The "friend" I get to help with projects is a contractor that I trust completely.
😂. Good friend to have!
I'm so glad you show the outtakes. When it's nicely edited it looks so clean and easy. Kind of like watching a Disney princess meet her prince.
Mike looks like he could support the house himself 💪
😂
Nice job, I don’t think that will ever go anywhere! I can’t wait til you do the rest of the bulkhead stairs and the door.
Studying Home Inspection and was lost on sills and stuff thank you for making this video
That house will last forever! Mike seems a real nice & competent guy. Nice job by both of you.
After watching those outtakes I think THEY may be my favorite part.
😁 mine too!
I’m not a contractor but I did take physics in high school and it seemed VERY risky to put the jacks under those posts without a horizontal piece of wood on top of the jack to spread the point of contact 😮Very satisfying to see this fix. As the owner of a 80+ year old gem house, I love to see others saving these older homes. So worth it!
YES! THE STABBY SCREWDRIVER IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha by popular demand!!
😂
Great video! Can’t wait for the stairs to be done.
I can't either! 😂 Thanks for watching.
Great job! Thanks, Mike, for your help with the repair and video.
This was great to watch. I love how you keep a clean workspace AND I love how I could almost guess where you edited out the big boy words 😂
I watched the video where you replaced the stairs and I commented that you might have acted too quickly 😂
I love the Terminus map!
You and Mike did an incredible job. That finished product was beautiful. Built like a tank. Awesome job as usual. Excited to see the stair rebuild.
Thanks!
As soon as I saw this video up, I immediately turned it on
Thanks for watching!
You did a great job. I love your videos. Great demonstration. This is what I have been looking for. Thank you.
Love it Matt. Can't wait to see the next part. Been waiting on this since the bulkhead replacement and Porch fix video!
Thanks for the support!
This is a great video. Yay Mike for your help! You lads did a fantastic job! Like how you talk out the game plans and changes. The humorous touches were a fun addition 😂 Thanks!
😂 Thanks!
Love the job from start to finish. I really appreciate the “realness” of it; from the on-the-spot-decisions to the practical choices made through talking it out. I’ve said it before on your channel, I wish you lived next door to me. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks! It was fun being able to film a different type of video. 😃
Holy crap thats a lot of work I enjoyed the end
Yeah man! You are having a blast with the channel and it's been a great time being subbed ... hope the 2023 summer has been superb for you and the family and 44Ok subs is looking good. CHEERS
Thanks so much! 😃
Great job! Love the outtakes. No job ever goes without a hiccup or two. Always look forward to your new project videos.
Thanks for watching!
Steel is the best way but also the most expensive and would last until the Second Coming or The Sox Beating The Rays in the ALCS!!! Sorry had to do it!!! Lol!! Great Videos Thank You 🙏
Can you bolt the other Jacks to the foundation as well! I am so happy you are getting to this project, this whole basement entrance has been my favorite part or your house, not sure why! Looks Great!
Thanks for staying connected to my projects, I appreciate it! 😃
I was following along as you built it trying to figure out what your next step was going to be. Pretty interesting, kinda like legos. Only thing that might be an issue is you didn't countersink those expansion bolts. Otherwise looks solid to me. I can't believe they didn't pour the bulkhead against the foundation wall. Interesting how things were made in the past.
TH-cam recommended this video 👍
Great video, always glad to see a new one come out.
Best video ever! Go Matt and Mike. Great project.
Great project! ❤
Thank you Mike.

Good thing you said it - otherwise you know you'd have issues 😂
Awesome job!!! Now I wanna see those babies!! At least we heard one of them!!! Congratulations Mommy!!
Carpenter ants only move in when the wood is softened.
Love the bloopers. Lol
Thanks for the video; great as always. That Ryobi hammer-drill seems to be quite a beast...
The tool has always worked great for me. 😃
looking forward for those stairs to be done
I’m having similar work done Next week!!😮😮😮 They will have to work from a crawl space thgh. My back hallway has dropped an inch or so- I’m so freaked out😵💫😵💫😵💫
Lookin forward to your episode with roger Wakefield.
Glad to see ya in the basement
Keep those bloopers coming 😂
😂 Will do!
Last, ROAR!
🤣
That bulkhead door area looks right outta a SAW movie pretty creepy 😊
😂
you have such a wonderful attitude lol, it's so much fun to watch. also the mineshaft part was accurate, in that first shot of the door i honestly for a second was like "what sorta secret underground bunker does he have".
😂. There probably is a bunker hidden down here that I haven't found yet.
five in one is an epic little tool. I carry one too.
Great job. The only thing I'd have done differently would have been to extend the sill beyond the door on the left side too, probably up to the first joist.
super
You building a tunnel into a mine? (or a portal to another dimension?) That's some solid framing! I'm impressed.
You planning on insulating the doors against the winter cold seeping into the basement?
I know what you're going through with this project, I am doing window replacement and two out of three have ant damage and I still have two more to go, wish me luck.
Best of luck!
Great job, guys. Seems you work well together.
Is there a rule of thumb for how many T-posts to use & spacing between them?
Thanks in advance.
That's a rad TV you got down there.
No better place than my Zenith to watch my Ghostbuster’s VHS! 😂
I’ve been here since bulk head doors, and I am currently working on them. My sill needs replaced also.
Thanks for the continuous support!
Did the door upstairs open? The crack on the cinder block got smaller, but did not go away. I'm getting ready to do a sill replacement and your video gave me a lot to think about. Thank you!
nice work! you should remove the stairs and pour new concrete on the floor before you add stairs. our you can just pour concrete stairs, hit two birds with one stone
It's not going anywhere - and I see STEPS!!!
In the process of building steps! 😃
I would have cut the existing sill back on either side of the door to allow the new sill to rest on the concrete. I also think it would be good to face the sill for its entire length of the repair with some overlap beyond with a pt 2x4 to provide continuity. Was the original sill place attached to the foundation by lag bolts or something else? If not, I think they sell tiedowns that can be retrofitted on the inside. An architect once said to me after my commenting that they didn't build them like they used to, 'we only see the successes, the failures are gone'.
If you ever sell your home i want to buy it! Good solid home!
Just wondering if you've thought about adding borate sticks (aka cobra rods) around the older areas as a protective/preventative measure against rot/chewy bugs/moisture?
Every measurement you give Mike ends in Quay, so you can say "Quay" lol
Sounds about right. 😂
It will hold a big elefant!😀💪
Make a door that folds into stairs. 😁
Those Ryobi tools were working hard! How do you like them? Most reviewers say they are homeowner/diy quality. Do you use them often enough to deem them “contractor” grade?
You can easily treat the wood yourself to prevent any future infestations with Boracare using a garden sprayer.
💖
Please, please, please, put the Terminus poster back up when it's done.
😂 Glad to see someone else appreciate it!
👍
great job! I don't know which area that you are working for? I really want you come to fix my house :)
The most surprising part of this video wasn't the drywall screw in the previous header replacement ... it was TLC's "Hat 2 da Back"
‘What About Your Friends’ would have probably been a better choice. 😂
awesome job, are the stair video coming next?
It’s a work in progress! 😁
Way to hedge your bets by not screwing in the middle pt piece until after you took out the bottle jack...
One way I determine if a sill plate is good is take a 1/16" drill bit and drill at least half as deep as your plate. Then if things are good squeeze a bit of wood glue on your finger and wipe the tiny holes so nothing else gets in through the future.
