      I love Roger Linn, but this doesn’t ring true at all. They may have had different origins if there wasn’t an MPC but they would have still come to exist.

    Amazing to see the creator of this legendary piece of gear making a simple beat on his own invention.

    I was born in 95 but I prefer the older Linn mpc machines 60, 60II, 3k over any new tech now. All the music I grew up on and loved as a kid all point back to these machines. I was always connected before I even knew!

    I like how he jabbed akai after moc3000 here esp taking his name off machines like 2000 etc

    • @dianevrules
      @dianevrules 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Some" doesnt mean "all." He clearly wasnt talking about the 2000. Although his name is not on it. 2000's workflow bares more familiarity to the 3000 than the xl (and those bs drum groups/folders that Akai added) plus any other MPC that came after.

      I think CMI Fairlight IIx Is hands down the best of them all though , with Emu SP1200 #2 and MPC 3000 #3.

    • @dianevrules
      @dianevrules 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@fawkkyutuu8851 I know the MPC 2000 Studio Plus is the best out of all that bs. SP1200 cannot control midi synths. It's just a 12 bit drum sampler/drum machine. So Im not sure why you put that bs next to an MPC. CMI Fairlight is a synthesizer/sampler/etc. Not sure why you would put aqll that ish in the same category as a midi sequencer/drum sampler/drum machine. That doesnt make sense. MPC 2000 Studio Plus is in the same cataory as an MPC 3000. But a 2000 can do everything that the 3000 can do and a ishload more. Which is why it's the best, hands mf down.

  • @sagcap7927

    Another way to get a good groove from any mpc is to compose and program with the full level turned off. Get the real velocity of the hits from every percussion instrument programmed. I’ve seen dudes literally buy an mpc 3000 and sit there and compose with the full level engaged the whole time and complain about how the sequencer makes the drums sound stiff 🤦🏾‍♂️ then wanted to return it 😆. When composing anything, it’s best to turn full level off unless you’re triggering a loop. It’s like playing a piano with no velocity. It’s gonna sound artificial.

    • @beatsbydawood9529
      @beatsbydawood9529 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      go ahead and crank that velocity metric down to like 60-70% on your kicks snare around there too keep your hats at like 80% to 90% also all your ghost note stuff around there. micheal knows whats up

    Sorry Roger Linn. But MPC 2000 Studio Plus is the best MPC ever. You shouldve endorsed that ish before you left Akai! I can guarantee you that a mf can figure out the menu of a 2000 Studio Plus than a 3000, 60, or 60II. Because the 2000 is intuitive af. Not to mention that it does everything a 3000 does and a ishload more
