Great reaction. So Dave Draiman has said in interviews since they started back in 2001 that Ann is his favorite female vocalist. He did an interview recently and said Ann tweeted out something about being inspired by a Disturbed song so David tweeted her back and they struck up a friendship. This song was originally not a duet, but when they were recording it he thought it needed a female voice, and immediately said Ann. So they emailed her not thinking she'd say 'yes', but she responded and Dave tells Dan "Holy sh*t she said yes!". Since David grew up listening to her he said it was surreal working with her. Personally I think she's the GOAT of female hard rock singers and apparently Dave does too.
And it's actually a Divorce song. It was written about Dan's (guitarist) divorce.

If I could pick one female rock singer it would be her. I think it's cool that he has such respect for her. She never got the respect she deserved when Heart was at it's peak, people were only concerned about whether she looked hot or her weight gain which was pretty cruel. I'm just glad she's finally getting her due.

Really cool and thoughtful reaction. The first band I can remember rocking out to was Heart. I can remember hearing Barracuda on my parents record player as a very little kid, back when I first fell in love with music. all these years later, to hear Ann rocking out with Disturbed is such a surreal through line to rock for me.
OMG yes. She's effing greatness. Not many vocalists male or female can match David Draiman but she's one of them. Nice video!

Disturbed's Divisive album was four years in the making, during which two of the band members' marriages broke down. Drummer Mike Wengren got divorced early in the pandemic and guitarist Dan Donegan went through a split in early 2022.
This song is about a disintegrating relationship where each party struggles with letting go. It was inspired by the ending of Donegan's marriage.
"That was a really personal one for me," Dan Donegan told Billboard. "During COVID-19, I was going through a divorce after 18 years of marriage. Part of that divorce process is that there was still a great deal of love we have for each other, and we couldn't imagine our lives without each other. Just that letting go, letting somebody go that you still love, but maybe the marriage just might not be working anymore... It was touching on that. It was just very personal."
Donegan came up with the concept, then wrote the lyrics with Disturbed singer David Draiman. "I threw a few lines at him, and he took the ball and ran with it." Donegan said.
Then Feb 2023 David got divorced also.

Disturbed has come so far as a band. I feel like everyone in the band has improved steadily since their first album almost 25 years ago.

Because Ann Wilson is the originall rock goddess. Just think about it. The only one to sing with David is Ann Wilson....have you heard Heart's tribute to Led Zepplin at the Kennedy Center Honors? She was in her 60's then. She's in her 70's now

Amy's great but her tone is a lot different. Not worse or better, just different. Ann works here because she's got a bit of he gravel and growl in her voice like David; from that perspective I'm not sure anyone would have been as good as Ann for this song. But Amy is money too, her duet with Shaun Morgan on "Broken" was killer good as well.
