I almost didn’t post this video because I thought it may be met with too much anger and divisiveness. I appreciate the outpouring of support from all of you. Thank you.
@ValhallaVFT you say that all Special Operations personnel are typically higher in sociopathy because of what is required of them to be successful, but do you feel that would include USAF PJs? I see them as potentially the exception to the rule of requiring more than average levels of sociopathy to be successful in some ways, but still can understand the argument that they would need to be able to detach under the incredible stress potentially they would feel under fire. It is a very insightful video from my perspective as a former military clinical psychologist.
I used to watch all of the various sf guys podcast and stuff but I never really idolized them like some others but I just wanted to say yours is the ONLY one that I watch now and I stumbled on it by accident. I appreciate the realness of your channel. It’s like having a conversation with your work buddy or friend. By the way you’re not going to hell brother. God knows you better than you know yourself because he created you. You’re a man no more no less. A good one at that.
Love how all the people who praised these tools were the same ones who shit all over Goggins for not being a war hero. Meanwhile he’s one of the most real about his service, and does what he does to help the average Joe improve.
In this fatherless society where many boys are raised by frantic single mothers, I think young men today are just looking for Alpha males to look up to. Thankfully I had a Vietnam vet Alpha father who taught me how to be a good man when I was growing up. I was also in Scouts and served in the US Army/Reserves. I think looking up to Spec Ops guys as role models is healthier than looking up to movie or tv stars. Or musicians. Or ESPECIALLY politicians.

Don't apologize for ANYTHING done in war or police actions or nation building. Rather, let's get those that sent us there and didn't go themselves or anyone in their families. We have to stop playing nice with those that cause the horror and don't live it.
As a fellow Green Beret, you are SPOT ON in your description of the psychological profile we are selected for and the things we were not just willing but eager to do. Many of us are not well-adjusted humans, and it affects our relationships with our families. There's a reason that over half of my teammates got divorced.
Thank you for saying this out loud and clear. You all deserve a nation's respect for going there and doing that which very few ever will. Idolization has always been too much because it opens up doors that ought to stay closed.
Like, all of the SOF books, movies and documentaries coming out from the Vietnam era? Or the Soldier of Fortune magazines from the 70’s-80’s? Or the video games from the 90’s-present day?
@MegaThrasher95 Exactly, none of those books, videos, or articles never should have seen the light of day. SSG Sadler should never have written the ballad and Robin never should have been given access to the Q. and John Wayne never should have funded the movie. The tab never should have been an award and the 18 shouldn't have been made an MOS in 84' but it is what it is and the genie is out of the bottle, the best that can be done is to STHU stay off youtube and social media and go back into the shadows.
Hard truths explained in a straightforward fashion. Takes a level of self-awareness that most people are not able to achieve even if they wanted to. Respect.
Nate, another solid video. I’m an OIF vet. You can have role models and look up to folks for different reasons, don’t have to be an all around saint 😊🎉
Wow! This is the first Special Forces type of broadcast that honestly addressed this topic. It’s been addressed by journalists outside the military community but of course those reports would be dismissed as from the liberal mainstream media. It’s estimated that roughly 5% of the US population is on what is currently called the antisocial personality disorder spectrum (ASPD). That includes what used to be termed sociopaths/psychopaths. I believe certain occupations like career military, law enforcement etc attracts a higher percentage of those personality types. I further believe Special Operations units actively selects for ASPD individuals. One study I read regarding Navy Seals was that the highest correlative factor among Seals was a difficult childhood and a high requirement for acceptance or belonging. I’m so old I was in an era of the US Army that included conscription. I did 1 year and a bit in mostly I or II Corps in a little Southeast Asian conflict. I was definitely a low speed high drag 11 Bravo for much of it but I still see the faces of a couple of people I killed in my dreams.
Thanks for you brutal honesty. A lot of wannabes out there don't realise the difference between fantasy & reality & hopefully you have opened many of there eyes about the true mentality of you field 🙏🏽
I worked with an operator in the 80s and my father in law was a real bad ass. Both these guys were humble and unassuming. Guys who blow their horn can go blow.
