Naalala ko nung time namin, halos lahat ng nakapasa sa UP ay wala sa top. Lahat ng nasa top ay bumagsak sa UP. Kumbaga sila talaga yung nag-excel. Parang unfair kung ibabase sa grade nung highschool kasi meron at meron talagang malakas sa mga teachers nila kaya nabibigyan ng mataas na grade
Take note din po kasi sa coursw na pinipili nila. Posible naubusan na sya ng slots dun kasi mas maraming pumasa sa kanyan
@@anthonyenriles8573 Kahit po maubusan ng slot sa piniling course po, basta nakapasa po sa campus, magiging Degree With Available Slot po yung student. Ibig sabihin, pasado sa standard ng campus, di nga lang umabot sa gusto nya sanang course.

Nag-UPCAT kami nung 2010 yet lahat kami di pumasa, mga friends ko lang ang nasa top pero ako wala...tho yung 2 dun since gusto nila UP, nag-transfer sila dun nung nag-2nd year college kaming lahat. Di ko pa din malilimutan yung panakot ni Teacher sa amin na 3rd year HS Grade or Grade 9 ang pagbabasehan para makapag-College.

@Komori Hikkiツ oo nga. Yung pursigido ka masyadong mag-aral pero nadidiscourage ka kasi sa environment sa bahay. Swerte nga nila meron na silang choice pumili ng ateneo at la salle, maganda pa environment nila para mag-aral at makapasa sa UP. Unfair lang kasi di naman natin pinili na ganito yung environment ng bahay natin, gusto lang naman natin ng qualidad na edukasyon, nagpursigi naman tayo. Pero nagtratrabaho ako ngayon and narealized ko na wala yan sa paaralan, nasa pagpursigi talaga yan ng tao. Di lang siguro para sa atin ang UP pero di ibig sabihin di na tayo magiging successful. Totoo, dapat mabago na to, gumawa sila ng mas elaborate na standardized test. Halimbawa gumawa sila ng UPCAT II, para dalawa yung test ng estudyante at mas ma-eliminate nila yung kaswertehan.

I'm in the verge of crying while watching this report. 'Di ako nakapasa sa UPCA, and it really broke my heart. Parang may nararamdaman akong inggit seeing the reactions ng featured students who passed. I am disappointed, yet I'm not discouraged or disheartened. Thankful ako to be admitted in an equally competent and reputable state college, and hopefully I get to make this as a stepping stone to fulfill my UP dreams, and hopefully transfer to my first choice of campus, the UP Los Banos. I wanna show the world, the universe rather, that I am confidently beautiful with a heart. CHAROT

Hello, yakap satin. Hindi rin ako nakapasa sa UP pero admitted din sa isang state college. Makakatuloy din tayo sa UP next time, tiwala lang!
Malay niyo pag gradschool na kayo sa UP na kayo makakapasok. Pansamantala kuha nalang po kayo ng scholarship. There are other university at state uni na respetado rin. Pili nalang kayo ng uni na credited sa ibang bansa para if ever mag-abroad kayo madali lang. Yong uni namin kahit na nasa probinsya eh kilala at sikat because of med school kasi 99%-100% passing rate kaya choose a uni narin kung saan nag-eexcel ang course na gusto niyong kunin.

1st off, Pandemic. Malas lang talaga. I can't blame UP for doing what they did. Imo kids who had consistent grades in HS are more likely to be consistent in college too. Ako magaling lang mag exam, pero inconsistent sa grades. Dala na rin ng poor conditions sa bahay. Hirap ako makatapos ng college, pero nagawa ko naman. Anyway, my point, this way of choosing students is still relatively unbiased. Kawawa lang mga katulad ko na sa exam bumabawi, pero ganun talaga buhay. Life is not fair.
Their grades doesn't define them,and there are other factors that could be involved.Di na to equalizer since different schools have different standards,so others give high grades for accreditation purposes This is not fair and just to the students who have big dreams and this takes away their chance to make up for their failures from their past schools.I know someone whos almost a drop out,but still pass the upcat with good results, possibly higher than the ones with high grades from their past schools.Now, that's an equalizer.

I was feeling comfortable with some of my failed marks in Junior High School because, I thought public colleges and universities in the country will only require the Senior High School report card. So I studied hard in SHS so that I can get higher grades, thankfully my academic marks leveled up beyond my expectations. Shocked and disappointed when the announcement came out, saying they will require the JHS grades. I had the confidence of my capabilities and strived really hard because I am actually depending to a single-parent, and being labeled as "poorest of the poor" left me high hopes in the eligibility for admissions.
Today, I am currently applying in one of the public college here in our province which luckily requires only my SHS card. But, here again I am feeling the disappointment because I have chosen an unfamiliar course which I think will bring me a big adjustments in the future. Moreover, I realized that the world is really unfair if you will not make an effort for yourself, regardless of the background if we speak up, we'll achieve it.
During my time, we need to take the exam. I am an honor student but I had a hard time passing the exam on the other hand most of my batch mates who were not so serious in class/ not getting a high mark on their report card aced the exam. I strongly believe that exam is still better than high school achievements because most of the high school students tend to have fun in HS years but that doesn't mean that they are academically good.

