Taylor was an actor well before his writing/directing/producing successes. He was a series regular on Sons of Anarchy back from 2008 (I think), so it's not just the 'boss' ego trip'. 😅
The show is badass! Taylor, does a great job providing an entertaining plot and storyline, followed by well acted action sequences. Very entertaining show for of only 8 episodes per season. Always leaves you wanting more! Perhaps the best part of the show, is that it’s very patriotic 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Funny writing on the show too - earlier this season Nicole Kidman joked she can't get into the White House without her drivers licence & yet someone snuck in there with an 8 ball
Thought it was weird too that we never saw Carrillo pilot an Apache but I think it’s for 2 reasons. The first being that because of the current administration (in the show) not providing US forces in Iraq enough resources (hence the lack of proper ground/air escorts in episode 2). The other being that during the planning for the final operation of season 2, Byron made a point that he wanted the targets to be engaged close up in Iranian territory (which I assume was his way of saying no Apache). And of course the production reasons of having Cruz and Carrillo stick together for the final episode (Cruz likely wouldn’t be able to be much of a help in an Apache).
I am in complete agreement with you on the shootout I see on this show. I've seen all 2 seasons and it does blow the mind to see the action. Also I recognize Sheridan when he's in those scenes and it really throws me when they don't list him.
“SEAL Team” was way better as a show, and the coolest Delta Force scene in cinema history was in the Movie “Sicario” when they’re in the slow traffic at the boarder. The Tv Show “The Unit” had some cool episodes but I hated the Wife Drama in that. Coolest episode from that show was when Chechen Terrorists take hostages in a private school, and one of the Unit Operators dresses up like a teacher, and he wears reading glasses with a built in micro camera. He ends up sneaking into the school and allows the terrorists to capture him and they take him to where the other hostages are being held. Meanwhile the FBI and the other Unit operators are watching a Tv feed through the glasses and getting fresh intel on how to plan the assault. Love that fuckin episode
Man I couldn't stand SEAL Team. I think it was mainly because of David Boreanaz, but it just felt so soapy to me. I wanted to love it, and based on my interests I should have, but it just never passed the vibe check for me. That scene from Sicario is exactly what I wanna see more of from Sheridan.
@ The acting was meh at best in SEAL team, but the missions were way better. Plus with Tyler Grey being the technical advisor, the CQB and the gear were on point.
You obviously have not watched many fire fight scenes, because Seal team, Strike Back, SIX and ECHO 3 and quite a few other shows have better fire fights. Even the one season of "The Brave" Had excellent fight scenes.
Agreed! And even more the gear accuracy. Nightforce optics with correct matching MIL reticles (Mil-XT) Zev pistols, trijicon RMRs, etc, etc. Taylors running of the bolt gun as overwatch was fantastic! Cheers
I'd like to see him turn the "Special Ops" part of Special Ops: Lioness into a series of military shows. A show exclusively about CAG would be awesome; maybe give the AF boys some recognition and do a series following various characters, like 24th STS, PJs (a show about elite combat medics would be awesome), and CCTs; a show about Marine Scout Snipers, Force Recon, MARSOC, etc. etc. I'd also love to see him do a military history show. Like a WWII show about the Rangers; or the Airborne's Filthy 13 and Jake McNiece would be pretty fucking epic too!
Aside from technical inaccuracies, which preserve TTPs, my only criticism is that they are shooting in 4k wide angle. That makes the footage a bit campy. They should have used a slower frame rate and grainier filter to create more of a fog of war and cinematic feel. If they did that, your eyes wouldn’t see the details they don’t want you to see. If the beachhead in Saving Private Ryan was in wide angle 4k without filters, it wouldn’t have been as epic. Also the rates of fire and suppressor sounds are off. The rifles are firing as fast as submachineguns.
So their waiting 5 minutes for planes that can do probably 1500 miles an hour. Two minutes after the planes are on scene there's a little bird on station. Where did he come from?
There are episodes of the Unit that are seriously underrated! Once season 1 of Lioness started focusing on the lesbian romance, they lost me. Not to mention these bony chicks trying to be operators... really? 🙄😑😂
I completely agree with your assessment. The best part is I really like all the characters but especially the females because they're strong and great characters and thats what they focus on
Well...in all honesty, it kinda reminds me of planet of the apes from 50 years back where there was an epic battle. A big improvement of course and cool. Still looked like Texas (because it was filmed in texas).
The only thing that would have made the show better is some of the kit. Would like to see some better plate carriers and all the characters plates and the correct height

The purpose of special operations is to contradict all other thoughts and predictability, and if you can get some girls in there that can simply get the job done whatever that task is, which doesn’t have to be breaching a door or conducting a raid, that may happen in the future.
That happens now. Women can be a huge asset when employed correctly. Particularly in Recon and Surveillance. If you want to remove suspicion or immediately bring down the temperature. Introduce women into the equation. Human nature. You don’t put them in a SEAL team or Ranger platoon. That’s just stupid.
05:20 Respectfully, just no. Band of Brothers, even if it's dated now, is still the best in terms of action for military *tv* shows. No disrespect meant to more current shows like Lioness and SEAL Team.
The battle scene was complete rubbish. The opposing force was dropping ordnance on the Delta's team position among the rocks, then suddenly stopped and started a wave attack assault out in the open, running uphill, without any cover...what would have really happened is that the opposing force would have kept dropping ordnance on the Team's position until no was moving and no one was firing back, then they would have sent a small group up to check on the blown apart bodies and maybe perform a 'coup de grace' on any survivors. You don't send soldiers charging uphill when you have armour and heavy ballistics to do the job for you.
Relax dude. It’s just like any other action scenes lol. S2 of lioness has been entertaining. I personally enjoy LANDMAN. Billy Bobs character kills it on that show. That and his wife and daughter’s relationship is awesome. Funny and educational because I did not know that about the oil industry. Big oil is scarier than the cartels.
The military action in the show is pretty cool, but the plot in Season Two is a mess compared to the first season. Going off-mission to rescue an illegal immigrant child because the leader is a mom? Come on.
I don’t think you can make a video without saying DF in the title of it. You can say it without saying it. You sound like a holster sniffer every time you do …
Funny, I find Lioness more watchable & realistic than Navy Seals. Zero military service, but I love Lioness, especially season 2. I'm with you David, everyone one of Sheridan's series/movies are amazing.
