    JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR 👌🏻JUST ABOUT TO REPLACE MY DOUBLE SPONGE FILTER THAT CONTAINS MEDIA..the new ones that are now being sold…great filter but takes up to much room.this size filter will be ideal to pack out with bio home media..I’ve looked at others but to small to pack out with media,

    I just bought their surface skimmer the skim2, up to 350 litre tanks. 10 quid and it's doing a great job. It's looks big and bulky in pictures but I was pleasantly surprised by how small it actually is. The only annoyance is it's really fiddly trying to get the little filter foam back into the housing if you have fingers like pork sausages.
    The things they make are at the cheaper end of the scale and this is the first thing I've bought from them so I've zero experience with their other stuff but this skimmer is silent and is just working away clearing the surface.
    Well worth 10 bangers.

      Most of their stuff you can find on Ali Express and the like - I assume they just buy in bulk and rebrand it. Sometimes they get good stuff - sometimes they get trash!

    I was considering one of thes to go alongside a canister filter. Mainly for the skimmer and then just fill it will filter floss. Skimmer attachments on a canister inlet can be annoying.

    And father of the year award goes toooo......... ‘Do your own dinner I’m playing with fish’ - Love it - I’ve found All Pond solutions stuff very hit and miss too. Although touch wood I’ve had a huge filter from them running for over a year on a tank and it’s all good. Those solenoid valves are they 1/4 inch hose? Thinking if they would work on my RO system or do you have any better ideas? I keep leaving it running and overflowing the water butt!

    • @AquariumAdventures
      @AquariumAdventures  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably would work on a water line too - but a float valve would probably be cheaper. This sort of thing - amzn.to/2DJArOU

    • @sedaquatics7277
      @sedaquatics7277 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aquarium Adventures Hey thanks - yeah I’ve got one of these, problem is as soon as the float lifts and closes the flow if just pumps everything out the waste line. Trying to figure out a way of turning both off together. Back to the internet to find a solution. Electric bill is mental for the fishroom this time of year - trying to keep the water one down too.

    • @AquariumAdventures
      @AquariumAdventures  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sedaquatics7277 Ahh right - well the solenoid valve might be the answer then. I've tested it on my HMA filter (same 1/4 inch pipe as an RO) and it does work.
      That or a hose timer maybe?

    • @sedaquatics7277
      @sedaquatics7277 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aquarium Adventures Great thanks mate I’ll give it a whirl and fingers crossed. I just pulled half the wall down in my fishroom by using crappy plasterboard fixings for the HMA filter. I should have been sensible enough to predict it. Chaos in there at the moment.

    I like HOB for smaller tanks, like anything less than 55 Gallons (Liters?). What do Europeans use for smaller tanks? Have you seen the European Seachem Tidal 55, 75, and 110 HOB Filters. It’s popular here in the U.S. I don’t like the one you’re showing. Aquaclear HOB’s filters have failed me time and time again. I’m a Canister Filter person, with that being said. I can use a HOB Filter as a backup only. I feel like you with that piece of junk. I enjoyed watching! Thank you for sharing! I’m a CO2 Reactor person. Those CO2 Diffusers are a last resort use. I’d rather use a Lily Pipe Than a ceramic diffuser. That Bio Home stuff is great.

    I thought you were supposed to have CO2 go off an hour before your lights so it can be used up before the plants switch over to absorbing oxygen and omitting CO2 at lights out. Technically aren’t you risking a spike in CO2 in your tank for that extra hour with no lights? Might be a problem if you stocked the tank. I guess not right now for you.

    • @AquariumAdventures
      @AquariumAdventures  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are quite right - I didn't realise I had said that! I meant to say on an hour before lights om and off an hour before light off.

      Discus Keeper I’m in the USA and I’m not very fond of HOB. I still can’t figure out why they are so popular. I went and bought a variable water pump and I can build filters for anything 200 gals and less. Spent $40. 😂

      I think we like hoods and lids in the UK which makes HOB's a bit impractical. Nothing worse than making evaporation and humidity in your house worse than it is. If you're keeping discus at 28c, your house will be like the amazon for humidity before long!