"The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in a war, however justified, will be directly proportional to how they perceive that veterans of previous wars have been treated and appreciated by their nation." - George Washington
Im a combat veteran,i tell my nephew this every chance i get, he has enemies he has never met and hates faces he has never seen and wants blood because he romantically loves war even though he has no experience... He hates because he is told too... He thinks seeing people as people is weakness... Its heart breaking.....i loved this video so much i downloaded it to keep forever.!!!good shit bro. Jesus saved the roman soldier who stabbed him because he believed in him knowing he did kill the son of God, Jesus even said he had more faith than all of Israel, because he knows what he did and who he did it too....you too can be saved brother in Jesus name i pray for you.
Man, this is why I was hooked to your channel since I saw you pop up in my feed! You tell it how it is and let me tell you it’s fucken refreshing! Thanks for another great video.
Wow, there was the slightest look in his eyes when talking about knowing where he’s going, broke his gaze and glanced up to the left, man, the eyes say a thousand words. Thank you for this video. One of the most real, powerful and moving things I’ve watched in a while.
DJ Shipley had a great interview on Shawn Ryan Show. It really opens your eyes to what SF goes through and the mindset it takes and the toll it takes as well. He told the good, the bad, and the ugly. I enjoy your videos Valhalla. Always very informative.
I never served, but was a 22 year career firefighter. Some of the most selfless heroic acts that I ever witnessed were from men that you couldn't really call good human beings in other aspects of their life. It's a strange duality of man .....but necessary. Thanks for all you guys did for America.
Former law enforcement here, been there and done it in a harsh harsh city and involved in multiple shootings. I wanna say thank you for putting up this video. I’ve racked my brain out trying to explain my thought process on certain incidents. Up until today, I’ve drawn a blank. Well done sir 👍🏼
Dude I know god forgives you for what you guys did. I know god has forgiven me for laughing when joking about killing people. My CSM humbled us after the fact by saying taking another man's life is the most serious thing you can do and told us to stop laughing. He was right and I didn't realize it at the time when I was younger. I'm still seeking forgiveness from the kids of the dads I couldn't save. That eats away at me. But I know god forgives all. The price was already payed. Love the videos man you keep it super real!
No one should idolize or romanticize anybody but I do hold in a high regard those who are doing great things AFTER their military service and continuing to serve. There are many veterans who don’t have big platforms and who haven’t written books that are continuing the fight as civilians.
"Amazing husband's, amazing father's, horrible men who I'd die for." I've never served in the military as asthma kept me out at a time when there was no shortage of volunteers in 2002, and they could be more picky. So, I served and still do as a fireman, 15 years and going. While I have nothing military to relate to it's crazy how when I hear vets talk about their personal lives, their professional lives, being able to seperate the 2 to do a job and sleep comfortably at night, we're actually really closely related in thise aspects. Yes the military's job description is a little different, lol its till doing a dangerous job as safely as possible thriugh training and experience with people you grow closer to than your average coworkers where each others' lives are literally in your brothers' hands, and tough decisions need made under chaotic circumstances. Not saying SF and fire deparmtent are anywhere close being equivalent or that i view us as special forces soldiers. I have though realized and accepted that I am most definitely not the same man I was at 20 than I am 40 and most times I myself feel like I'm not a very good person as dealing with some of the worst of society everyday you go to work you start to really change how you see the world yet I'm not an ice cold heartless person and my wife and kids and extended families are number one to me. And it always makes me chuckle a bit when society's heroes being police, fire, and military are usually some of the worst and most fucked up people around. If people only knew what it was really like and what our job entails I have a feeling a lot wouldn't call us "heroes" anymore.
Thanks for helping people having horrible days, this is a valuable comment as well. People just aren't meant to deal with the stuff you deal with on a day to day basis. All the people I've known who have been EMTs, have either quit after a year or three, using it as a springboard to something else, or, just get real weird, and kind of inhuman about life. Many also probably were weird to begin with as well. We should respect these people, and be grateful for them, but we should do the opposite of treating them as moral authorities on anything really.
I respect your honesty. I hope you can give yourself more grace because you were just doing your job. I’m sure God understands we can sometimes give him less credit than we should.
As a retired vet I can't imagine anyone idolizing people with special skills but with minimal critical thinking skills. To believe that you are fighting for your country instead of the MIC is some E1 crap.