Paano kaya yung mga Science High Schools na hindi lahat ng teacher nagbibigay ng good grades. I mean yes, I don't blame the teacher. Pero alam naman natin na halos mangamatay ka muna sa SciHighs kung gusto mo ng mataas na grade.

You can still enter UP after one year of studying to another school. UP accepts transferees

Dapat Hindi Lang s grades bumase. Oral at written exams tlga dapat khit online.
Kung may online exams kasi, hindi maiiwasan ang cheating..
Saka magkakaproblem pa sa server, Internet connection at hindi nmn lahat may sariling computer.
Lol... Technically, our grades are also based on oral and written exams. I think this is just a temporary fix because the standardized admission test is waived due to the pandemic. I mean what else would SUCs use as basis for admission sans the entrance exam? The most credible one that's left is the student's academic records.
Isa ako sa mga nag apply ngayong taon unfortunately hindi ako nakapasa , thank you UP sa opportunity na makapag apply ang isang tulad ko, hindi pa dito nagtatapos ang buhay ko bilang estudyante.
Mas okay pa rin kung nakapasa ka sa upcat. Tbh, di ako ganun kasipag nung high school but I'm proud I made it to UP diliman.
UP sana kinonsider niyo ng maigi sa screening ang annual income tax ng applicants. Deserve din ng mga may kaya sa buhay makapasok sa UP pero paano naman yung mga poorest of the poor na deserving din.
Imagine if ngayon ako grumaduate at mag aapply para sa UP, I don't think makakapasa ako, sa baba ng aking mga grado noong grades 8 to 11 impossible na yon. Buti nalang naka exam, the rest is history..

Yung ibang teachers pa naman ay bumabawi sa grade kapag may di nagustuhan or may issue sa student.
I remember a friend of mine that had trouble with her grades because the place that they live in was a place where you couldn't get mobile data connection and much less a wifi connection because they did not have the money for that. She was given a 69 (or maybe a 67) on a particular subject because of late submission despite getting the answers mostly correct. It makes me happy that this is the method for the qualifications in UP because she aspires to enroll here under the scholarship program. I know that she can do it and pass with flying colors because she's one of the smartest people I know especially in mathematics.
I think we have to respect UP's decision. Hindi maiiwasan ang cheating kapag nag online exam. Hassle kapag nag oral, kailangan talaga ng maraming time.

Depende s school yan. yung mga Science School mahirap mkkuha ng mtaas grades.. pro mas matatalino cla kesa s mga valedictorian ng mga ibang school..

Isa po sa tiningnan ng UP ay kung gaano karami ang pumasa sa UPCAT on the past years in a specific school. Of course, hindi parehong pareho ang number ng students na kinuha but for sure malapit lang. Kaya kung puro 100 nga grades ng mga students sa isang school eh wala naman palang nakapasa sa former students nila on the past years sa UPCAT, then wala ring silbi yung grade na yun.
UPCAT is definitely a great equalizer and it sucks that the freshies this year were not even given a chance kasi grades/exam ang original basis ng UP admission. 4 lang kaming pumasa sa school namin sa UP ung 2 pa dyan wala sa top 10 ng graduating class kaya di talaga all about grades yan. Ako nakachamba pa nga manghula ng ibang questions kasi bawal magleave ng blank sabi ng ate ko na up grad din haha. Maraming decent grades lang nung highschool pero sila pa nagraduate with honors sa college. Hopefully maibalik ang upcat kasi napakaquestionable ng selection without the exam.

In this case it appears to be excellence first before honor... Sana man lang nainterview din at naging bahagi ng batayan ang karakter ng aplikante at ang kapasidad nito upang maging isang mabuting leader at huwaran ng lipunan sa hinaharap... We want our Universities to produce well-rounded individuals na may takot sa Diyos at malasakit sa kanyang kapwa at hindi puro talino lamang....

Though maganda sa UP Diliman, sa Baguio namin ienroll ang anak namin sa future kung saan kami nag-aral. Pero depende pa rin sa kanya, kung ano ang magiging desisyon n'ya. Para sa amin, wala sa school yan. Based sa experience ko, nasa ugali pa rin ng tao at kung paano s'ya pinalaki ng magulang at hinubok ng comunidad.

I remember taking the exam 3 years ago and I got 2.6 UPG. I could've asked for recon but UPD doesn't allow it. I wasn't allowed to apply again which sucked coz my mother was a single mother, my brother is in college, and so few colleges offer art courses. Most are expensive too. The whole UPCA thing sucked too coz I remember how a teacher of mine said he had to roof my grade at 96 coz I can't be higher than the science section since I'm at sports section. idk. College is so hard to attain in this country yet every job demands a college degree. I graduated fourth in my school's graduating class but I'm stuck looking for college opportunities which sucks. It is what is, I guess.

