They should have given a 6 cylinder instead of 4 and increased to 260 or 280 hp and torque as well.
There is no use of 260 , 280hp now, as per government rules buses top speed is locked to 80km only then there is not much use of high horsepower engines in bus segment

They have a 6 cylinder A series engine with 320/350 hp power. This is actually used in their mining trucks

This is clear cut strategy from Ashok Leyland, they have designed these engines for getting good mileage numbers, Its quite common because 4 cylinder engines are mainly designed to reduce the need of additional components compared to 6-cylinder engines, When it comes to Technical speaking a 6-cylinder (Straight-6 engines) are used for refinement and higher performance numbers, Specially due to emission regulations also. Engine are tuned based on the application. This new 4-cylinder is good for both Mileage and Performance, But this engine has faced a lot of heating issues during its development time. But the engineers have finally fixed all the major issues and now they have passed all the testing phases and has been rolled out for production

4 cylinder is good for mileage in straight line but in gradients in bus using airconditioner becomes problematic likewise in trucks the ghats with heavy gradients are a problem with heavy load.....what ashok leyland should do in technical collaboration with hino or iveco develop 6cylinder engines with cylinder management like under load all cylinder will fire and shut off if load is less and give superb low end torque....... nice work ..👍

माझ्या मते या बस ला 6 सिलेंडर engine आणि दुसरी गोस्ट म्हणजे रोटरी pump पाहीजे तरच पिकअप हा फास्ट राहील नाहोतर crdi असून ही गाड्या पिकअप करत नाहीत कारण एलक्ट्रिक accelrater असल्यामुळे
