, my Exposure Mode is greyed out, tried changing modes and it stays the same. BTW, it is my first time using a camera and I had watched a tone of your videos before buying one.

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you @Blecyn Glad the video helped!
      If a setting is grayed out it means there's a mode or setting that is enabled on your camera currently preventing you from using one setting or another until it's disabled or changed.
      So, you should see on the Movie Tab (page 1/9) that you have 2 Exposure Modes, one for regular videos and the second listed for HFR or High Frame Rate. The second one will stay grayed out until you're actually in the High Frame Rate mode to set it and use it.
      If you're noticing the first Exposure Mode is disabled (has the movie reel icon next to it) then you're not in a mode that can adjust it manually like the Program Auto.
      Unless you want your camera in full auto mode for photos, then you can press the "Mode" button on the top of the camera, change it to "Movie" and then you can select Program Auto from there for Auto in the video mode or change it to Manual if you're trying to learn how to adjust it for your specific space.