This is why I lean towards those who aren't "influencers" this is a true statement coming from a military family & a gold star to a recon marine. Thanks for being real Nate. Also, let's pray for Matt's wife 🙏even if you're not religious like me. This one needs it.
probably the most real video you've done Nate. I've often wrestled with this concept as well- that metaphorically fine line is real, and exists not only society, but becomes all the more so real when we become fathers and the role models we are ascribed to be by our children.
Since the GWOT, Hollywood has sought to focus more on SOF, instead of "big army" like they used to. The Onion's parody of COD is the closest to showing the common lived experience of most personnel deploying to the Middle East, compared to the majority of Hollywood movies since 2001. Generation Kill would also be an exception, which focused on Force Recon but still managed to capture the experience of the average combat soldier, even allies serving with the US.
Keeping it real as always, one of my all time favorite military channels, thank you for everything! Means a lot to hear the truth for someone who is thinking of joining.
Im not Military, the first time I defended myself with a firearm. I was working for a armed alarm response company, i was 21 it scared me alot and now im 43 it still trips me out. Praying for you Valhalla.
The only influencer SOFBRO who would be stil the hardest m-fer around even if he wasnt a SOFBRO is the old savage David Goggins. That man is actually helping improve people's lives.
I appreciate the honesty and candidness to post this Nate. As far as your faith, man, I serve on a church security team with plenty of vets and former operators. God hasn't turned his back on them or anyone else regardless of what they've done. I used to feel the same way though after a period of my life I was not proud of living. Read the Prodigal Son story - Luke 15:32. In short, a father forgives his son for all wrongdoings and gladly accepts him back into family after his son's absence. God is just waiting for you to turn back to Him. That same forgiveness awaits all of us.
The ending of the video was pretty deep and I’d like to share this with you. Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. 2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” 3 Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
I was a prior Marine infantryman. The only role model I have is Chesty Puller and no SF operator shall ever attain such mythical powers of lore and legend.
Hey man I’m vet, not delta or anything but was ranger bat… I respect this video. I have to say this, even though I know it’s going to sound cheesy… you’re never beyond God’s grace, man. Reciting the Jesus prayer crushed me but then brought me back to life in the end. For whatever it’s worth from this random guy, a bad person doesn’t take the time to put out a video like this. Best of luck to you. Sincerely.
Tough one Valhalla , Truly thank you for your honesty to drop this vid. Resonates deep my man. From one Vet to another take it one day at a time exhale and breathe. Take care brother
I understand why folks are enamored of SF dudes. I mean look at the state of masculinity in the West. Fatherless households, weak mentors, charlatans. Young men are seeking strength. Your premise is correct though. Good video.
I don’t know you, sir. But I like you. I can’t relate to you even as a fellow service member but there’s something about your honesty that just..:works. I don’t get a “Hollywood” feeling from you. I don’t feel entertained, I feel informed.
You shouldn’t feel that you shouldn’t be religious because you have no remorse for doing your job. The lord creates paths for us and knows where your heart truly is. God has commanded his people to fight wars in the Bible and can see the bigger picture. Do not be discouraged hermano, the lord loves you.
Atleast this man had the courage to speak the cold hard truth about his role as a combat soldier. Unlike some of these other clowns who brag and boast about their war crimes about an illegal and offensive war they had no business being apart of to begin with.
As a man I feel like you shouldn’t look up to nobody. You your own person. Look up to your self. - my dad This what he taught me when I was younger and I understand more and more everyday.
Regarding your struggle with Religion. "Feeling bad" about it isn't really the thing that decides if you're a good person. I'd argue that the fact you are cognizant of this discrepancy is proof enough you don't lack a conscience. Killing in war and for self-defense is understandable, and it may be worth talking to a good Eastern Orthodox Priest (Denomination I'm From) who has an understanding of the martial profession. Two things to remember always: God always loves you, and God wants your salvation even more than you do.
@@Stogienator When I've talked to Catholic Priests before on this, most of them basically just say killing in war isn't wrong at all, not the same tradition we have in the Orthodox world at all.
