Wooo Lawd... Ur challenging a part of my brain I havent tapped into yet😂 Imma have to bookmark this one... let me master Mary had a little Lamb first😂😂
Wow! I've literally been practicing this daily for the past 4 months or so before even coming across this video! I guess I must be do something right haha😀 Anyway good stuff man👍🏾
aay carumba. the last three channels i watched about drop 2's each had a different definition of what a drop 2 is... now right out the gate your definition of first inversion is different than what I learned! this is just tangling the ball of yarn even more
I’m not much for the comments, but when I saw this video, there were 291 likes and 1 dislike. There’s and old saying, some people have something to say, and some people have to say something. I’m betting That Whoever disliked this video is of the latter. No dis, just an opinion. A great musician from Oakland CA told me to practice when we were younger, after I asked him to show me what he discovered for himself while practicing. He just wanted me to put the work in. Basically, you can shortcut your way to greatness. Sorry to be going in like this but real talk, we who want to be better have to manage our time better. Then one day, somebody may ask you to slow down and show me that again.
Thanks for the comment. There are no shortcuts at all! No matter how many videos you watch, you have to put in the work! YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! Time management is key! ✊🏾!
Deyquan, I love your sound. Most of your lessons are still a little bit beyond my abilities but I'm catching up quickly. My question is this: what you're doing when you explain the exercise at 0:31 is not the same as what you're doing when you demonstrate it at 0:54. Can you explain the difference?
Eli Godfrey this is just one video from my course which explains what’s going on. At 31 secs I’m playing the basic triad and then inverting them. At 54 sec, I applied the drop 2 concept moving in the circle of fourths.
Can you do this also with 1st inversion to 2nd inversion in drop 2 voicing to get the other sets of chords? And to spice it up can you also add 7ths, 9ths, 11ths, and 13ths?
If u have a C major chord..which would be C,E,G.. Ur C Minor chord would be C,Eb,G..so basically you Flat ur 3rd note in the scale..and that's ur C minor vs C major..that's just a simple way of putting it
The perfect explanation is , major= 4 semitones , 3 semitones, 4 semitones Minor =3 semitones, 4 semitones, 4 semitones Example c major is CEG C minor is C Eb G Semitones are half steps
If you are serious about learning piano here what you need to do: Learn major your major scales using the circle of 4ths ( C-F-Bb etc) Major chords and Major 7th Minor chords 7ths Diminished chords Circle of 4ths Cadence Progressions
Yoo... Most of ur lesson you ain't breaking them down... I bet u nobody from Africa will watch that... We watch krucial keys... Sean Wilson... And co because they do show us that chord... Nice work anyways I got what u did!!!
I'm from South Africa and I don't know what you're talking about bro. Listening is a skill, Deyquan is only meeting us halfway. I personally took so much from this lessons. You need to be inspired first; and me, I am currently inspired by drop 2 voicings. You were not the target market here.

Drop 2 simply means take the 2nd note, put it down one octave. So C E G -> E G C.
Just like other chords, you can invert them.
Really interesting finger exercise. Once you get the hang of it, it can open up your mind.
Yes it’s very helpful for seeing the keyboard
You cant beat me in enjoying in your play it's awesome💯bro🤝

3:35 - whaaaat?!? How do you do that glissando?? 😮
Jordan Rudess does this...
I just saw this comment! I’ll explain this in a future video! 🙏🏾
@@DeyquanBowens excellent :D
So basically it's playing the 1 to the 3 in circle of 4th if you see it as a number system in the movement
Correct! Thanks for your comment!
@@DeyquanBowens definitely a great exercise thanks for posting
That sounds like one of Judith Mc Allister songs
Sir how can u tell between minors and major chords
If u have a C major chord..which would be C,E,G.. Ur C Minor chord would be C,Eb,G..so basically you Flat ur 3rd note in the scale..and that's ur C minor vs C major..that's just a simple way of putting it
The perfect explanation is ,
major= 4 semitones , 3 semitones, 4 semitones
Minor =3 semitones, 4 semitones, 4 semitones
Example
c major is CEG
C minor is C Eb G
Semitones are half steps
How can I learn that I am a complete beginner who does several exercices.
I’m not sure what you’re asking!
@@DeyquanBowens I have a pianonand I want to learn it :-) wait I will upload. Video on my channell for xou to see what I can do so far.
@@DeyquanBowens i uploaded a video of me playing the piano, qnd I want to go on from there. Do xou offer any type of course or coaching ?
If you are serious about learning piano here what you need to do:
Learn major your major scales using the circle of 4ths ( C-F-Bb etc)
Major chords and Major 7th
Minor chords 7ths
Diminished chords
Circle of 4ths
Cadence
Progressions
It doesn’t make sense to me. I need extra help with this
The sustain pedal also wants to be heard lol...
Heard it too
The sustain pedal needs some oil haha!
Who are you? I have never seen yea. How come you know so much about keyboard?
Too fast
TH-cam has a feature that allows you to slow the video down.
Ah ok thank you
Yoo... Most of ur lesson you ain't breaking them down... I bet u nobody from Africa will watch that... We watch krucial keys... Sean Wilson... And co because they do show us that chord... Nice work anyways I got what u did!!!
