That ending could become part of another film because the mountain is open now-- they could learn of the mural and Abuela makes a trip there with Mirabel or her own children before she passes on herself
I wrote my dissertation on Maslow and the hierarchy of needs thing adapted to a situation and it got me thinking about the kinds of gifts received. I'm assuming the first set of gifts was a surprise-- not sure why it was expected that future generations would get them too. Seems like the first tier of gifts were about survival and protection (healing, weather to help the crops to feed the community, and some sense of future in a dangerous time). The next generation is about emotional needa-- for beauty, strength, humor, and to be "heard". Cognitive growth and recognition is Important too Which would mean the next set (including Antonio) would be spirituality and connectedness to something greater --

I kinda like the ending we never got it kinda has the vibes. Walt himself strived to teach families with the original movies