My dad never came out and outright said it. But it was always implied that somebody’s got to do it. And he didn’t have a problem doing it. He was good at it. He stayed in for 26 years and did a lot of amazing things, I never had anything but respect for him. Pretty much told me that with my temper and family traits that I would be somehow and somewhere on that path… And that I should probably forget about it. Against my wishes at the time I decided to take his advice. . I do believe he would agree with everything you said. Thank you.
I understand the point of the video. I think it really is military wide. SOF do some incredible things, but they are not outliers. It takes a certain mindset, which most veterans are indoctrinated in, to look at humans in combat as part of the mission. Pilots, aviators, artillerymen, and drone operators are king in terms of kills. I believe the military shouldn't be idolized, period. I understood even as a maintenance soldier for 10 years that every moment of my day was geared towards training to kill others or maintaining equipment used to kill others. Everything I calibrated was used to get men and equipment somewhere to kill someone and get back safely. The whole man behind the man concept. The military is a killing machine pure and simple. The military should not be glamorized or made into beacons of moral standards. You can go to any BCT today and still hear, "What makes the green grass grow? Blood, blood, bright red blood makes the green grass grow Drill Sergeant. " If you are not somewhat sociopathic going in, you certainly will be coming out. Would I sign up again absolutely, the job has to get done. However, do I want my children to think of the military as this pure organization steeped in moral perfection, certainly not.
I appreciate this explanation. Immensely. As someone who has worked with an NGO in war zones and seen the aftermath, both immediate and post conflict, of areas that were SOF targets, I now have a better understanding of the violence and carnage. It sickens me (and it should) but I can now wrap my head around it.
“Some of you call me a Hero. And I accept that responsibility.” -Frank Reynolds. He was in ‘Nam. In the 90’s. Running a sweatshop. “And a lotta good guys Died in that sweatshop!” -Frank Reynolds
Another great video Nate, I totally understand what you’re saying and you’re right! A lot of us vets have had that evaluation where a certain moral compunction was lacking.😊 We all had a job to do and we did it, period, the end! 😊 Merry Christmas 🎄! Keep it coming, you’re on the right track!
Wow, just wow. Such an extremely heartfelt outpouring. I really felt what you said. Thank you so very much for saying it. I appreciate it beyond measure. Just one thing to respond with is never despair of the Lord's mercy, His love for you and His desire for union with you, for you to spend all eternity with Him in Heaven. His mercy, His forgiveness is always greater than anything you've done or ever could do. He is right there with you now, smiling at you, embracing you. You are lovable. And all the more you are loved. Nothing you have done, are doing or could do will ever change His love for you. Edit: 5 finger Gospel message 1. God cannot love you anymore then He does right now. 2. He will never love you any less. 3. He loves you now and forever. 4. He loves you without hesitation. 5. He loves you without regret.
Thanks for saying this. My son was 18X. But because of the Good God above it was not meant to be. He had the mindset and was going through preselection and was injured. But something else you said bothers me. It's never too late to turn to God. Good luck with this and prayers to you. Thank you for being the best at what you were asked to do. As an old Jarhead I'll offer a Semper Fi and best wishes. Peace be with you.
It's called a Medal of Honor for a reason. I sure do idolize the guy who landed on the X at 10K' to save a SEAL who fell out of his helicopter. Broke trail in 3' of snow uphill under fire to take bunker1 (by himself). Get wounded and left for dead in the bunker. Survive a direct air strike. Do a little H2H combat (by yourself, still) then make the ultimate sacrifice covering the rescue Rangers sent in to save you. Ì surely DO idolize people like that.
Gotta respect the honesty. I’m not a veteran but I still like watching your videos. The fact that you can talk about this stuff and not praise yourself or act like you’re any different says a lot about you as a person. Unlike guys like Tim that bullshit and glorify killing people. Good video
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13 Pride and arrogance has let me down in this life, but I’ve learned one thing. Truly, there’s only one hero and one way to be heroic; laying your life down for/serving others. I love the content, man. Keep it up.
I appreciate your honesty and vulnerability. I will pray for you and your faith. Please know that mercy abounds, and I appreciate the service you have had to do so that many will not face evil in ways you had to.
When you speak honestly about anything that is not easy to speak honestly about, that is honorable in itself. Especially today when BS and dishonor is normalized.
