The portals are already nerfed with the lack of portal walls around the map. Nerfing the portals in a game that was built around the mechanic of using portals is the dumbest thing I've heard, im sorry. Let players who are good with the mechanic stomp. They earned it, they got good at it. You nerf the portals any further than they already have been, this just turns into xdefiant with less guns and a jetpack. If its not a good viewing experience then maybe they shouldnt have gone all in on esports and shouldve focused on a fun experience that lets players go crazy with the sandbox. So sick of this esports obsession and the need to nerf everything into the ground.
100% this. I don't see anything positive for a game to start mimicking the design of other games. Splitgate is fun because no other games use portals like this. There's already a dozen of other hero shooters that are dying, and the last thing we need is turn this game into one of those hero shooters. The portals should always and forever be the main focus rather than the abilities.

Yeah this works, as long as it doesn't become a situation where a new player feels like there's too much to learn and that they're extremely far behind
They could do something really cool with this idea. They could refine some of the skins from the first game as their own species that jump into the portal wars sport, bringing an extra weapon and ability to share with each faction they would go under. The portals were a huge reason why the game failed previously. It's a great mechanic, and a small minority (me included) love having them especially when it's the fast paced stuff. I played Splitgate since 2018 and favor it over Halo. However, the vast majority of gamers feels it's too overpowered and creates a skill gap too large for casual play/ it puts way too much focus on eSports and competition. And they're not wrong, 1047 games really does love to lean in on eSports and competitive gaming
@Nadestraight I'm a map creator from splitgate 1, and it's not the portal mechanics that are the problem it's the portal routes and size of the portals. When you put huge bill board portal walls in just a couple of basic portal paths, it makes it easy for pros to abuse and hard for non portal payers to control the set portal path. They need more portal paths with smaller portals, making people use their pathing more intentionally
Yeah you can triple portal, there's even a button for it, and you cannot close your portals (or, I haven't figured out how to yet) and nope, no sniper yet
yes (its even easier now with the one button for portals), yes (but only both at once at the moment), no (at least not yet but they will definitely add more weapons)

You say that like Halo and Splitgate 2 are completely different things. You seem to have forgotten that the only reason Splitgate exists is because of Halo's influence. The next closest thing to Splitgate (at least the first game) is Halo. Most of the people who play Splitgate are also people who have been/are Halo fans.
@@xx_amongus_xx6987 i played splitgate since release and im not a halo fan and didn't play any halo game the games looks alike but they are completely different
@@احمدالخفاجيخفاجي-ث2ذ Ok? I left room for exceptions like you in my statement. Also why are you so sure that the games are not the same if you never played Halo? Splitgate has all of the same basic guns from Halo, it had the same movement from Halo (floaty movement without sprint/clamber/slides/etc.), it has similar level design with giant blocky arena shooter-based maps. Splitgate originally got as popular as it did solely because it was "Halo with portals" and all of the Halo fans burnt by 343 wanted a classic Halo experience, which they found in Splitegate 1.
It is quite odd, I don't really have anything against it but I also don't understand it. Initially I thought it was so you could change loadout, but you can do that every spawn anyway
2 minutes in "it was niche because it was more like quake and unreal tournament" bruh that's the only reason I played it, if they wanna pander to console babies so be it, but it won't survive
I think portaling needs a heat up cooldown mechanic. Where you can still triple portal to the other side of the map and maybe back but it should overheat there pretty much. For another 5-10 seconds where the portal thing cools down. I'm new to splitgate so I have been chaining Slide jumps which makes me go really fast (idk if that is intended lol) so there is a lot of movement you could still do without portals
Disagree on the feel like splitgate. Ttk feels so much lower, feels like im playing xdefiant. We didn't need classes. Portals had that much potential that that was all you needed for a good skill ceiling, reinforced by the idea everyones the same. Now people can win engagements because they picked the class that can heal on demand, or the one with the wall ect ect. It may be alright now, but it can turn very quickly into a gregorian knot of balancing where there will always be a worse gun that needs buffing and a meta defining weapon that needs nerfing

You cant portal across the map anymore, the level design has been improved to prevent this. The flow of the game is also very nice, it feels smooth and fluid, and still has momentum. The only downside so far are minor bugs/ performance which is expected, and then the portals maybe being too overpowered again/ ruining people's experience
portals are literally the whole thing that sets the game apart, and im pretty sure with both ctf and team splitball in the game you couldnt portal when holding the thing
@@extremegamer5365 it may be why it splits them apart, but its also a big reason in its downfall, and yea because it functioned like halo, you quick dropped it made portals or team made portals and then you go through, just watch when the game comes out, it will be about 1-2 months before it falls off again.

