Just as a tip: you can also use a hammer. The actual metal shows you the edge alignment and you can hold it sort of in the middle to resemble sword balance.

I actually think that the difference between the great and the average HEMA practitioner is that one practice at home and one doesn't.

I can attest to the difference in arm strength. Even as a collegiate athlete, my forearm was totally unprepared for solo cutting drills. I now have a right forearm ridiculously oversized compared to my left XD

The majority of clubs I know don't take under 18's, mainly for the sake of risk, injuries, insurance, etc. Our club is precisely like that, which is unfortunate in many ways, as I started at age 11, but times have changed. Some are able to though, this might help you find a club www.communitywalk.com/THE-HEMA-Group-finder-E-North-America-Eastern

To me self trained martial artist( ect. ), have limits but if you truly want to go beyond you need to go to a club or a gym.

It is certainly much more challenging, and yet absolutely possible. I have known self taught sword fighters who are a lot better than those who have trained and even taught for years at well established clubs. For some people they have no choice, it is start on your own or don't start at all. It helps that there are so many online resources, chat groups, video lessons and people willing to help out online.

At 0:29 you made a statement that is making it harder for some people to trust in the term General logic, I am not part of a club but I am self taught. I have found that most people do believe that statement to be absolute, that is usually when I tell them to have a nice day.

Believe which statement to be absolute? Sorry, I don't quite get your meaning.

At 0:29 you made a statement that can never become an absolute. The day you choose to try, all that you know to be true today must change. That is a universal law, not my opinion.

My point there is that you simply can't learn an art like this solo, which is true. You need opponents to train with. I think perhaps you are reading more in to it than what I said.

I learned, by myself first, then I convinced a trained martial artist to slow down and just try it first. Life is about truly learning something before you know everything about it. So when you take two separate things and present them as one, they are still two separate things. I was only disagreeing with the fact that we do not have the ability to use General logic went it comes to the sword. I totally agree about the training partner, you added that part. You also said I could add a clip of my practice.

What is the link to the foot video you talk about in this video?

so as long as you have the manuals and a partner, all should be for the sake of practicing? The nearest HEMA school is 5 hours away, and non-adults may think "well why don you just move". Adult life dictates that I can't (plus Sydney is beyond expensive and would lose out on savings).
I really have no choice but to buddy up with a mate and practice.

Lots of people start that way. Try and get to some events if you can. But the important thing is you find like minded people locally and get started with your practice. Even if its a little rough and ragged to begin with. It's that or nothing at all. Many successful clubs have started this way and got off the ground in just a few years. Good luck with it!
Once you have a group together you could also consider getting instructors over to do intensive training for you. I've done this over a week or weekend for some. I do it for expenses only, and quite a few other HEMA instructors will do the same.