Kahit sa ibang big universities naman abroad, nagwaive din ng SAT score as requirement for application, kasi nga logistical nightmare magadminister ng exams sa panahon ng pandemic.
Im sure kahit ang UP mismo, mas preferred nila na magpa UPCAT pero sadyang di lang tlga feasible sa ngayon.
Hindi patas yun batayan ng UP. Parang sort of discrimination sa ibang estudyante.

I missed the entrance exams and manual admissions sa UP. Makikita mo lahat ng estudyante nag pupursigi makuha at matapos ang timelines naka set sa kanilang requirement.
I remembered last 2009ish I took UPCAT and then passed the polsci course in UP ceb. Di lng naman ang exam ang factor sa pagpasa nun kundi 50% of that as well is my grade from HS. Tho at least may chance na makapasa because of the test since di din ka aya2 grades ko pg HS it still means na maraming factors ang ggawin ni UP para makafilter sa incoming students this year.
This is unfair because your grades in high school should not just the bases. how about those student who dond have good grades in high school and in Uni times they will do their best to be in, in that university.

@@borgeex2023 Sa nangyari po sa'min hiningi nila 'yung grade 8 to 10 na grades tapos grade 11 lang. So 'yung total ng UPG mo doon talaga sa grade 8-10 makukuha. Ayan din po nababasa ko sa ibang nakapag-apply dati sa UP.
Ang hirap kaya ng UPCAT. Mas masarap sa feeling na pumasa ka sa test hindi dahil lang sa grades.

Mas tanggap ko pang hindi ako makapasa sa exam kaysa hindi makapasa na grade base na may explanation pa na demographic and socio economic status ang bases pero mahihirap hindi niyo pinana pasa - mga middle class at mayayaman ang nakakapag aral sa unibersidad niyo. PRIORITIZE THE POOR!
Mali ang akala mo, hindi lang grades kundi kasama rin ang socio-econ status ng applicant, mas maraming points ang matatanggap ng mga mahihirap at ang mga galing sa probinsiya.

@@Cristian-xy4kq From what I understand with the application process in UP is they give the poor more points to score in the algorithm, you can verify this with the Admission Office.
@@TheWil888 Yes, I read the article regarding the statement of the algorithm procedure of the qualifying admission, but let us not deny the fact that there's still unequality procedure for poor students aiming for better quality education.

Minsan yung 85 ng isang school ay 95 na ng iba.
Traditionally students from Philippine science high school have 80% or more passing the UPCAT. Ngayon less than 50% dahil walang UPCAT. Kawawa naman yung hindi nakapasa na sobrang mahirap lang ang family pero matalino. Iba ang standard ng Pisay sa grades pero pinareho nyo sa ibang school. Doesn't make sense

I remember, may Greedy akong classmate even my score is highest to all of them, I got failed grades and my classmate shock and ask me Why? Seriously? Then I remember when computing grades, our leader ask us, what's our score then she didn't included my other score and thinking I'm crazy because she thinks other quiz/test aren't exist. I'm complaining to our teacher about the other scores I have, but because I have SIPSIP leader/classmate. My grade still remain failed and start thinking *GRADE IS JUST A NUMBER* but in second quarter I got the highest grade than my classmate and they thinking "I'm a cheater" or "Sipsip" student
Even in the first place, They know I'm better than to them. That's why *I'm not serious at school* so Even I got lower grades

@@ajdg6509 I am waitlisted in UP Cebu, thus I'm not going somewhere else. Badtrip lang hindi UP Diliman, pero pwede nman ako magtransfer after a year. I accepted also in DLSU but I prefer UP. Anyway, thanks 🙂
So what if Valedictorian ka? Wala kayo UPCAT so that doesn't make you automatically acceptable in any UP branch.

Well sa totoo lang hindi lahat ng nakakapasok ng UP ngayon makaka graduate din bandang huli sa UP, baka pahirapan pa ngayon ang semestral exams at grade retention ng degree programs, yung tipong hindi mo masearch sa internet ang exam, dyan talaga masusukat ang kakayanan ng student, hahaha

As much as I want to be an Iska in the near future salawahan na ko kasi may teacher ako nung HS na binase ang pagbibigay ng grades sa kung anong nafifeel niya sa student parating absent noon si ma'am, I'm trying my best para talagang makasabay sa lesson kasi bumilis yung pagtuturo niya I ended up getting 79 sa first grading at 2nd grading Math pa naman Major subject! Kaya hindi na ko masyadong umaasa makapag UP kahit pa pangarap ko hindi dahil sa pangalan ng eskwelahan kundi libre ito hindi naman ako tulad ng iba na privilege to get anything they want lalo na ngayon online class pa pahirapan dahil walang sariling wifi at cellphone pero hindi naman ako nag complain sadyang ayoko na umasa na makapasok sa UP kaya Goodbye Dream school nalang siguro....... incoming grade 10 palang naman po ako kaya nag aaral akong mabuti di ko alam kung pano ko makakapag kolehiyo dahil halos lahat dun may bayad na.