Glad someone finally said it. Literally every SOF member and even most line Infantry Grunts could write books and do Podcasts. My 16 years in the Corp as a multi MOS Grunt, I was not someone I'd want to be a role model for. Hard drinking and even harder cussing, frequently in the Red Light Districts of cities around the world. That's not a role model. Not to mention Warfare activities. You're on the money brother. Bravo Zulu Warrior.
The recent Shawn Ryan podcast has made serious claims about a looming threat to the home front, one that could occur very soon. I’d appreciate your take on it because, given the current weakening of our country, military, and borders, it seems increasingly likely and set to happen. It’s crucial that we understand how to best prepare, and how you believe we can anticipate and respond to these events in order to be as ready as possible. In other words, we need a ‘break glass in case of emergency’ plan right now. Whether we like it or not, these claims are not overblown or fear mongering it’s a reality, and we need to act accordingly. The government is clearly seeking justification for war, and it doesn’t take much but a brain to see that this is a fact. The most valuable way you can use your expertise is to help us understand the best course of action for preparation.
Those drones flying around on the East Coast, with weird jamming, EMP type tech on them...really gives me Red Dawn vibes. It's like they are planning to wipe out electricity, go dark and some force just invades the shore. So weird especially how they were seen flying over a power station too
yea I mean I have heard a lot of people talking about a emp attack as if they have insider information as if our government is setting us up and letting us know.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and a part of your experience in war I really enjoy your videos and I think you have a honesty most don't in this area of the internet I hope your well and Merry Christmas 🎄❤️
Guy has a point. Many veterans, and influencer SOF types in particular, tend to sugarcoat themselves in a thick veneer of selfless higher morality while side stepping the fact that they are highly skilled, trained and motivated professionals whose core skillset is an above average willingness and ability to butcher enemies with brutal, ruthless precision. As much as we love to romanticize it the reality of war has never been pretty or tidy. We do need these types of men to win wars. And they can be good men. But they are not purely selfless, nor are they saints.
Good, honest video. I was not an SF dude. Worked with them for over a decade, went to combat with them. Some were great humans, great family men, great soldiers. Some were high performing, amoral people. Adultery is rampant. Some are in wannabe 1% motorcycle clubs that weren't straight up outlaw clubs but had criminal elements. Knew dudes that did hard drugs. Steroid usage, especially on deployment. Some were people that might have been serial killers if they didn't have a legal outlet during deployments. There is domestic abuse (not saying it's prevalent, but probably similar to other high stress jobs like cops etc). They do an extremely difficult job that can ruin your mental health and they have to sacrifice things that people will never understand. It's ok to look up to SF or any "commando" type job. Lots of them are straight up badass. However, there are tons of messed up people in those career fields. The TK and all the SEAL stuff: not surprised
Thank you for making this video. I think it's something a lot of people need to see. It's the kind of hard truth that makes me a painter in this life who avoids canvases when I can. There are just some things I don't want to normalize.
Not sociopathic or horrible human beings. A disciplined mind and conviction of your actions. We select for it in Emergency Medicine/paramedicine. You have to be capable of holding two or more opposing thoughts/moral & ethical dilemmas in your mind. Celebrating mission success inside 'your tribe' is normal. You're right. We need 'bayonets', the wolves to defend our way of life. That's an honourable but difficult duty. Personally, I'm glad we have such men.
As a fellow Green Beret, I'm biased, but Tim Kennedy is the only one of us I know of who's lied to become famous. This is usually SEAL territory. And I'm skeptical that the guys who are trying to make a living as motivation speakers have much to offer that's of value to the average person. They will never need to develop the mental strength of a SEAL, Green Beret, or Delta operator. And they aren't screened, selected, trained, and conditioned to have the psychological and mental attributes required of a high-level SOF operator. A lot of us are not well-adjusted, well-rounded individuals with a lot to offer outside of the SOF world and mentoring prospective SOF candidates. I include myself in that category.
Appreciate the honesty and straight forwardness. Would expect nothing less from you. Thank you for your service and dealing with these burdens. All the best and Happy Holidays.
