My oldest brother had a 07 Jeep SRT8 with the 6.1 Hemi, it was an absolute beast! I remember he beat a 6th gen Camaro SS and the owner had a dumbfounded look on his face, a true sleeper suv
When this generation of SRT Jeep came out I got the chance to drive one at the auto expo we have here. I was shocked for 2 reasons. 1. I was one of the few in line to drive it so got extra time in it. 2. It was shocking how good it drove for a big suv. I've wanted one ever since. They have their issues but they have such a personality.
David, just gotta say, Ive been watching your car reviews since almost the beginning. I really enjoy them. Please keep it up as much as you can... Thank you
I have an '07 Jeep SRT8 and a 2015 Jeep SRT both are tuned..and honestly my '07 SRT8 (5 speed) is quicker and has more of a raw muscle feel. However the only thing i like better about my '15 SRT (8 speed)is the interior. Its fast but its bigger..I would have to say the original body style on the 07 Jeep SRT8 is more aggressive, stands out, and overall the meanest looking out of both of em..
I got a 2012 and the first thing that I did was delete the MDS system, not just in the computer but the cam, lifters(hellcat lifters), and plugs for the modules that I got from MMX. After deleting the MDS I switched to 15/50 synthetic oil, the 0-40 recommended oil is for the MDS system which flows better but is way too thin for the bearings in the bottom end if you have a lead foot and see 6K rpm often. It's kind of weird because I'm getting better gas mileage now that I'm running in V8 mode all the time. One more thing, get ready to replace the rod bearings once you reach 100K, they are known to fail because they are Cheap(Cheena) bearings instead of high-performance ones like Clevite 77 or other name brands. Other than that and a few more minor issues, good vehicle.
As a new owner of a wk2 srt I have to say I’m impressed. Coming from various other cars such as a Trailblazer SS, Pontiac G8 GT, IS300, SR20 240sx and others. This car is the complete package of luxury and speed. Plus mine actually gets very good mpgs. From CT to NJ I used a half of tank of gas. The truck in this video is my trucks twin minus the tinted tails. Black grill, intake, door badges and all.
I love grand Cherokee because of the way it looks, but also it just sounds great with the auto, the way it shifts fast and you hear that bit of redline. My favorite is the wk1/the boxy one
I just want the sport trucks to make a comeback. Every company already has the engine for it. Just paint the bumpers and put brembo brakes on them and slap a badge on the side.
Yesss been loving these things more and more! So cool they’re on the quirky line with these and they do so well haha. Also been seeing a lot if Durango SRT’s too. Didn’t think I’d say this but V8 AWD SUV’s are BADASS lol.
I liked the first gen body better aesthetically (center exhaust, body kit, headlights) and also because you could tell it apart instantly. I still have to look closer to differentiate the new srt8s.
To be honest i think the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is underrated , to me had the best of worlds now i know the trackhawk is a totally different monster but think about it this was the trackhawk before the actual trackhawk , i just love the Jeep dodge collaborations it just looks so good and sounds so amazing 💯
Joel alejandro Carrera arreola WRONG they use the 65RFE it utilizes 5 gears as i said but there are 6 gears. Would love to see your take on the SUV that started the 'fast 4x4 craze', the Jeep 5.9 limited. Fastest SUV in the world for 1998 and unlike the SRT8s that followed, you could use the old 5.9 off road as well (smaller wheels that allow all terrain tyres, low range 4x4, solid axles, plenty of clearance). Sure they're not as fast, but the character is there!

I've always loved the srt jeeps. The 1998 5.9 limited Grand Cherokee is what really got me into thr sleeper jeeps. It's pretty much the srt jeep of the 90's. The 5.9 limited and srt jeep are both fun pieces of machinery

Depending how much you drive, prepare to waste on gas! I drive around 15000 miles a year. I easily spend 300 a month on gas on my WK2 Jeep SRT with the 8 speed transmission. Gas where I'm at is around 3.50.
I want an srt8 so bad, not just because of the performance. In my opinion the 12-13 srt looks way better In terms of looks than the 14+. I had an 11 2wd 5.7 that I modified(visually)and and competed in carshows along side my brother with his durango. In October of 23 a guy ran a red-light totaling it. I found a 2012 srt8 same color and same wheel and wheel color as my 2011. The 12-13 srt has everything I wanted to do to my 11 to give it the refined agressive look.
Vehicles like this are why I love Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep. Ridiculousness at it's core. I have a Grand Cherokee 5.9, which, while not fast by today's standards, was the fastest SUV in the world at it's launch and paved the way for the high performance luxury SUVs of today. But they really are a good all around vehicle. Fast. Can tow. Can haul people. AWD for bad weather. Etc
I had one of these a 2013. It got boring to me very quick. I got used to the power too fast and you really couldn’t do much without spending a ton. Plus it was killer on a gas as a daily and unreliable lol. The only vehicle I’ve ever brought and regretted. It did sound great though!
TheNicknack43 well that gen is a little sketchy because of quality but the 2015 and up are solid, I know a guy who has a charger scatpack with that motor and has 116,000 miles on it and only had a problem with the radiator. What are everyone's thoughts regarding a 2012 or a 2014+? Obviously the price difference is fairly significant (to me any ways). Is a 14+ really "worth" it? Is it actually faster? I'm really considering an SRT(8) but I really don't want to spend $35k (14+) for one with 100k miles. I like how much more modern the interior (tech) is in the 14+ and the gearbox seems to shift faster/rev match. Any opinions?