Partially, but when 95% of your player base don't have this level of skill, you need to question if the longevity of the game is at risk by your games skill gap. And, it simply is a bad viewing experience / spectator experience for the eSports side
adding portals into a game creates a skill gap, PERIOD. they chilled out portals and it still is intense, it is just the way portal genre works. Adding a cooldown to portals would literally kill the spirit of the game, then it is any other shooter
Nope, I would say this isn't a bloated genre too. Hero shooters and extraction shooters are, but class based is behind those a little. Obviously there's a lot of them, but nowhere near as many as hero or extraction right now

This happens with a lot of niche games, the gatekeeping is very strong
i think portals should only let you go in and go back through it once and add sound effects for enemy portals
Enemy portals already have a unique sound.
13:09 hes a halo player, he has no information of splitgate 2
That's irrelevant in this situation, he's not providing info, he's providing feedback, which anyone can do
@@Nadestraight not anyone can give good feedback
I hope they move away from the round based play. Team Deathmatch doesn't need rounds.
It does if it wants to give opportunity and reduce early quitters.
It is quite odd, I don't really have anything against it but I also don't understand it. Initially I thought it was so you could change loadout, but you can do that every spawn anyway
Well your gameplay is good quality so I’d watch you play it lol
Haha thank you :)
2 minutes in "it was niche because it was more like quake and unreal tournament"
bruh that's the only reason I played it, if they wanna pander to console babies so be it, but it won't survive
"If the game is hard to watch, no one will watch it"
and ? Just dont watch it and play the game
They're focusing on eSports, they want people to watch it
Whats your specs? I get 0 fps in splitgate 2

@@Nadestraight what ssd, we have the same video card, I have a third of your ram and my cpu is the i5 4440 any cpu recomendations?
@@MysteriousPotatoeusually has more to do with storage space, and the type of graphics card you have. You need to make sure the game is correctly optimized as well via the graphics settings in game. Limit frame rate cap to 60 or something.
@@ramdjow2882 graphics are on lowest settings, and I have 500 gigabytes of empty space

Congrats 😂😂
was only viral because it was halo like and halo died ages ago, and its still following the same steps halo did, sprint/speed boosts and slides, that made the flow of the game feel worse, and of course still has portals so game modes like CTF and oddball a lot less strategic and a lot more just portal across the map.
@@extremegamer5365 it may be why it splits them apart, but its also a big reason in its downfall, and yea because it functioned like halo, you quick dropped it made portals or team made portals and then you go through, just watch when the game comes out, it will be about 1-2 months before it falls off again.
i hate this title, cause i see a variation everywhere
If it works, it works
Might as well double down on streaming since you have time... Its a grind like, 12-14 hours a day... But if you catch traction... You could make money from donations and growing your channel. Could double down on learning how successful channels review and talk about games etc and make youtube videos
About 99% of my channels revenue is from ads, which the streams don't have. It's so hard to grow streams on TH-cam, videos are much more efficient. But I enjoy streaming in an evening and talking to people!
Nah this is just a huge skill issue
Partially, but when 95% of your player base don't have this level of skill, you need to question if the longevity of the game is at risk by your games skill gap. And, it simply is a bad viewing experience / spectator experience for the eSports side
adding portals into a game creates a skill gap, PERIOD. they chilled out portals and it still is intense, it is just the way portal genre works.
Adding a cooldown to portals would literally kill the spirit of the game, then it is any other shooter
Let me guess, people are going to go into hating it because it’s a bloated genre
Nope, I would say this isn't a bloated genre too. Hero shooters and extraction shooters are, but class based is behind those a little. Obviously there's a lot of them, but nowhere near as many as hero or extraction right now
people act like its one genre when there are a bunch of class based and hero shooters that are completely different genres of fps
I think SG2 should have Light medium heavy classes like the finals
its easier to balance
yippee!
Wahooo

Anything that isn't point gun and shoot enemies = hard these days, people have much lower attention spans than the early 2000's so won't spend time perfecting a mechanic