I think men idolize warriors because they are socially necessary. Most men are raised to be useful and a lack of that personal contribution leaves men feeling worthless. Additionally, having unique skills or capability to do what is necessary to rid society of evil is actually highly looked at by God (Matthew 5:9). Sometimes war and conflict is necessary and is support by the words of God in the Bible. I know it sucks that we’re left with the mental scars of such experiences or chastised by those who bask in the comfort and security our contributions have made. Very humble words, brother. But young men still need someone to look up to. You’re not a bad one. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Celebrity worship of ANY kind is bad. I think the reason so many get sucked into said worship is lack of agency and, quite frankly, they have no belief system. You are 100% right. I am only an Infantry Veteran, however yes we are all just as flawed, and often more flawed (mental illness etc.), than the civilian. Solid point with the sociopathic angle👍 For what it's worth (not preaching or lecturing😉) I, unlike yourself, I did develop severe issues from service, and returning to Christ was a massive help for these issues. You did bad shit to other people Brother. Doesn't mean you are going south😉 Love from Aussie mate👊
When I was young I idolized Roy Benevidez and my uncle who was a retired Marine Gunnery Sgt.. When I grew up I stopped idolizing people instead looked at character traits that I would like to model, I didn’t have to like the person or even believe they were good overall. I just respected certain things about them as an individual.
Finally, someone speaks the truth. It's time to call nonsense out. Everyone wants to make us veterans, cops, firefighters, and everyone in uniform heroes. We are not. If you join the service to be called a hero, the service is not for you. It's time to reset the narrative about what a veteran is and the reality of war. Great job on the video; it's a positive conversation starter.
I really enjoyed this video. This is what I respect! I don’t care for the bs stories or all that glamour stuff. I am all about the raw honesty. Glad I found your channel a while back.
I’m a little ahead of my skis here, but don’t let what you did during the war(s) take you away from God and religion. I returned to the faith recently after decades away: it is NEVER too late. Never
Yeah I agree and that's why I truly believe, that's what it means to be saved by grace, God sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to die for us, so that we could be saved, even though we didn't deserve it, and that's why Jesus should be the role model that everyone should look up to and try to be .
I almost didn’t post this video because I thought it may be met with too much anger and divisiveness. I appreciate the outpouring of support from all of you. Thank you.

The green beret I trained under told me "he was just some dude." He did not appreciate being idolized. Huge respect for that.

Special forces today seem more involved in their own interest than being the quiet professionals.
Thank you for saying this out loud and clear. You all deserve a nation's respect for going there and doing that which very few ever will. Idolization has always been too much because it opens up doors that ought to stay closed.
Never idolize ANYONE!
Now, one can admire someone's work and what they stand for. But never idolize.
Personally, I think people need to go back to being quiet professionals and get off all of the platforms.
Yep
Stop idolizing Military in general. We are no better or worse than anyone else. We’re just people.
That's sad. In Europe armies were better than the average in the past and people saw them as such. This is general decline of society.
I appreciate your straight up uncensored honesty
Hard truths explained in a straightforward fashion. Takes a level of self-awareness that most people are not able to achieve even if they wanted to. Respect.
Yes sir. Wish accountability like this was across the board. Real conversations even if it’s just one man talking.
Nate, another solid video. I’m an OIF vet. You can have role models and look up to folks for different reasons, don’t have to be an all around saint 😊🎉
You aren’t special because you’re SF. Infantry was the same. High fives and then suicides. We were all used….
He still loves you, and he won’t give up on you. As a parent yourself, you can understand.
Man, this is why I was hooked to your channel since I saw you pop up in my feed! You tell it how it is and let me tell you it’s fucken refreshing! Thanks for another great video.
One of most honest introspective assessment I've ever heard.
Your service counts man, thank you.
Thank you for your service. And you’re so right!
"Amazing husband's, amazing father's, horrible men who I'd die for."
I've never served in the military as asthma kept me out at a time when there was no shortage of volunteers in 2002, and they could be more picky.
@@JulietActual for sure, we are praying they can figure out what’s wrong and get her fixed up asap.
To say that these guys are not role models is the biggest understatement you could have made. Thank you for saying it…people needed to hear it.
