I love your reactions to PTX. The whole reason I adore them is their ability to take a standard, simple pop piece and add sooo much technicality to it, without losing the feel of the original. I often mistake who’s singing what with my first listen to many PTX arrangements, which I think is what may have happened here with you. Avi is for sure providing all the bass tones at the beginning and throughout. The only ‘bass’ Kevin ever adds is like a kick drum. He actually doesn’t have the range to do bass parts. Lots of people confuse him for covering the bass sometimes just because the mouth shape of his percussion can make sense with a bass sound if we’re not sure what we’re listening for exactly and our brains interpret it one way to try and make sense.
You haven't reacted to PTX's cover of Imagine, yet, have you? I think you will appreciate what they do with that song, both vocally and visually. I would also like to hear your reaction to some of their original works like:
Run to You, Sing, Cracked, Happy Now, Be My Eyes, and The Lucky Ones. (There are many more, but those are some of my favorites.)

Mitch is actually really good at mimicking voices/sounds. There's a video somewhere of it. So pleased you did this one! I'm going to mention again Mitch's solo cover of Billie Eilish's 'Your Power'. He wrote and performed the backing for it, and it is beautiful. Beyond words.

Avi is the bass not Kevin. Kevin's voice is very high like a tenor. Please please please do "never gonna cry again". It is off the album they just released but it did not get a video. The reason I am asking this of you specifically is bc Matt LITERALLY sounds like a bass guitar and I would love it if you could replicate it on the bass guitar. It is so unbelievable!! Mitch also wrote the song and leads the entire song. It also has a brilliant message to it. I have been checking your page everyday to see if you have done another PTX video!! Stay awesome!!

I agree with your thoughts on how well PTX shine and support one another. In the past, a cappella and boy/girl bands have pecking order. I feel as though PTX broke that diva rule for a good purpose. I’m seeing the a cappella groups following suit sharing the limelight. ☮️

By far, my favorite! Showcases their musical brilliance and superb technical ability. Consumate musicians.
Kevin is so rock-solid with his percussion and in sync with whichever bass is involved (Avi or Matt) that it can be hard to distinguish the vocal bass from his drum beats. But any bass-range sounds (including the bass drum kick) are going to be from the vocal bass performer (Avi/Matt or Scott if they are soloing), not Kevin.

As others have said, the bass was all Avi. I'm still hoping you'll do their original, "Run to You." Also, I'd LOVE to see your reaction to Scott Hoying's cover of "I Should Tell Your Momma On You." He does bass, lead vocal with riffs, and percussion all at the same time (simultaneously, NOT layered), and it's amazing! And, of course, it's a one-take.

Kevin does not - ever ever never - sing bass. He is a high tenor! Only ONE does bass. It's Avi. In the rare times he sings lead, Scott takes on bass. There are never ever 2 people singing bass at the same time.

Kiiara can't even sing her own song without special effects. Pentatonix's version is 1000% better than the original, and Mitch is 1000 times better a singer than Kiiara is. As others have pointed out, Kevin never sings bass on any Pentatonix songs. He is a high tenor...almost as high as Mitch. Avi is singing the entire bassline on this song. Kevin couldn't hit those low notes on his best day (that's about the only thing he CAN'T do).
Agreed. I was curious about the song, not familiar with it, so I watched the original. Hated it.
PTX took it, made it better. They unleashed the Mitch beast. This reactor was totally Mitch slapped. I have seen other reactors become speechless with the beginning of this song. Take PTX to make a song better than the original, using only their voices, when the original artist can't.