Probably one of the most important videos regarding SOF/Vets in relation to our cultural understanding of them as a society
Thank you for your honesty. Hero worship is never good.
Nate always keeping it real! Appreciate you bro
probably the most real video you've done Nate.
Thank you very much for keeping this honest and real.
Nah, David Goggins is a weirdo. Nobody SHOULD be like him. He is excessive and "hard" to a fault. Completely unrealistic
All glory to King Jesus
The ending of the video was pretty deep and I’d like to share this with you.
Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. 2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
3 Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them.
Sincerely.
I've been waiting for someone to say this for years
Tough one Valhalla , Truly thank you for your honesty to drop this vid.
A friend of mine who was in the Regiment from the Falklands time struggles badly with PTSD to this day. Good message mate.
YES YES YES YES!!!! I've been telling my civilian friends this for YEARS!!! Thank you for making this video.
Jocko probably getting pegged as we speak.
As a man I feel like you shouldn’t look up to nobody. You your own person. Look up to your self. - my dad
This what he taught me when I was younger and I understand more and more everyday.
Or a roman catholic priest (my denomination lol)
Appreciate you being up front about this stuff. Thanks for the videos.
Thanks brother I know this is a very normal moral and philosophical quandary lots of combat vets wrestle with.
Edit:
5 finger Gospel message
Appreciate your honesty, service and sacrifice
It's called a Medal of Honor for a reason. I sure do idolize the guy who landed on the X at 10K' to save a SEAL who fell out of his helicopter. Broke trail in 3' of snow uphill under fire to take bunker1 (by himself). Get wounded and left for dead in the bunker. Survive a direct air strike. Do a little H2H combat (by yourself, still) then make the ultimate sacrifice covering the rescue Rangers sent in to save you. Ì surely DO idolize people like that.
Chapman🫡
Gotta respect the honesty. I’m not a veteran but I still like watching your videos. The fact that you can talk about this stuff and not praise yourself or act like you’re any different says a lot about you as a person. Unlike guys like Tim that bullshit and glorify killing people. Good video
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
John 15:13
Pride and arrogance has let me down in this life, but I’ve learned one thing.
This video is exactly why you are a role model, not the things you did in combat.
When you speak honestly about anything that is not easy to speak honestly about, that is honorable in itself. Especially today when BS and dishonor is normalized.
God bless you and yours and Merry Christmas!
Thanks brother you as well 🙏
Glad someone finally said it.
I never understood why people worship these people and I am an infantry soldier. Excellent video!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and a part of your experience in war I really enjoy your videos and I think you have a honesty most don't in this area of the internet I hope your well and Merry Christmas 🎄❤️
Thank you merry Christmas to you as well.
Also, I wrote my comment before I was 2 mins into the video. Glad someone is willing to tell the truth about the shit.
Thank you for making this video. I think it's something a lot of people need to see. It's the kind of hard truth that makes me a painter in this life who avoids canvases when I can. There are just some things I don't want to normalize.
Green Berets are the nicest people I've met or trained with in the Army.
That’s real shit Will
Appreciate the honesty and straight forwardness. Would expect nothing less from you. Thank you for your service and dealing with these burdens. All the best and Happy Holidays.
Survivors guilt is what eats me up and will forever. Spiritus Invictus and Semper Fi.
My man, I'd subscribe if I hadn't already. Appreciate the honesty, which is ironically something to look up to.
You guys are a source of entertaining stories. That's why I watch. Pretty simple
Christ died for you and still loves you. Please Don’t question or doubt that.
Wow
.coming from the horses mouth
The honesty is surprising and commendable..
A lot of sf guys are an absolute mess
I really enjoyed this video. This is what I respect! I don’t care for the bs stories or all that glamour stuff. I am all about the raw honesty. Glad I found your channel a while back.
I’m a little ahead of my skis here, but don’t let what you did during the war(s) take you away from God and religion. I returned to the faith recently after decades away: it is NEVER too late. Never
Yeah I agree and that's why I truly believe, that's what it means to be saved by grace, God sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to die for us, so that we could be saved, even though we didn't deserve it, and that's why Jesus should be the role model that everyone should look up to and try to be .
gaaaaaaaaaaaaay
One of the realest guys out there. I needed to hear that. Thank you!
